The global polar bear population could decline by more than 30 percent in as little as 35 years. Thats according to a new study in The Royal Societys Biology Letters.

全球北极熊数量在35年内可能下降超过百分之30。这是根据英国皇家学会生物学快报的一项新研究。

Researchers looked at climate change effect on the Arctic Sea and calculated the likelihood of this projected population drop is 71 percent.

研究人员观察气候变化对北极海的影响，并计算出预计种群下降的可能性为百分之71。

Thats because polar bears stand on Arctic Sea ice when hunting for seals. According to NASA, even the thickest ice in the Arctic Ocean has "either thinned or melted away."

这是因为北极熊捕猎海豹时站在北极海的冰上。美国国家航空航天局表示，甚至北冰洋最厚的冰要么变薄或要么融化了。

And just this week, scientists reported sea ice levels in the area were at a record low for this time of year.

就在本周科学家报告称，该地区的海冰水平创下一年中这个时候的历史新低。

This all adds up to not great news for polar bears. With an estimated population of 26,000, the bears are already listed as a vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

针对不同的动物，我们有不同的看法，理论上对于苍蝇、老鼠、蟑螂等害虫，人们总是抱着杀之而后快的心理，可还有更多的动物，它们是间接或是直接为人类服务的，是人类的朋友，我们应该去保护它们。

猫是一种家养的动物，看上去活泼可爱，它有一种本能就是抓老鼠，而老鼠是最怕猫的，也是人类最痛恨的，因此我们应该保护猫。

青蛙是一种夏天在水边常见的动物，它们以吃害虫为生，在有水的庄稼地里，它们会吃掉所有的害虫，让庄稼长的粗壮高达，因此我们应该保护青蛙。

蜜蜂是一种在花丛中经常出没的小动物，它们会采集花粉，制成蜂蜜，同时能让各类植物得以授粉结果，促进植物生长。科学家爱因斯坦曾经说过：“如果蜜蜂消失，人类最多只能活四年。”可见蜜蜂的重要性，因此我们应该保护蜜蜂。

当然也不是一概而论，比如说：狼、蛇、老虎，等凶猛动物，人类很害怕他们，可并不能说要消灭它们，甚至有些还需要去刻意保护它们。因为它们有很多正在逐年减少，乃至灭绝。追根求源是因为人类的高速发展，无休止的猎杀等等，破坏了生态平衡，动物们的食物链出现了断层，久而久之，人类会自食其果，导致毁灭。

保护动物，是我们当代文明人面临的一个重要问题，该如何去保护，值得我们深思。我认为保护动物应从我做起，不去恶意的捕杀小动物，对珍惜动物更应实施法律保护。对于生长繁殖快的有害动物，适当的予以杀灭，其中还有很多细节需要深思。

Protecting birds is part of our jobs of protecting our own living environment. Imagine you live in a place with green trees and colourful flowers. The little birds are flying around and singing happily. Its such a wonderful place to live. On the contrary, if we damaged the nature, chopped all the trees and kill all birds, we will live in a desert where has no living creatures. What a boring live would be! Therefore, we should protect birds as we protect our childern and ourselves future.
