Can money buy happiness? Different people have different opinions. Some

think yes, while others hold the opposite.

It is true that with enough money one can buy all the things one wants, and

live a life of comfort and security. However, it is equally true that lack of

money causes great distress. It is a common view that "money is the root of all

evil." The pursuit of money drives many people to cheat and steal. In some

The Value of Reading Books

People often say that gold and silver are the most valuable things in the world.ButI don‘t think so. In my opinion, to read books is more valuable than anything else.

The old saying "To open a book is always helpful" clearly tells us how good it is to read a book.

Books are our friends. They introduce us different kinds of knowledge. They lead us down the road to success.

Books are our teachers. They teach us troth, science, literature, and philosophy of life. Besides, they increase our knowledge, enlarge our experience,strengthen our character and do many other things which we can not do without them.

Books tell us what is good and what is evil. And only books can tell the good from the bad.

Therefore to read more books is the best policy for our young students.

读书的价值

人们常说金子和银子是世界上最有价值的东西，但我不这样认为。在我看来，读书比任何其他事情更有价值。

“开卷有益”清楚地告诉了我们读书有多好。

书是我们的朋友。它们向我们介绍不同种类的知识，它指导我们沿着成功之路前行。

书是我们的老师。它们教我们真理、科学、文学和生活的哲理，同时它们增加了我们的知识，扩大了我们的视野，增强了我们的个性，使我们还做了在没有书的情况下绝不可能完成的其他事情。

书能让我们明辨是非，并且只有书才能让我们吸取反面教训。

因此，读更多的书是我们青少年学生的明智之举。

《桃花源记》是陶渊明的代表作之一，约作于永初二年(421)，即南朝刘裕弑君篡位的第二年。这时作者归隐田园已经16年了。年轻时的陶渊明本有“大济苍生”之志，可是，他生活的时代正是晋宋易代之际，东晋王朝极端腐败，对外一味投降，安于江左一隅之地。统治集团生活荒淫，内部互相倾轧，军阀连年混战，赋税徭役繁重，加深了对人民的剥削和压榨。在国家濒临崩溃的动乱岁月里，陶渊明的一腔抱负根本无法实现。同时，东晋王朝承袭旧制，实行门阀制度，保护高门士族贵族官僚的特权，致使中小地主出身的知识分子没有施展才能的机会。像陶渊明这样一个祖辈父辈仅做过一任太守一类官职，家境早已败落的寒门之士，当然就“壮志难酬”了。加之他性格耿直，清明廉正，不愿卑躬屈膝攀附权贵，因而和污浊黑暗的现实社会发生了尖锐的矛盾，产生了格格不入的感情。义熙元年(405)，他仓促而坚决地辞去了上任仅81天的彭泽县令，与统治者最后决裂，长期隐居田园，躬耕僻野。

他虽“心远地自偏”，但“猛志固常在”，仍旧关心国家政事。元熙二年六月，刘裕废晋恭帝为零陵王，改年号为“永初”。次年，刘裕采取阴谋手段，用毒酒杀害晋恭帝。这些不能不激起陶渊明思想的波澜。他从固有的儒家观念出发，产生了对刘裕政权的不满，加深了对现实社会的憎恨。但他无法改变、也不愿干预这种现状，只好借助创作来抒写情怀，塑造了一个与污浊黑暗社会相对立的美好境界，以寄托自己的政治理想与美好情趣。《桃花源记》就是在这样的背景下产生的。周敦颐：宋代思想家理学家，原名敦实，字茂叔 .号濂溪，道州营县今湖南道县 他为官清政廉洁所到之处，都很有实绩.他在南康郡任职期间曾在庐山莲花 峰下筑室，定居于此前有溪命名濂溪晚年在此设濂溪书院讲学，世称濂溪先生.谥号为“元”，又被称为“元公”。他性情朴实，平生不慕钱财，爱谈名理.他虽在各地作官，但俸禄甚微，一生澹泊名利不求闻达，可见他人品高洁.他酷爱莲花，曾带领属下在官署东侧挖池种莲，名为爱莲池，旁造六角亭，叫赏莲亭.每当夏天，莲花盛开，披霞含露，亭亭玉立，微风吹过，田田荷叶轻轻摇，朵朵鲜花颔首笑，阵阵馨香扑面爽.此时，他凭栏放目，触景生情.深感 当时官场的黑暗，世风的浑浊，深爱莲的高洁，写下了著名的 >还经常在池边吟诵，可见作者爱莲爱的确实与众不同啊，作者的高洁人品也蕴涵在这篇短文里.
