The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is a significant (有意义的)holiday celebrated

(庆祝)in China, and the one with the longest history (历史最悠久). The Dragon Boat

Festival is celebrated by boat races (龙舟赛) in the shape of dragons. Competing

teams (竞争团队) row their boats forward to a drumbeat (击古)racing to reach the

finish end first.

The boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival are traditional customs

(传统习俗)to attempts to (试图)rescue (搭救) the patriotic poet (爱国诗人)Chu Yuan. Chu Yuan

drowned (溺死) on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in 277 B.C. Chinese

citizens now throw bamboo leaves (竹叶) filled with cooked rice into the

water.

Therefore the fish could eat the rice rather than the hero poet. This later

on turned into the custom of eating tzungtzu and rice dumplings(棕子).

The celebrations is a time for protection (防护) from evil (邪恶) and disease

(疾病) for the rest of the year. It is done so by different practices such as

hanging healthy herbs on the front door, drinking nutritious concoctions (营养品),

and displaying (展示) portraits (画像) of evils nemesis(邪恶报应), Chung Kuei. If one

manages to (成功做...) stand (直立)an egg on its end at exactly 12:00 noon, the

following year will be a lucky one.

Today, people eat bamboo-wrapped steamed glutinous(粘的) rice dumplings

called zongzi (the food originally intended to feed the fish) and race dragon

boats in memory of Qus dramatic death.

Which is better, shopping online or traditional shopping? Different people

have different attitudes towards it. Some people think that online shopping is

very convenient, for it can save them a lot of time and energy. It’s especially

helpful for those who are always busy with their work. Besides, through the

internet, they can get more information about the commodities they want to buy

Nevertheless, I’m not keen on online shopping at all, since most

My winter vacation

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. I wake up 11 oclock Am everyday, after a washing, I have a good lunch with my parents. Next I play computer games till the time to have supper. After have dinner. I go on playing till 2 oclock Am, and then go to sleep with tired. This is one dull day of my winter vacation.

But I havent bored all the time. Sometimes I read the books, sometime I listen to the music or the radio in the bed, because it was very cold outside and snowy all the day. And I also meat some of my good friends during the vacation, we have a very long talk about the life of each other in the past year and play table tennis tegether. 我从书上了解到目前我国的各种能源呈现出日渐减少的趋势。例如，2005年时，我国的标准煤年生产总量为20.6亿吨，年消费总量为22.2亿吨(20.6-22.2=-1.6亿吨)。从这个数字可以明显看出，能源消费的数量远远超过了能源生产的数量，仅一年标准煤就短缺1.6亿吨。如果年年都这样下去，将出现多么严重的局面啊!再看看以下资源的情况：我国当前森林资源总量不足，森林覆盖率只有18.21%，相当于世界森林覆盖率的61.52%;铁矿石产量不足，影响了钢铁的生产，因此，我国每年还要进口相当数量的铁矿石和优质钢材，否则其他的工业生产就因钢材不足受到了影响。看来，根据目前我国经济飞速发展的需要，木材、铁矿石等原材料始终处于供不应求的状态，

I like running because I think it’s a funny and easy sport. I can do it by myself. I was not very healthy when I was a little child. So my father took me running with him. He said it’s good for me. Should students go on further study or find a job after leaving high

school?

Time spent in campus is not always treated with gracious look, but some

parents may choose other ways for the longevity of their childrens

post-high-school period, namely, find the adolescents a job, rather than sending

them to a college. I can find myself against this act for a thousand reasons,

amongst which we can figure some strongest ones as follows:

My first con against this behavior is that education is not just a benefit

but also ones rights. Without education , as Gorge Orwell had once said ,is to

be deprived of the most precious privilege in our time as a modern man. With

college education , youngsters can choose a better way of doing thing correctly

and more efficiently. The sharp contrast between those who have received well

education and those without is not just financially, but more vitally,

spiritually.

Admittedly, we can find cases of some one achieves without college

education, but these cases are famous only because they are rare. Those people

who succeed with a college degree are so many that this would seem to be a must

and a natural part of elites. The absence of university education is hard to

imagine in our days. The prospect of those juvenile workers or businessmen would

Unable to regain the respect of the emperor，in his sorrow Chu Yuan threw himself into the Mi Low river. Because of their admiration for Chu Yuan， the local people living adjacent to the Mi Lo River rushed into their boats to search for him while throwing rice into the waters to appease the river dragons.

Although they were unable to find Chu Yuan，their efforts are still commemorated today during the Dragon Boat Festival.

When asked about their opinion of career and family, people always respond differently. Some people deem it more important to pursue their career, while there are always other people who argue that family should be the number one in one’s life.

It goes without any question that career plays a key role in our life. In the very first place, career can give us an aim to live on. Without career, much of our living time will be certainly wasted. What’s more, career can provide us with a means to live on. Most of the people earn their income from a job. On the other hand, family is also an indispensable part of life, as many people will admit. Family is always regarded as a place where we can escape from troubles in life. 我还看过一本新编的《十万个为什么》，里面说：“自古以来，古人们都会节约用木头，即使他们去砍树来烧饭做菜也会利用树木，他们只是砍掉一棵树的顶端部，使树木不会断绝生机，让它们还会继续生长，这样就不会毁坏大自然。可是到20世纪90年代初，全球本来100﹪的树木却一瞬间用去了25﹪的树木，那个时候还剩75﹪的树木。从那起，人们就开始疯狂砍伐树木，弄得树木越来越少。美国和英国每天砍伐树木约80亩，这样一来没过多久，全球的树木要全被砍光了!”

听了我那么多的介绍，同学们!这些种种事情，难道还不能给我们教训与启示吗?哦，还有全世界的叔叔阿姨、爷爷奶奶、哥哥姐姐、弟弟妹妹、伯伯你们都知道应当怎么保护大自然了吗?大自然中还有更多需要我们去保护的地方，不仅是大自然需要我们的保护，环境也需要我们来保护!让我们一起来保护大自然吧!

Hello! I’m Jessie. I like English very much, because of my English teacher,

In my eyes, she’s not a teacher, but a lovely girl and a good friend of

mine. She is not tall. She is thin. She has the long hair. Her face is round.

There are two small eyes on her face. She likes smiling. When she smiles, her

eyes just like the moon at the beginning of the month. I think she is very

beautiful girl.

She’s very kind, like an old friend. She can sing. She can draw. She can

dance. She can speak very good English. She can tell us stories. She can play

games with us. When we have an English lesson, we feel very happy. All of us are

interested in her lesson.

I have a good teacher. I think I’m very lucky.
