Dusk was just falling as I slurped up the last bit of rice and laid down my chopsticks.

“Theyre starting!” cried my friend excitedly. “Quick! Quick!”

Outside, children were running everywhere. Their happy voices and faces made me warm inside, despite the cold wind that greeted me. My friend thrust a bundle of straw in my hands. “Come!” he cried. I giggled as I ran to catch up to him; the childrens excitement was a fever that spread to even the big kids like us.

I soon joined a rowdy bunch of children and teenagers who were building a bonfire in the middle of a path that ran through the wheat fields. “Here,”said my friend, handing me a long bamboo pole. “Put some of your straw in the fire. Then tie the rest onto your pole like this.” He demonstrated with his own materials, and I followed his example. Then he thrust both our torches into the fire and handed me mine. “Now run!”

And run I did----we all did. For miles and miles around, as far as I could see, there were small orange specks scattered about, and I could hear the distant screaming and laughing of other children running up and down the rice field path. For several hours into the night I helped build fires and keep an eye on the younger children. Occasionally I, too, lit a torch and ran around like a mad man, screaming and waving a flaming bamboo pole.

This festival, which occurred six days before Chinese New Year, was just one of the experiences during the visit to my friends over the Spring Festival. As it was explained to me, the purpose behind this festival was to allow the children to have fun burning up all the straw leftover after the harvest. Later, the ash is used for fertilizer.

虎年的春节，是一个非常有意义的节日，我们大家都很喜欢这个节日的来临。如：我们是小孩子嘛，喜欢在春节的时候放松一下，还喜欢穿着新衣服去别人家作客。那么大人们呢，当然也喜欢过这个有意义的春节了，因为大人们都忙碌了一年，辛苦了一年，所以趁过年了，可以在家里打打牌轻松一下，这是多么难得的机会啊！

除夕的晚上，我们一家人在爷爷家吃团圆饭，在餐桌上，有我最喜欢吃的糖醋排骨和八宝菜，晚饭吃完以后，我们一家人坐在电视机前看春节联欢晚会，可热闹了！在春节联欢晚会上，我看见了不可思议的魔法师刘谦在为观众们表演节目，还有很多精彩的表演，我们看到了精彩的表演以后，脸上露出了喜悦的笑容。

到了春节的第一天，我们就穿着新的衣服，去给爷爷拜年，拜好以后我们就一起去了坟山，给奶奶拜一个早年，让奶奶保佑我们身体健康。弄好以后，我们就准备回家了。到家以后，我们闲着没事干，就让爸爸给我们搭雪桥，爸爸搭了半个钟头就把雪桥搭好了，我是第一个试验品，踩上去以后，一踩就塌了，把我摔了一个大跟头。围观的人就哈哈大笑。如果是他们摔跤的话，我一定会比他们笑得声音更大。

初二的早晨，我就把烧好的稀饭端过去给爷爷吃，爷爷吃了我烧的稀饭以后，笑得乐陶陶，连嘴都闭不起来了，接着我就把爷爷吃过的饭碗洗干净。后来爷爷家里作客的人越来越多，爷爷家里一下子从冷清变成了热闹，我就扶着爷爷去里面看戏剧。并且还和爷爷开起玩笑来了……

从初二到初四，爷爷的家里就一直是热闹的，到了晚上的时候。我就会和姐姐们一起去小店里买烟火，买好以后就拿到爷爷家门口去放，噼里啪啦，噼里啪啦，可高兴了，可是大人们听得烦死啦，好像耳朵会聋一样，被大人们训斥了一顿以后，我们就垂头丧气，感觉在春节里连烟花都放不来的话，那么这个春节还有什么意义啊！接着，沈洁姐姐提出了一个建议，说：“要不我们去柯桥玩吧？”我们几个连声答应，好啊！好啊！说到了去玩，我们几个都是很乐意的……我想，我不用说你们也应该知道柯桥是一个多姿多彩的地方吧。

春节，是一个令人开心的日子，我想，如果时间可以倒流，再回到过春节的那段时间，那该有多好啊！

With time goes by， it becomes a bit hard for me to remember everything about myself at the first day of my college life。 However， there was one thing for sure that I did feel quite excited and curious about my university。 There is no doubt that students like me have struggled for a long time so that can be permitted to enter the university。

Will Christmas Replace the Spring Festival？

Christmas arouses increasing attention year by year in China。 Christmas cards bee popular with students。 People hold Christmas parties and exchange Christmas girts。 A lot or TV and radio programs about Christmas are on。 Meanwhile the Spring Festival is less appealing （有吸引力的）to youngsters。 Thus some people wonder whether Christmas will replace the Spring Festival。

This worry is fairly unnecessary。 Why ？ One reason lies that Christmas only affects Christians，college students and joint-venture （合资企业）workers。 Another reason is that Christmas is mostly celebrated in cities。 Few people in countryside show extreme interest in this exotic（带有异国情调的） festival。 By contrast，the Spring Festival is the most influential traditional festival in every family。

I think，it is natural that with increasing exchanges with the West，a lot of Western holidays have been gradually introduced into China。 For us Chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional festivals。 For centuries Chinese have observed this traditional holiday to wele the beginning of a new year。 And we will treasure the Spring Festival forever。

Everyone has dreams. Some want to be doctors. Some want to be scientists. Some want to be engineers. I want to be a teacher when I grow up. Because I’m good at talking to people. And I like the job. I would be nice to all my students. I would encourage them to be creative. I wouldn’t give them too much homework on weekends.Maybe I will be a manager. I would run a business and lead a team. I would work hard and make the company bigger and stronger. My teacher often says to us . “No matter what you will be ,you must work hard today”. 家人团聚在一块，坐在一个餐桌上，吃着一样的菜，说着统一的家乡话，这是多么幸福的一件事呀!孩子们早就等不及了，拿起烟花棒，叫爸爸妈妈帮忙点上，沉浸在放烟花棒的快乐中。在小院子里，洋溢着大家幸福、快乐的笑声。到了晚上，大家看春晚，赏烟花，开始幸福快乐的一年。天空中，洋溢着七彩的颜色，谁都知道，那是烟花，可它让每个人的笑容，都像烟花一样绽开，可唯一不同的是，那笑容不会像烟花一样消失。

大家都在守岁，等着24：00的到来。天空中，一个又一个烟花绽开，就像一朵又一朵蒲公英随着风的舞蹈，飘散着，飘散着，将祝福与快乐，洒向世界的每一个角落，让每个人都感受到春节的幸福……

Besides, I think I will take part in some school activities to improve my comprehensive ability, such as communication ability and so on. I know there are many differences between high schools and universities, so I will change my study habits. In high schools, it is the times of teachers forcing students to study, but in universities, we should arrange all the things by ourselves, so I will study by myself. I will make study plans such as time schedule or something like that by myself.

Of course, I will practice myself to be more independent. Independence is a rather curtail ability for future development, so if there are any problems, I will do my best to solve it personally, and wont ask someone at first as before.

Then people begin decorating their clean rooms featuring an atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity。 All the door panels will be pasted with Spring Festival couplets， highlighting Chinese calligraphy with black characters on red paper。 The content varies from house owners wishes for a bright future to good luck for the New Year。 Also， pictures of the god of doors and wealth will be posted on front doors to ward off evil spirits and welcome peace and abundance。
