在我国的北方有一种习俗，就是吃饺子，饺子的谐音即“交子”，表达了人们对更岁交子，对新的一年吉祥富裕的一种渴望。而南方人则喜欢在大年的早晨吃汤圆，意味着我们在新的一年里圆圆满满，团团圆圆。人们还喜欢把一种叫“荠菜”的蔬菜和汤圆一块吃，“荠菜”有被称作“聚财”意喻在新的一年招财进宝，心想事成。
