作为研究生的你们，最不陌生的应该就是“回归”。为什么?请允许我从“研究”一词说起。汉字“研”的本义是细磨，磨就要循环往复，就要回归。“研究”的英文是research，这个单词由前缀re和词根search组成。词根search意为“搜寻”、“搜索”“搜查”“调查”或“探求”，前缀re既有“重复”“反复”“再”等意思，也有“回”“向后”之义。

结合在一起，研究就是反复探求、再搜查、来回搜索。换言之，研究不是一味地向前探求，还需向后“回归”，需要回归到“原问题”，追问“源问题”，直至“元问题”;需要回归本源、本真、本义，回归逻辑起点，回归到最原始而不失去重要性的地方。极言之，没有回归，就没有研究。

研究需要回归，尤其需要“回归分析”。回归分析本是统计学中一种经典的分析方法，该方法可以确定两种或两种以上变量间相互依赖的定量关系，借以从一系列散落的点中挖掘出某种规律关系。这里借用回归分析这个概念，旨在说明研究中极其重要的两件东西：崇尚理性和揭示规律。

一是崇尚理性。回归分析不妄言、不武断，而是平和、冷静、客观、审慎地通过定量分析得出结论。其实，人的思考有其内在缺陷，经常陷于偏颇、笼统、歧义、自欺、僵化和促狭之中，很容易情绪化、想当然、非理性、自以为是和偏听盲从，片面、寡陋、扭曲、偏见、傲慢时有发生，由此导致一叶障目、以偏概全、似是而非，或故弄玄虚、哗众取宠、沽名钓誉，甚或黑白颠倒、是非混淆、美丑不分、正义不彰。

随着移动互联网的快速发展，现在已进入全媒体时代，诸位可以很方便地从互联网或智能终端等多种渠道获取知识，也能在微信、微博、朋友圈或论坛上便捷自由实时地表达乃至直播意见和观点。然而，在这个真实的虚拟世界里，人群鱼龙混杂、良莠不齐，观点纷呈迭出，资讯真假难辨，意见莫衷一是。越是这样，理性越发显得弥足珍贵。

二是揭示规律。回归分析透过貌似杂乱无章、毫无关联的数据，得出大量随机性现象整体上呈现出来的必然联系——统计规律。这种规律不是单个非确定性现象或随机事件特点的简单叠加，而是事件系统所具有的必然性，是随机事件的整体性规律。《天论》有云“以目而视，得形之粗者也;以智而视，得形之微者也。”看问题必须由表及里，由此及彼，见微知著，通过回归分析，善于总结提炼，善于抓主要矛盾和矛盾的主要方面，整体把握，揭示规律。

只有发现规律，进而遵循规律，才能事半功倍，否则，就会事倍功半甚至遭受损害和失败。当今，借助数据科学(data science)和数据挖掘(data-mining)技术，我们可以更加高效地从繁复的数据里找出隐藏其中的千丝万缕的关系。由此，经典的回归分析必将换发新的生命力。

以上谈的是研究需要回归。实际上，日常工作和生活也需要回归。因为今天这个时代是个时空压缩的时代，不经意间我们已经走得很远很久，却忘了当初为何出发;或者我们走得太快，以致灵魂跟不上脚步。现在更常见的情形是，很多人学了知识忘了常识，找不到“回家的路”。因此，回归成为必须。以下我重点讲两大回归：回归单纯，回归梦想。

第一，回归单纯

进入社会这个灯红酒绿、纷繁复杂的大熔炉，个体生命可能开始体验生活的艰辛和困顿。一些人产生了苦闷、彷徨、茫然、焦虑、疲惫等情绪，由此慢慢学会了察言观色，投机钻营，热衷于经营人脉和朋友圈，久而久之变得圆滑世故，市侩庸俗，精于计算和算计。还有一些人患得患失，畏手畏脚，念想太多、行动太少。整天或郁郁寡欢、自怨自艾，或怨天尤人、愤世嫉俗，怀疑偏激牢骚充斥着他们的生活。随着岁月的流逝，这两类人的共同特点，就是都已没有当年的单纯、简单、平和与快乐。

回归单纯，方能重新开始;不忘初心，方得始终。德国哲学家尼采以骆驼、狮子和婴儿比喻人生的三个精神阶段：骆驼忍辱负重，坚韧坚持;狮子凶猛顽强，展现生命的无穷张力;婴儿单纯稚嫩，没有矫饰和虚伪，只有纯真与乐天。婴儿意味着“完美的开始”，蕴含着一切所有的可能性。成人只有回归婴儿状态，卸掉外表坚强的金罩铁衫，撕去人情练达的假面伪装，让心灵重新回归原点后再出发，才能完成精神的二次发育，进而不断实现自我超越。

单纯，不是浅薄、幼稚或无知，单纯更不是囧或傻。回归单纯，就是回归复杂后的简单、绚烂后的平淡、纠结后的释然和混沌后的清新。回归单纯，是惯看秋月春风的淡定，是浪花淘尽英雄的从容;是经历重大变故后的舍得放下，是看透而不看破人情冷暖和世态炎凉的真善美。一言以蔽之，回归单纯，就是返朴归真。

回归单纯，还不能受物欲蒙蔽牵累，要崇尚物质生活与人际关系的双重简单。同学们，光阴弹指而过，繁华三千落尽，人生的画板终将只留下原色。请珍惜这些年来学校为你们打好的人生底色，回归质朴纯真的本色，永葆单纯善良的原色。《清静经》曰，遣其欲心自静，澄其心神自清。今后不论何时何地，你们都要努力做“一个高尚的人，一个纯粹的人，一个有道德的人，一个脱离了低级趣味的人，一个有益于人民的人”。

第二，回归梦想

此刻，大家是否还清晰地记得，你们孩提时的梦想、读研时的初衷，是不是走着走着就淡了，走着走着就忘了?曾经的理想愿望、目标信念，是否会在岁月洗涤冲刷中斑驳失色，是否会被残酷的现实打回原形，甚或自我嘲笑自我否定?我想说，如果你被生活埋了，请记得你是一粒种子。特别地，请在铅华尽染时恪守与坚持梦想，在迷惘落寞时回归和重拾梦想。

人生两件事：做梦和圆梦。世界上最快乐的事，也莫过于为梦想而奋斗。圆梦的路漫长而艰辛，在圆梦的过程中要尤其注意锤炼抗挫能力。各行各业但凡能成功的人士都有一个共性特质，这些人一定输得起，输了再来，最后就赢了。因此，诸位要执于梦但不能困于梦，要让梦想照进现实，勤于在事上磨砺，特别是在逆境中奋斗，在挫折中振作，在坚持中创新，在创新中蝶变。这样，不仅能让原初的梦想愈加清晰坚定，也让圆梦之路变得坦荡通畅。

你们的高中同学或者本科同学，大多可能已经成家立业，有的甚至已经成了大老板、住进了大别墅。而你们选择读研，刚刚走出校门，家庭、事业才开始起步。请不要把这些眼前的生活差距，视作你们之间的人生差距。人生是长程赛，生活和命运自会丰厚馈赠那些志向远大、追求卓越且持之以恒的追梦人。对于那些立志以学术为志业的同学，我还要特别对你们讲一句话，那就是坚持思想的绝对自由和对学术追求不可动摇的信奉。请诸位给自己一点时间，也给梦想一点时间，只要执着于梦想，坚忍不拔，百折不挠，终有一飞冲天、扶摇直上的那一刻。

关于“回归”，我就给诸位聊这些。
