The first day of my high school, I was told that the freshmen would need to join the military training.

I felt so scared, because in the summer days, the sun was so hot and I would be burned like a black man. But there was no way for the freshman to refuse to join the military training.

教官将我们带到主席台面前，开始了军训开营仪式。一个麦克风在教育我们南江中学初一级的所有学员，我们有些方面做的不好时，便会惩罚我们跑圈、深蹲、爬战术等。这些惩罚做起来时很辛苦、很疲惫，但我们不抱怨，不会去恨教官，因为教官是为了我们好，锻炼我们的自律自觉、团结性和纪律性。

跑圈，每一圈400米，如果我们某些方面做得不好时便会跑2-3圈;深蹲，蹲起来再起立时很累，还要加上双手摆平的结合来做，这增加了难度，如果我们某些方面做得不好时便会做上10个-50个之间;爬战术，在水泥地或草地上爬，全身着地，手会受伤、擦伤，如果我们某些方面做不好便会爬个来回，但我们都坚持下来了，我们集体被惩罚了很多次，手有伤，脚有痛，但我们集体偶读坚持下来了，也让我学会了坚强。

Charlie Plumb was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. He flew 74 consecutive successful combat missions. However on his 75th mission, his F4Phantom fighter was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile and he was forced to eject. The only thing between him and imminent death was his parachute that he prayed would open. The parachute did open and Charlie made it down to the ground alive, but he was captured and spent 6 years as a prisoner of war in a Vietnamese prison camp.

Think about this for yourself. How many times in life do you pass the people who help you out the most? The people who come out of the far corners of your life just when you need them the most and pack your parachutes for you? The people who go the extra mile, the people who dont look for the kudos or the accolades or the achievement medal or even the bonus check—the folks who are just out there packing parachutes?

The first day for me to come to the high school, my head-teacher told us the news that we needed to take the military train. We were all shocked, it was so hot outside, how terrible it was. 刚开始我们做的动作一点儿都不整齐，经过教官一次又一次的纠正，我们一次又一次的努力，总算能像教官一样——站如杨树，蹲如雕塑。一个个挺拔的身影，洪亮的口号声久久回荡在篮球场上，这分明就是一个个军人在接受着人民的检阅啊！
