当阳之役也就是长板坡之战可让赵云出尽了风头。一个人救了简雍、糜竺、甘夫人、刘禅不说，还杀了曹营名将五十多名，灭了曹军的锐气。当刘备打刘璋的时候，赵云又把刘禅从孙夫人手里抢了回来。灭刘璋也有赵云的功劳，可他却只得了一个翊军将军的官职。

诸葛亮一出祁山的时候，因为马谡的失误而不得不撤退，又是赵云保护好了物资，理应封一个元帅才对。可是诸葛亮只说了几句好话而已，但赵云也没计较。
