During this Spring Festival, I have a good time. First of all, I did so well in the final exam that makes my parents very happy. They say that it’s their best gift for the New Year. Traditional Culture Wont Be Lost

It seems we are living in the conflict between modern and traditional cultures every day. Hearing the blaring of horns the moment you step out of your house, seeing the so called "pop" the moment you open your eyes, you cant help thinking, "Will the traditional culture be gradually lost?"

Many people believe so. They may put right in front of you all the evidences they can dig out. They may argue that people are rushing to restaurants instead of cooking at home, listening to pop music but not traditional, wearing in a way people couldnt imagine ten years ago. Modern people like the air of freedom, not to be restrained by traditions. 佛教在中国的发展可分为两个历史阶段。一是吸收阶段，从东汉到魏晋南北朝，再到隋唐，共七八百年。这时中国主要是吸收印度传来的佛教文化。二是佛教中国化的阶段，隋唐以来，天边台、华严、特别是禅宗的形成和发展，表明了佛教在中国已具特色，逐渐走上独立发展的道路，成了中华民族文化的重要组成部分。唐代贞观年间，玄奘大师从印度留学归来后，标志着中国向印度学习佛教的过程基本结束，并在隋唐时期形成了十大宗派。就中国大乘佛教的八大派而言，三论、唯识、律宗和密宗的印度文化气息较为显著，而天台、华严、禅宗则中国文化的气息就重得多——在印度是难以找到这种文化气息的。

虽然禅宗的许多特点都带有儒道等中国文化的思想，而禅宗的根本目的——彻证“无生法忍”——却是印度佛教思想的精华所在，为中土文化所无。而禅宗内浸透了这一点，这无疑是接受了佛教思想才开放出的璀灿之花。

有一些人对“中国化的佛教”不以为然，认为应以印度佛教为标准。其实禅宗乃至天台、华严都是中国文化发展的产物，是中华民族的骄傲。如果抽取出禅宗的成分，中国思想史、中国哲学史就讲不下去。在唐代至五代之后，禅宗成了中国佛教的主流和核心，就代表着佛教。不了解禅宗，就没有资格说了解了中国 文化。
