The Dragon Boat Festival is a lunar (阴历)holiday, occurring (存正)on the fifth

day of the fifth lunar month (农历史五月第五天). Dragon Boat Festival is my favourite

festival.During the holiday of Dragon Boat Festival,I got together with my

family to have a big meal.We ofen ate the zongzi.It tasted very nice.And we saw

the Dragon Boat Races.I felt excited because the race was bustling with noise

and excitement.At Dragon Boat Festival,we also drank realgar wine.Some people

thought drank realgar wine can protect themselves from illness.Dragon Boat

Festival was interesting and I like it very much.

The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is a significant (有意义的)holiday celebrated

(庆祝)in China, and the one with the longest history (历史最悠久). The Dragon Boat

Festival is celebrated by boat races (龙舟赛) in the shape of dragons. Competing

teams (竞争团队) row their boats forward to a drumbeat (击古)racing to reach the

finish end first.

The boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival are traditional customs

(传统习俗)to attempts to (试图)rescue (搭救) the patriotic poet (爱国诗人)Chu Yuan. Chu Yuan

drowned (溺死) on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in 277 B.C. Chinese

citizens now throw bamboo leaves (竹叶) filled with cooked rice into the

water.

Therefore the fish could eat the rice rather than the hero poet. This later

on turned into the custom of eating tzungtzu and rice dumplings(棕子).

The celebrations is a time for protection (防护) from evil (邪恶) and disease

(疾病) for the rest of the year. It is done so by different practices such as

hanging healthy herbs on the front door, drinking nutritious concoctions (营养品),

and displaying (展示) portraits (画像) of evils nemesis(邪恶报应), Chung Kuei. If one

manages to (成功做...) stand (直立)an egg on its end at exactly 12:00 noon, the

following year will be a lucky one.

陈老师，您是教过我的最严厉的老师，也是最负责任的老师。

Mid-autumn Day is more or less like Spring Festival. It falls on the 15th

a family reunion day.

On that day, there will be a big family dinner. Everyone who works outside

will go back home for the union. And they also eat moon cakes, which are the

special food for this festival. There are various kinds of moon cakes. They are

so delicious that everyone enjoys them very much.

In the evening, the moon is so bright and round, so people always prepare

some fruits and moon cakes and put them under the moon so as to pray for the

health and security all the year round. It seems that everyone is so happy.

China has a long history of more than 5,000 years, so the variety of

culture has been preserved. These meaningful cultures are treated as our

national treasure. In order to remember them, the government has named the

official holiday. Tomb-sweeping Day is one of the meaningful festivals. People

have days’ off every year and the families will get together, sweeping their

ancestors’ tombs. People believe that they do this can bring good luck, because

their ancestors will bless them. Some people question the meaning of this

festival, because they think people are superstitious. As for me, I think this

day teaches people to in honor of their ancestors and respect the culture. It is

not something about superstition, but about showing respect to the culture. We

need to pass on our culture from generations, or we will lose our national

treasure.
