Also, as double ninth was pronounced the same as the word to signify forever, both are Jiu Jiu, the Chinese ancestors considered it an auspicious day worth celebration. That‘s why ancient Chinese began to celebrate this festival long time ago.

The custom of ascending a height to avoid epidemics was passed down from long time ago. Therefore, the Double Ninth Festival is also called Height Ascending Festival. The height people will reach is usually a mountain or a tower. Ancient literary figures have left many poems depicting the activity. Even today, people still swarm to famous or little known mountains on this day.

On this day, people will eat Double Ninth Gao (or Cake). In Chinese, gao (cake) has the same pronunciation with gao (height). People do so just to hope progress in everything they are engaged in. There is no fixed ways for the Double Ninth Cake, but super cakes will have as many as nine layers, looking like a tower.

The Double Ninth Festival is also a time when chrysanthemum blooms. China boasts diversified species of chrysanthemum and people have loved them since ancient times. So enjoying the flourishing chrysanthemum also becomes a key activity on this festival. Also, people will drink chrysanthemum wine. Women used to stick such a flower into their hair or hang its branches on windows or doors to avoid evilness.

In 1989, the Chinese government decided the Double Ninth Festival as Seniors‘ Day. Since then, all government units, organizations and streets communities will organize an autumn trip each year for those who have retired from their posts. At the waterside or on the mountains, the seniors will find themselves merged into nature. Younger generations will bring elder ones to suburban areas or send gifts to them on this day.

Today is the annual national holiday, is a happy day.

I and my father and mother go to the zoo to play. We entered the park, we saw where the sea of people, like a long queue, more like a happy ocean.

Animal in the zoo is so much! There are cute little bunny, there are bulky gorillas, and that beautiful peacock. There are mandarin ducks in the water play, I throw food to them, they immediately ran over to snatch, really too cute. The most interesting is the monkeys of the iron gate, where they jump and jump, there is a group of macaques in the grab bottle! 今天是一年一度的国庆节，是个令人开心的日子。

我和爸爸妈妈去动物园玩。我们进了园，就看见那里人山人海，就像是一条长龙，更像是一片欢乐的海洋。

动物园里的动物可真多呀!有可爱的小兔子，有笨重的大猩猩，还有那美丽的孔雀。远处有鸳鸯在水中嬉戏，我扔了食物给它们，它们就立刻跑过来抢食，真是太可爱了。最有趣的就是铁门边的那些猴子，它们在那里跳来跳去，还有一群猕猴在抢瓶子呢!只要有人拿瓶子逗它们玩，它们就很灵活地过来抢。有些顽皮的小孩子递给它们可乐，它们毫不客气，接过就大口大口地喝了起来。这真是一群淘气又聪明的猴子呀!

一路走去，不时有鸟儿在我头上飞过，叽叽喳喳的，好像在欢迎我们的到来。河中鱼儿在自由自在地游着，那么惬意，我多么希望自己也能变成一条鱼儿，可以和它们一起嬉戏。今天真是个好日子，我好想放声歌唱，祖国祖国我爱您!

My best friend is Jim. He is a cool boy. He has curly blond hair, big

eyes and a small mouth. He likes to eat strawberries and bananas, and he loves

sports. He often plays basketball in the school playground. He watches sports

every night. He has good manners and studies well, so everyone likes to make

friends with

him.

I went to visit the Great Wall with my friends during the summer vacation.

We went there by bus. It took us about two hours to get there. It was hot and

windy that day. There were thousands of people. When we saw a group of

foreigners,we went up and talked with them. We told them lots of history of the

Great Wall. They were very surprised when they saw that our English were

exellent and we knew a lot about the Great Walls history. They thanked us a lot

and we really had a good time. We felt proud of ourselves and being Chinese.

我和我的朋友在夏令营期间去了长城，我们是乘汽车去的，经过两个小时才到的那儿。那天天气很热，风也很大，那里有很多很多的人，当我们看到一群外国人的时候，我们上去和他们攀谈。我们告诉他们很多关于长城的故事，他们非常惊讶我们的英语是如此的好，而且我们还懂那么多关于长城的故事。他们非常感谢我们，而我们也度过了愉快的一天。我们为自己是一名中国人而感到很自豪。

今天是中国传统的节日——中秋节。传说今天有嫦娥的故事，此夜，人们仰望天空如玉如盘的朗朗明月，自然会期盼家人团聚。远在他乡的游子，也借此寄托自己对故乡和亲人的思念之情。

我们在国内不管是上班的，还是学生都放假了，为庆祝着传统的节日。不知在世界另一端的你此时在干什么，你们没有放假吧，今天周五，你应该还在上学吧。

我想是不是没有朋友会给你送月饼，就算有，他们应该也不知道你最喜欢五仁月饼吧（因为你说那些果仁就像家人一样紧紧的拥抱在一起）。是不是没有人会明白你思念家乡的感情，是不是一个人在望着月亮给家人打电话。

不知道你在看那轮望月的时候有没有想念我们，但我们是很想你。中秋明明是团聚的日子，可你却在国外，一个人远去美国，只为追逐自己的理想。中秋我们只能在电脑网络的连线上看看你的脸庞，只能在电话里听听你的声音。

今天你在国外，即使没有家人陪伴也应该好好的过一次我们中国的传统节日，你还可以拉上你的美国朋友，好好的让他们感受一下中国文化的魅力。
