The Spring Festival is our traditional festival, the common saying is that it is a new year.

One day before the new year, people would go to the shops in the sea of people to buy things. Some people buy chickens, ducks, goose, some people buy fish and meat, and others buy Biscuits, chocolate and other snacks...

One day at noon, my father took the broom and sweep around the house. Mother wiped the table and the window with a rag. And what about me? It is to put the ornaments of the new year on the wall. The whole house became clean and beautiful. We are very happy.

The new year, for our children, is the most addictive, I look forward to that day early.

中国农历年的岁首称为春节是中国人民最隆重的传统节日。也象征团结、兴旺。未来寄托新的希望的佳节。

每年过春节，晚上我在客厅准备就餐，妈妈这位大厨在厨房忙得不可开交。我们在外面有说有笑。开放了，有皮蛋拌豆腐，回锅肉，麻辣鸡翅。。。。都是我最爱吃的!干杯声，欢笑声，祝福声，都在我耳边回荡。

吃晚饭，我们迫不及待跑去放鞭炮，顿时，屋前屋后便成了烟花炮竹的世界，烟花五彩缤纷，争奇斗艳，就像仙女散花一样升上空中，又慢慢落了下来。有的像秋菊，月季，万紫千红，千奇百怪。有的像流星，猛地蹿上天空。这绚丽的色彩真是美丽极了!

我们正玩得高兴，我看了一下手表;呀!快到八点了，春节联欢晚会要开始了。大家纷纷走进房间看晚会。大家坐在电视前有说有笑。这时，爷爷拿了一个大红包向我走过来说;发压岁钱了，新年快乐!

我喜欢过春节!

It seems we are living in the conflict between modern and traditional cultures every day.Hearing the blaring of horns the moment you step out of your house,seeing the so called "pop" the moment you open your eyes,you cant help thinking,"Will the traditional culture be gradually lost?"

Many people believe so.They may put right in front of you all the evidences they can dig out.They may argue that people are rushing to restaurants instead of cooking at home,listening to pop music but not traditional,wearing in a way people couldnt imagine ten years ago.Modern people like the air of freedom,not to be restrained by traditions.They offer this long list,only trying to confirm that this world is full of fashion,competition and temptation and the traditional culture is fading and will be lost at last.

Though we are now living in a world in which undeclared aggression,war,hypocrisy,chicanery,anarchy are part of our daily life.Though this is a skeptical age,and our faith has weakened,our confidence in some aspects of the traditional culture should and would never be lost.

Wouldnt you agree that our traditional culture is always credited with modesty,politeness and respectfulness,which have always been treasured for more than five thousand years?Even in this modern world,people still admire those with good manners,those who are polite to others or respectful to old people.

Wouldnt you agree that our Chinese traditional music is beautiful and artistic and our Chinese tea culture is always an appealing treasure to people around the world?

So there may just be some changes in our lifestyle or our attitudes towards life,but little change occurs to some fundamental aspects of our traditional culture that people still treasure in heart.

The traditional culture will never be lost,I believe.

天津人称腊月初八为“腊八儿”，有喝腊八粥的习俗。许多天津人还在这天用醋泡大蒜，名“腊八醋”。腊月十五开始，各式各样的年货全都上市，以娘娘宫为轴心的宫南宫北大街更是热闹非凡。男孩子到娘娘宫头一个目标就是风葫芦，成年男人到这里，忘不了买灯笼，女人们来这里多是“洗娃娃”的。从娘娘宫拴回的“娃娃”每年都要“洗一回”，这是节前妇女必须做完的事情。

腊月二十三，是灶王爷升天的日子，家家要买糖瓜儿，等到夜里12点祭灶王爷。待香燃尽后，请下灶王像，点火烧了，大年三十再买新的灶王像，又叫“灶王码子”换上，年复一年，都是这样。天津还有春节贴吊钱儿的习俗，吊钱儿是用彩纸剪刻成的图案，贴在门窗的玻璃和横棱上，作为春节喜庆气氛的点缀。贴上的吊钱儿只能到正月初五那天损坏，否则就意味着一年不吉利。

天津人称正月初五为“破五”，这一天，家家户户吃饺子，菜板要剁得叮咚响，让四邻听见，以示正在剁“小人”。天津人把不顺心的事归结到“小人”的身上，除掉“小人”才能大吉大利，顺顺当当，初五晚上放鞭炮，也有避邪免灾的意味。

TheSpring Festival is the most important festival in China. It is a custom to give lucky money to children. I get lucky money every year. I will put most of it in the bank, and spend the rest on some books. This year is no exception(也不例外) and I also got lucky money.With it, I bought some school things for several poor students in Ningxia，hoping the things can bring some happiness to them.

For you, I think it’s a good idea to buy a gift with the lucky money for your hostfamily before you leave China. You can also buy some Chinese gifts for your parents and friends in England. Or, just keep it as good memories.
