The weather is become hotter and hotter.Today afternoon,my brother came my

home and asked me to swim with him. Got the permission of mother,my brother and

I went to the river which lies in the south of our viliage happily.When we

reached the river, we couldnt wait to jump into the water.The water is clear

and cold,which made us feel relax and cool. The river is not deep not shallow,is

suitable for swimming.We keeped swimming and playing in the water until we got

A book exhibition

Dropped in at National Library to see the National Book Exhibition which will close today. Suprised at the fact that so many kinds of books are published in our country. Thought the childrens books with many pages of colorful illustrations were made very nicely. Bought a copy of the Chinese version of English and American Short Stories at a 20 per cent discount. Am going to read this through in this good season for reading.

My Family

My family includes three people and a pet. These three people are my father, my mother , and I. I also have a cat named cookie.

My father is hardworking and playful. He rus a small business at home. He is very busy, but he always s firnds the time to cook dinner and help me with homework. Although he is strict at times, he can also be playful and funny.

The Dragon Boat Festival ,also called the Duanwu Festival ,is celebrated on

the fifth day of the fifth month according to the

Chinese calendar.People always eat rice dumplings and watch dragon boat

races to celebrate it.

The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races,especially in the

southern places where there are many rivers and lakes. It ís very popular.

festival is to commemorate the death of QU Yuan， an upright and honest poet and

statesman who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a

The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races. It

symbolizes people‘s attempts to rescue Qu Yuan. In the current period， these

races also demonstrate the virtues of cooperation and teamwork.

Besides， the festival has also been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous

rice)。 Zong zi is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and

wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. People who mourned the death of Qu threw Zong

zi into the river to feed his ghost every year.

With the changes of the times， the memorial turns to be a time for

protection from evil and disease for the rest of year. People will hang healthy

herbs on the front door to clear the bad luck of the house. Although the

significance of the festival might be different with the past， it still gives

the observer an opportunity to glimpse a part of the rich Chinese cultural

heritage.

This years New Years day is really busy! The street people mountain people sea, beaming, decorating. Some people carry the bags to visit family and friends, to new area; Some people around together, talking and laughing, laugh with, some people wearing beautiful clothes, walking in the leisurely. Matt gave us a class this afternoon, at the first part of the class, we saw a film. It was mainly about American football. After the film, we began t get to know the American football. It is similar to soccer, but it was much rougher. Players might get more easily. In another word, it was a game full of danger, they played just like fighting. One of the players just broke his leg during the match, and he would never play American football, because of his leg. What a pity! Matt told us that when he was in high school, he also take part in American football. He had broken his fingers for three times and his leg for once. The protection of the border is not a new problem for us, and our
