Lu Hao is a middle school student in Guizhou, who joined the “1 helps 1” program of the Youth Volunteer Community Development Project last year. Every Tuesday and Friday he visits an old man who lives alone. “Mr. Zhao is weak and cannot do much for himself, so I give him some help. I help do some shopping, do some housework, or read the newspaper to him as his eyesight is not good.” He said.

Meng Yu is studying for her master’s degree in Canada. She has a busy timetable, but still finds time for voluntary activities during the weekends. “Last month I took part in an event to help hungry children in some of the less developed villages. Twenty-two of us went without food for 30 hours! It was a challenge, but we could drink as much as we liked and we had a doctor there, so it was not dangerous. We wanted to improve awareness of hunger because every day children are dying of starvation. It was a great success. The local newspaper and TV reported it and we received many donations.”

As is known to all, China is popular for its emperor of bicycles. This is

because our country is still a developing country and few people can afford

private cars. The demand for a means of transport is met by making millions of

bicycles available. Riding a bicycle has a lot of advantages over driving a car.

First, it is a physical exercise to ride a bicycle. In contrast, sitting in the

car, one tends to gain weight. Besides, it is nmch more economical to ride a

bike than drive a car. On the one hand,the only fee a bike-rider has to pay is

the annual tax. However, the annual fees for a car are costly. On the other

hand, a bike neednt be equipped with a parking lot, but a car must. Most

important of all, it is beneficial to the environment to ride a bicycle because

the bike doesnt consume petrol; it is a pollution-free transport. In contrast,

the exhaust released by the car is harmful to the environment. Since China is a

developing country with a large population, bicycles will still be the most

popular means of transport in China for quite a long time. Most people will

still ride bicycles to go to work or to school. The emperor country of bicycles

will remain for at least dozens of years.

Oh! it was winter holiday. i was very happy. i read my favourite books. i have many wonderful books. but i could not read these books too much. i also had a lot of homework to do. i like playing computer games, too. it’s very interesting. but i could not play it too much. i wear glasses, i’m very sad. it’s not good for my eyes to play computer games too much.

今天，太阳公公终于露出了久违的笑脸。我盼星星，盼月亮，终于盼来了一年一度的校运会。

一大早，我回到了教室，收好了作业，就飞一般的速度来到了操场。操场上人山人海，每一个班都找了一个空地作为班的大本营。有的同学举着小旗子;有的同学擎着一个大牌子;还有的同学高声为同班同学加油……整个校园热闹非凡。

我参加了高年组女子跳高和跳远两个项目，当广播高声喊到我的名字是，我飞快地到跳高场上集合。在比赛中，六年级的选手以腿长的优势，轻松地进了四强。最后，我得了高年组女子跳高的第四名。

激烈的跳高比赛结束了，紧接着紧张的800米跑又开始了。首先是高年女子组，我们班由小希出赛。别看小希长得不高，可她跑得可是一级快。在比赛之前，不少同学围上去说：“加油呀!小希!”小希笑了笑说：“嗯，我会尽力而为的!”小希上了起跑线，随着裁判的枪声响起，选手们像脱弦的箭“飞”了出去。加油声也随之而起，整个操场顿时人声鼎沸。六年级的选手遥遥领先，全神贯注地跑着。虽然小希平时跑得很快，可在六年级选手的面前，也只能占下风，落在了最后，可谓“人外有人，天外有天”啊!她满头大汗，脚步却还是紧凑地向前跑。1圈、2圈、3圈过去了，选手们气喘吁吁，不觉放慢了脚步。小希也脸色苍白，我们也在为小希担忧，于是便为她高声加油。选手们一个接一个冲过了终点线，小希也在同学们的加油声中冲过了终点线。小希虽然跑不到第一，可我们班还是一片欢腾。

这届校运会在同学们的欢声笑语中结束了，它将深深地印在我的记忆里。

Today is Saturday, I don’t need to go to school, so I decided to take some morning exercises. Early in the morning, I went out of the house and looked around, the city was so quiet. With few cars, the air was fresh, I felt so comfortable. Besides the people who took the morning exercise, I found some people who worn the orange uniform, they were working. This was the first time for me to see the cleaners work in the morning, they were easily neglected, because they worked so early and when the time for people to go to work, cleaners rested. Most people miss their grade school days and think they are the happiest time of their life, but whenever I recall them I cannot help feeling a little sad. In my young days I disliked any dismal atmosphere and could not bear the feeling of loneliness, yet the fact was that I often lived in a dismal home and frequently had the bitter taste of lonesomeness. I was not cheerful even in the company of my classmates at the grade school I attended. “ABCDEFG……”自从我开始学英语起，我就特别厌烦英语，每当听到跟英语有关的字母或者是单词，就心想：“我是一名中国人，我为什么要学英语？英语好有什么用？我不一定会出国外，而且中国是我的家！”爱国之心是中国人必须拥有的品质精神，那时候，我总是觉得，我爱国，我不学英语！

可是，就是因为我从小有这样的心理，加上学校一个星期才两节英语课，我的英语只能勉强及格。自从转学后，我意识到了一些学英语的重要性，但是我并没有完全领悟，为什么中国人要学英语？我的语文和数学成绩在班上也算是优秀的，但是因为每次英语只有60到70分，庆幸的时候也就是80分左右，但是同学们的成绩，四分之一都是80分以上，虽然人数很少，就因为这样，我的英语成绩远远落后于一些同学，每次总分加起来，我顶多也是个第二名，这让我特别恼火，我没有去好好学习英语，而是更加厌烦英语，对于英语，只能用一个字形容——烦！

