Spring Festival!

Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in our

country. There are many customs, such as picking up the God of wealth, stepping

on the new year, setting off firecrackers and so on. Well, lets choose one to

talk about! Lets set off firecrackers!

The starting point of setting off firecrackers is the same as that of

lighting up lights. But the lights only have light, but no sound. Light can ward

off evil spirits, and sound can ward off evil spirits. It is said that the

setting off of firecrackers was related to Jiang Ziya. It is said that Jiang

Ziya helped King Wu of Zhou exterminate King Zhou of Shang Dynasty and went to

Fengshen platform to confer gods. All the meritorious officials were sealed off,

but his wife Ma came. When Jiang Ziya was fishing in the Weihe River to wait for

King Wen of Zhou, his wife thought he was poor and stamped off. Now that Jiang

Ziya is fighting for the worlds deities, she came to ask for the throne. Jiang

Ziya said angrily: "you can be a broomstar. You can only go down to the world in

30 nights. You can drill where it is dark.". Later, firecrackers were set off

during the Spring Festival to break the broomstar, leaving her nowhere to

hide.

Speaking of setting off firecrackers, I think of my father and I set off

firecrackers together. It was the night of the new years Eve. The red lanterns

in the community had already been hung high on the trees. My father and I

secretly bought some firecrackers and set off firecrackers at the designated

place. We took a very large board and padded it under it to avoid making a big

hole in the floor. The board is about two meters long and one meter wide. We let

the people around us get out of the way, and then we started to set off

firecrackers. I hold a lighter in my left hand and a firecracker in my right

hand. I slowly light the firecrackers. The sound of gunpowder makes my heart

thumping. Im so scared! As a result, the firecrackers exploded in a few seconds

after I threw them out. I jumped up happily and succeeded in setting off

我们和二伯各开一辆车去。到了酒店，我们就到房间放行李了。到了房间，我差点惊讶得跳起来，啊！这真是太漂亮了！大大的日式房间，阳台上可以看到美丽的大海，而且阳台上还有浴池呢！哇！我说着，绕到浴池旁，晚上我一定要来这里泡澡!。吃完饭，我们和二伯他们一起去了酒店前面的沙滩玩。

到了沙滩，我先和小小表妹一起堆沙堡，经过我们俩地不懈努力，一个个精致的小沙堡终于堆成了。我们还去捡了贝壳，有圆形的，有椭圆形的……有的还像一把小扇子，美丽极了！

晚餐可丰富了！有我最喜欢的鱿鱼须、牛仔骨，也有大家喜欢的美味的鱼、虾、青菜等等，可好吃了！

吃完晚饭，我们就和二伯他们一起去放烟花。一束束放出去的烟花就像在漆黑的夜空里绽开的花朵，五彩缤纷，美丽极了！

这真是一个令人难忘的星期天！

看着满天绚丽的礼花，我高兴地笑了。新年中最快乐的时光，当然是除夕十二点放鞭炮燃礼花了。鞭炮的种类很多，有大地红，雷王，闪光雷，冲天老鼠，地老鼠，米老鼠，开心果，噼呖啪啦，精品一片红……礼花的种类有天女散花，魔力子弹头，巡航导弹……

当新年的钟声敲响的时候，我便拉着爸爸在小区的院子里放鞭炮燃礼花。鞭炮声音最大的是雷王，我小心翼翼的点燃雷王的引线，飞速地跑开，轻轻捂上耳朵，目不转睛的盯着雷王，嘴里喊着“放炮了!放炮了!”只听“咚”的一声，威力太大了，这声音合着其它鞭炮声，此起彼伏，真是炮声如雷啊!我像打了兴奋剂的猴子一样，高兴地跳了起来。

紧接着我又准备放火箭炮。爸爸说：“火箭炮要把前面的箭头取了，看起来不起眼，但不小心会射死人的。”我半信半疑的取了箭头，一点燃引线，过了一会儿，只听“嗖”的一声，火箭像光一样的速度飞了。我一想，爸爸说的能射死人，因为速度太快了，一定能行。我再一次跳起来喊“真厉害，真厉害!”，紧接着，我又放了闪光雷、魔力子弹头，冲天老鼠，地老鼠，米老鼠……

我把鞭炮和礼花放完后，并没有离去，而是观看他人放的礼花，礼花一下冲上天，“啪、啪”声不断，天空中有好多好多的礼花在绽放，有的像天女散花，有的像红玫瑰开放，有的像满天的繁星……

我最大的收获是学会了下国际象棋，国际象棋并不难，规则很简单，要想战胜对方必须得每步谨慎，否则，就不会胜利。

新年前夕，爸爸妈妈每人送给我一张新年贺卡，祝我新年快乐。可是就在元旦的前一天发生了一件倒霉的事，让我怎么也高兴不起来。

平时爸爸妈妈经常给我买书，《作文100分》还没有看完，又给我买来了《作文100例》，《优化设计课课练》还没有做完，又给我买来了《单元测试ab卷》。英语练习册一本接一本，从不间断。可是，这些书没有一本是我要求买的。

