Fathers Day exists almost all over the world to honor and commemorate fathers or forefathers. In the Roman Catholic tradition, Fathers Day is celebrated on Saint Josephs Day, March 19, though in most countries Fathers Day is a secular celebration.

In recent years, retailers have adapted to the holiday by selling male-oriented gifts such as electronics and tools. Schools and other childrens programs commonly have activities to make Fathers Day gifts.

In the United States, the driving force behind the establishment of the celebration of Fathers Day was Mrs Sonora Smart Dodd, born in Creston, Washington. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, as a single parent raised his six children in Spokane, Washington. She was inspired by Anna Jarviss efforts to establish Mothers Day. Although she initially suggested June 5, the anniversary of her fathers death, she did not provide the organizers with enough time to make arrangements, and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June. The first Fathers Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in Spokane.

Unofficial support from such figures as William Jennings Bryan was immediate and widespread. President Woodrow Wilson was personally feted by his family in 1916. President Calvin Coolidge recommended it as a national holiday in 1924. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson made Fathers Day a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The holiday was not officially recognized until 1972, during the presidency of Richard Nixon.

很自然地，我打开了盒盖，里面就放了一张卡片。我忍不住笑了，我还以为父亲在里面放了什么重要的东西呢。

卡片很普通，街上到处都买得到的那种，不过，卡片上图案很美：一支静静燃烧的蜡烛，一杯热气袅袅的咖啡。我的心动了一下。我觉得这张卡片我在哪里见过，一定见过。我慢慢拿起卡片，又慢慢地打开。洁白的卡片上，写着几个稚嫩的字：“爸爸，新年快乐?”旁边有一幅钢笔卡通画：一个戴眼镜的中年男人，牵着一个快乐的小女孩，向前迈着大步，身后留下一串串清晰的脚印…… 我认出来了，这张卡片是我送给父亲的。那还是上小学的事情，具体时间也记不清了。

有那么一阵子，学校流行送贺卡。我买了一摞，也顺便送了一张给父亲。但没想到，过了这么多年，父亲还一直珍藏着这张我早已忘却的卡片。上面的卡通画显然是父亲后来加上去的，我当时只在卡上写了几个字。 眼前的卡片变得模糊起来，泪水不知不觉涌出了眼眶。给父亲送张卡片并非一件难事，我却一直认为那只是儿时的浪漫，从没放在心里。这么多年，我再没有送过什么东西给父亲，不管是父亲的生日还是其它重要节日。然而，我又心安理得地接受着父亲送我的礼物，可我却很少打开橱门看看它们，也没感到它们的分量。

泪水，“啪”地一声滴落了，在卡片上溢开了一个圆圆的圈……

[父亲节高一作文

过去上体育课时，我总喜欢一个人运着篮球，自顾自地在大半个球场上练习。起初，同学们因为没有篮球，总是想找我一起玩。可我嫌他们人太多，而且球技不好，因此婉拒了他们的请求。渐渐地，来找我的人越来越少，直到没有一人。我心想，太好了，终于没人烦我了。

那天，我如往常一样在操场上练球。我从中场带球狂奔，到达三分线时，一个急停后撤，将球迅速从身后转到左手上，过掉假想的防守人。接着，我从左边突破，到达篮筐附近时纵身一跃，在空中停顿一会儿后，背对篮筐将球反勾入筐。

整套动作行云流水，甚至有几分NBA球星的味道。可正当我欢呼雀跃时，这才发现球场上空无一人。大家都坐在草坪上，有说有笑的，却都没有注意到我刚才精彩的表现。

我的心凉了一大截，感到了前所未有的孤寂。如果没有人欣赏的话，打得再好又有什么用呢?

于是，我走过去，邀请他们一起打球。我本以为他们会因为我之前的态度一口回绝，没想到他们听说后，很热情地接受了我的邀请。这让我反倒有些惭愧了。

我们很快分好组。随着“开始”的哨音，兴奋不已的我，迫不及待地发出了球。我迅速将球送入队友手中，灵机一动，闪入篮下。如果队友能够意识到，那我们就能打次漂亮的配合。

队友此时却开始运球，我正有些失望，只见他一个假动作晃开防守人员，将球丢向空中。我见此状，身体下蹲，鼓足劲一跃，在空中接到了球。未等落下，我一个“大风车”拉杆上篮，把球转入筐中。

“耶!”我兴奋地大喊道。

“好球!漂亮!”队友们也大呼过瘾。

此刻的我，快乐从心中迸发而出，渗入每一个细胞，愉悦之情难以言表。

Today, after school, my friends asked me to have dinner with them, I felt so happy and went the restaurant with them. Then I found they wanted to eat buffet, I was so happy, because I always wanted to have buffet, I could eat a lot of food.

As we paid the money more than we usually spent, so all of us wanted to eat as more as possible, even though we were full enough, we still tried to eat. I would go the wash room many times, so that I could continue to eat. I found eating the buffet should be a happy thing for me, but now it seemed to be a kind of torture, I always told myself to eat more than I could bear, my stomach hurt.

The experience to eat buffet lets me realize that I should enjoy the food instead of eat more than I could bear.

Presently， a new lifestyle called low carbon life is spreading every corner of our country. The concepts of low carbon are low energy and no waste. It is such a significant project that I can‘t wait to present my ideas on how to promote it.

目前，新的生活方式称为低碳生活传播我们国家的每一个角落。低碳的概念是低能耗和废物。这是个重大项目，我迫不及待地表达我的想法如何实现它。

On the first place， a no-car day is supposed to set up every week in our school. Because cars not only cause serious air pollution but also waste energy. On no-car day， neither students nor teachers are allowed to drive to school. Meanwhile， just walk， jump， cycle or run. Use our legs and enjoy the fun.

在第一个地方，一个无车日应该是在我们学校设立每周。因为汽车不仅会造成严重的空气污染，又浪费能源。对无车日，学生和老师都不允许开车去学校。同时，只是走，跳，循环或运行。使用我们的腿和享受的乐趣。

On the second place， we had best not use plastic bags any more. No one can stand the “white pollution”。 So， it is wise to use bags which can be reused again and again. Finally， one thing that we should keep in mind： every big thing comes from the subtle. Therefore， as students， we ought to turn out the lights the moment we leave， turn off the tap in time， and reuse our textbook and so on.

第二，我们最好不要使用塑料袋再。没有人能忍受“白色污染”。因此，使用袋可重复使用一次又一次是明智的。最后，有一件事，我们应该牢记：每一个大的东西都来自微妙。因此，作为学生，我们应该关灯当我们离开，关闭水龙头的时间，我们的教科书和重用等。

All in all， it weighs greatly for all of us to put the low carbon lifestyle into practice. Just set our mind to these： no-car day， no plastic bags， and no waste. Let‘s do it now.

总之，它的重量为我们所有人付诸实践低碳生活。只是这些设置我们的思想：无车日，没有塑料袋，没有浪费。让我们现在就做。