我尊敬老师，但是唯独不尊敬英语老师。这学期，新来了一名英语老师，我无所谓，心想：“教英语都不是中国人，都一样，一种人，我何必去理他。”我这种态度似乎被老师一眼就看出开了，老师从容地说：“同学们，说实话，你们喜不喜欢英语呢？”同学们哑口无言，“实话要实说，我知道你们都讨厌英语，成绩都是勉强提上来的，但只是以前你们死打死背单词，没掌握好方法。而且你们都有叛逆心理。”老师稍停了一会儿，说道：“也许你们以为学英语是觉得对不起国家、对不起父母，但是你们错了，你们知道吗？以前的英国统治了世界，即便是现在，连美国也比不上英国，如果你们想让中国的孩子不再学习英语，不是在这里叛逆，而是好好学习！要知道英语是主课，会加到总分里面，英语不好的同学，即便你语文数学再好，总分也是稍逊一筹……”

英语老师给我们讲了很多很多，基本上遇见某个同学不认真听讲、或者是不做作业，都会讲一些故事或者是道理，而我们就像听故事那样津津有味，这给我们很大的启示，我们也渐渐不厌烦英语了。

咦？这是什么？电饭煲吗？才不是呢！这是英语老师给我们带来的录音机~英语老师说：“你们不是一出生就会写字的，而是靠语言和交流才会说话写字的，英语也是一样，课前十分钟我让你们听一会儿磁带，但是，必须要安静，而且要去思考，我相信你们的成绩会挺高的，以为只要会说，渐渐的就会写。”老师还告诉我们：“听力占试卷很多分，所以要学好听力。而且，要把学习当作一种乐趣，而不是负担……”

英语老师从来不让我们默写单词，而是让我们背单词，一天背三到十个单词，我们觉得很轻松、也很快乐。老师要求我们快，还讲解了学好英语用速、效、雅三个要素(尊敬的老师对不起，我忘记了。)还讲解了这些代表什么，等等，很多很多，我们不知不觉喜欢上了英语。

英语老师很灵敏。一次出黑板报，由于一直没有画好灯笼，我就在英语课时不时地往黑板报看，可是我每次都是在老师转身写英语的时候才偷偷看的。“凌优！”英语老师突然的一声把我吓呆了，“你是不是再看后面还没有画好的灯笼？我宽恕了你好多次了……”我听着，脸羞红羞红的，不敢再回头看黑板报……

还有一次，我由于英语练习没错，老师就点名批评我，其实也不是批评，而是说读书不是为了父母和老师等道理。我很伤心，其实我不必去伤心，那只是英语而已，学不学好无所谓啊！但是我为什么这么伤心呢？

自从那几次教训起，我也不知道为什么，每当到英语课，我就异常的认真，动都不敢动一下，坐姿端正，读单词或句子的声音也是最大的，我也不知道为什么，也许是因为害怕英语老师，也许是因为为了弥补以前的过错。

英语带给我的那些烦恼都被清风带走了，每当英语课听到那些磁带里发出的录音时，我总是想：“总有一天，我们不用学英语，而是那些外国的小孩学好中国的语言。而在迎接那天到来的之前，为了老师对我们的期望，也为了自己，学好英语！“

英语老师，我真的很想感谢您！但是，每当我看您的时候，刚刚来的勇气却又沉了下去，或许您已经把我列入学生中的黑名单了，可您还是我心目中的好老师！

我也不知道为什么，我爱上了英语，每当同学们说一个词、一句话的时候，我就会想，这些言语用英语来说是怎样的呢？学英语可以让自己更自信！我爱英语，IloveEnglish！

或许是因为老师对我的批评，或许是因为老师的教学方法，或许是因为老师给我们讲的道理。但是，无论是怎样，这都是来自于我的英语老师，他不仅仅传授于我、于我们知识，还有许许多多对我们人生很大帮助的启示。

英语是我曾经最讨厌的东西，但是我把他们搞混了，我讨厌英语而不是老师。而现在却因为我的英语老师喜欢上了英语。英语和老师两者皆不同，一个是……，还有ing也是……哎呀！又这样了！英语你完全进入我的世界了！

英语不是老师，老师不是英语。英语是给我们学习的，老师是来给我们教英语的，因为有一位有方法，又特别灵敏的老师，使我们再一次对英语有了重新的认识。

I live in a city, since I was small, I witnessed all the things happened in this city. Now, in my eyes, after so many years, the city has changed so much. First, the transportation has become fluent.

Many years ago, there were less bus stations, people always needed to changed their lines by many cars.

But now, almost all the places can be reached by bus, people don’t need to change the line. Second, the buildings are enlarging, this reflects the city’s economy develops fast.

Indeed, I can go to many newly built public places to have fun, some are for children, some are for the old, all of these are good for people’s communication. The city’s change reflects people keep pace with time.

April 1st is the holiday April Fools also known as “All Fools Day.”Its exact origin is not known, because there are so many stories as to why it started. The most plausible tale is that New Years Day in France used to be April 1st, but the King changed it to January 1st. Not everyone accepted this change for several years and those who didn’t were scoffed as fools, thus the term April Fools.

Today people from many parts of the world are recognizing and celebrating April 1st in their own unique way. Here at International school is a fruitful student body from all over the world. I decided to ask a few of our fellow classmates from IS to pass on what they did for April Fools and also pass on this tradition to this who don’t know about this good hearted holiday. Maybe through Jinan University, April Fools one day will really be global.
