The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double Fifth Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon of the lunar calendar. It is one of the most important Chinese festivals, the other two being the Autumn Moon Festival and Chinese New Year。

The origin of this summer festival centers around a scholarly government official named Chu Yuan. He was a good and respected man, but because of the misdeeds of jealous rivals he eventually fell into disfavor in the emperors court。

Unable to regain the respect of the emperor, in his sorrow Chu Yuan threw himself into the Mi Low river. Because of their admiration for Chu Yuan, the local people living adjacent to the Mi Lo River rushed into their boats to search for him while throwing rice into the waters to appease the river dragons。

Although they were unable to find Chu Yuan, their efforts are still commemorated today during the Dragon Boat Festival。

In my childhood, summer holidays left a deep impression on me. They brought me many happy memories now.

Everyday we got up early then. Though there was not much modern entertainment, we could still be content with climbing trees, swimming in the small river, catching butterflies , bees and or something. Anyway, we could give a full play to our imagination and intelligence to enjoy ourselves.

The most enjoyable time in a day was night. All people would go out to be cool. They talked with each other freely and happily. [高中英语作文：一年四季

Going to high school is my first time to leave home. I have to live in school from Monday to Friday. I like to stay away from my parents for some time, because I can make my own choice and be free to go anywhere. My friends and I like to spend the weekend in the countryside that near the city we live. It is the short travel that I can not only appreciate the beautiful scenery, but also learn to be independent. The things that nature teaches me are a lot. I can see from the color of the cloud to predict the weather and the sound of of animals have different meanings. All of these are hard to know from the books. I have my own thinking from these trips, and the way to take care of myself helps me to grow up.

我有一个梦想。它或许是许多人的梦想，但在我心里，这是一个伟大的梦想，是我最大的心愿。——考取清华大学。这个伟大而宏伟的梦想伴我走过了十几个春夏秋冬，历经风霜雨雪，一直没有改变。

还未上学时，我就常听爷爷说起清华北大的名词。从那时起，梦想的种子就在我的心中扎下了深根。

上幼儿园的时候，我虽然拥有这个伟大的梦想，却没有真正做到为了梦想前进，只不过觉得这只是个单纯的梦想罢了。

可能是年龄小的缘故吧?我还不知道要做些什么。我认为我就是一个普普通通的小学生，能考上大学吗?就连“大学”这两个字在我的思想中都很模糊。有一段时间，我几乎快要淡忘了这个从小陪伴我的梦想。

然而，成功的鼓励使我又有了信心，让这个快要破碎的梦想破镜重圆。在一年级的第二学期，我竟然考了第一名。这让我受宠若惊，让我又充满了信心。以后，虽然我的成绩还算好，可是总会遇到挫折。在上六年级时，我感到自己的学习不如以前好了，甚至我有过要放弃的念头。这时候，我又想起了我的梦想。为了梦想，我不顾一切的往前冲;为了梦想，我可以努力奋斗;为了梦想，再大的困难也难不倒我。梦想世界我生命的“加油站”，在我灰心丧气时它总能激励我前进，梦想是我不停奋斗、不停努力的根源。

我相信我的梦想永远都不会破灭，直到我到达成功的彼岸。

让梦想伴我成长!

John is the most diligent student in our class. He is one of my friends. As a matter of fact, he gets along with his classmates. He might spend just five to ten minutes talking to you once in a long while, but he talks with enthusiasm and energy, and he likes to share his thinking and ideas with you. He is honest; he does not like to waste his time and energy. He never appears sleepy and tired in the classroom. He always hands in homework on time and also does well in his examinations, yet he has time practicing playing football and his violin skill. I admire him. I hope I can be as diligent as he is; John is persistent, attentive, and energetic.
