For almost two hundred years, the White House has stood as a symbol of the Presidency, the United States government, and the American people. Its history, and the history of the nations capital, began when President George Washington signed an Act of Congress in December of 1790 declaring that the federal government would reside in a district "not exceeding ten miles square...on the river Potomac." However, not until Grover Clevelands first presidency did this unsafe practice change. He held a presidential review of the troops from a flag-draped grandstand built in front of the White House. This procession evolved into the official Inaugural parade we know today. Receptions on New Years Day and the Fourth of July continued to be held until the early 1930s.

典礼开始了，几位同学先表演了节目，下面该老师颁发“优秀小记者”证书了。我想：肯定没有我的份。第一组十个人名念完了，果真没有我。不觉有些遗憾。但老师又说，优秀小记者有三十个呢!这组没有你，下组不一定没有你。这让我的信心恢复了一些。我们又表演了一些节目，又要颁发“优秀小记者”了，我期待着……果然不出我所料，念到了我的名字，我的兴奋劲立即就上来了，大步跨上舞台，结果老师手里的证书，真是兴奋!你知道吗?第三次颁奖典礼，还发生了一件有趣的事呢!点到王采玉的好朋友韩笑囡的时候，我的同班同学王采玉嘟囔说：“怎么没有我，竟然还会有韩……”这句话还没说完，老师就大声喊道：“王采玉。”王采玉没反应过来，呆了几秒钟才明白过来。

这次小记者是我和其他的小记者最后一次见面，我真的要好好珍惜这次机会，还照了几张照片，我要好好珍惜它。
