原来，以前过年还有一种放鞭炮的习俗，来源于“年兽”的故事。很久以前有一只“年兽”，长期居住深海底，到了除夕就跃出海面到处作恶。有一年一个老人用放炮，穿红衣，贴红春联的方法驱赶走“年兽”，这才得以平静，此后这个方法就流传开来。但是现在广州禁止燃放烟花爆竹，所以我们就不再进行这个活动了。