昨天同学借我一本淘气包马小跳系列，《漂亮女孩夏林果》幽默有趣，我多么希望自己也拥有一套啊！可是爸爸妈妈就是不同意给我买，我求了一遍又一遍，最后爸爸才勉强同意，条件是看我一周的表现。

这几天我们正进行紧张的期末复习，每天都做好几篇综合练习试卷，放学回家还得让家长签字。爸爸一看我数学只得了93分，非常生气地说：“考这样的成绩，还买什么淘气包马小跳系列？”

我知道情况不妙，得赶紧想补救办法。我拿着卷子，悄悄走进自己的房间，不仅把错的地方改正过来，还在卷子后面重写了一遍，拿去给爸爸看，爸爸很严肃，并没有说我期待的话。一直到晚上，我都小心翼翼，恐怕再出什么差错。睡觉前，我还是不放心，问爸爸是否可以星期六去图书大厦买淘气包马小跳系列。爸爸说到星期六再说。

好不容易熬到星期五，老师告诉我们星期六不休息，上下周二的课。星期六我们又做了好几篇综合练习卷子，这一天我真不走运，数学又考砸了，仅得了85分。这回爸爸真的火了，不用他说，我已经知道他要说什么了。我心里有说不出的委屈，眼泪不停地往外涌。我喜欢的书，爸爸妈妈不愿意给我买，我不喜欢的书，他们却给我买了一大堆，你说我新年能快乐吗？！

You were so decent about it, Dad, and I think that was probably what made it the worst night of my life.Our relationship improved immensely when I married a man you liked, and things really turned around when we begin making babies right and left. We didn’t have a television set, you know, and we had to entertain ourselves somehow. I didn’t know what to expect of you and Mom as grandparents but I didn’t have to wait long to find out. Those babies adored you then just as they adore you now. When I see you with all your grandchildren, I know you’ve given them the finest gift a grandparent can give. You’ve given them yourself.

that it was you because the man driving looked so elderly and fragile behind the wheel of that huge car. It was rather like a slap in the face delivered from out of nowhere. Perhaps I saw your age for the first time that day. Or maybe I saw my own.

Fifty years ago this spring we planted kohlrabi together in a garden in Charles City, Iowa.

I didn’t know then that I would remember that day for the rest of my life. This week, we’ll plant kohlrabi together again, perhaps for the last time but I hope not. I don’t understand why planting kohlrabi with you is so important to me but it is. And the funny thing about it is, well, I don’t know quite how to tell you this, Dad...I don’t even like kohlrabi...but I like planting it with you.I guess what I’m trying to say, Dad, is what every son and daughter wants to say to their Dad today. Honoring a Father on Father’s Day is about more than a Dad who brings home a paycheck, shares a dinner table, and attends school functions, graduations, and weddings. It isn’t even so much about kohlrabi, ’54 Chevrolets, and fly-fishing. It’s more about unconditionally loving children who are snotty and stubborn, who know everything and won’t listen to anyone. It’s about respect and sharing and acceptance and tolerance and

giving and taking. It’s about loving someone more than words can say，and it’s wishing that it never had to end.

五十年前的一个春天，我们在依阿华州查理斯市的一个花园一起栽下苤蓝菜。

当时我也不知道我以后会怀念那一天。这一周，我们还要在一起栽苤蓝菜，这是第二次。也许，这是最后一次，可我并不希望那样。我不明白为什么我和您一起栽苤蓝菜我会感到很有意义，可事实上就有意义。而且，关于这个，有个有意思的事情，可我不知道该怎么和您说这事，爸爸?? 我不喜欢苤蓝菜??但是，我却喜欢和您一起栽苤蓝菜。

可爱的小动物能给人带来快乐，心仪的物品也能给人带来快乐，可我的快乐却是英语给的。

那天英语课前，我正在闷闷不乐地写着语文作业，同桌悄悄地对我说：“英语老师来了。”我连忙收起语文书，换成了英语书。“唉！又是英语课！”我叹了一口气。大家一定明白了，我就是那个怕上英语课的孩子。

英语课开始了，只听见英语老师说：“跟我念‘bus’。”“bus。”同学们齐声念道，而我却一点都不感兴趣，低下头做起小动作。

老师发现了，把我叫到教室前面，幽默地说道：“我认真地教你，你却不认真学，真是好雨落在了荒田里。”老师的话逗得大家哈哈大笑。

课继续上下去，同学们又读起了单词来。过了一会，老师把一道难题交给我答。我一脸漫不经心的样子，可是脱口而出的答案竟然蒙对了！我心里高兴极了，老师也给我竖起了大拇指。我下定决心，决定好好学英语。以后，老师给我出题的时候，我总能答对。有一次，我一不小心答错了，心里竟然还挺疼的。

我越来越喜欢学习英语了。老师布置的英语作业我总能认真完成。我还拿出笔写下许许多多英语单词，密密麻麻的。然后，我又一一默下来，错了的单词，我还抄下来订正。就这样，我的英语明显有了大大的好转，从40多分到80多分，在别人看来也许依然还差，但对于我已经很不错了。

在学习英语的过程中，我体会到了快乐的滋味。以后我一定好好学习英语，让快乐永远陪伴着我。
