don’t try your best.

We often hear people say, “Never give up.” A person who believes in these

words will keep trying to pursue his goal no matter how many times he fails. In

my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to have.

Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.

One reason is that if we give up easily, we will achieve nothing. It is not

unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not

feel discouraged. Besides, if we always give up when fail happens, we will can

not develop new skills. Finally, we should never give up because as we work to

reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed

在我们身边生活着这样的一群人——他们既没有三头六臂，也没有大富大贵，有的甚至三姑六婆的有些八卦，既没有才子的翩翩风度，也没有美女的优雅气质，但却有着一副天生的“爱管闲事”的热心肠，凡事爱凑个热闹，爱管个闲事，谁家的家长里短他们都清楚，谁家有个大凡小事的他们都帮忙，遇上个陌生人，他们也能搭个讪，拉个瓜，不知道的人还以为他们认识了很久呢，自诩有些文化的人称这些人为“八卦的人”。你可别小瞧了他们，正是因为有了他们的存在，我们的社会才有了温暖，变得和谐。

我的身边就有这样一个“典型八卦”的老头儿，他不是别人，正是我的外公。

今年年过古稀的外公耳不聋，眼不花，腿脚灵活，身板硬朗，啃得动骨头，干的动农活，十几亩的庄稼被他侍弄的妥妥帖帖。黝黑的脸上时常挂着灿烂的笑容，看上去是那么的亲切，在很远的地方就能听见他和别人攀谈时爽朗的笑声和说话声。他最爱听的话就是别人夸他年轻，最爱干的活儿就是帮助别人，姥姥最爱抱怨他的话就是“狗拿耗子，多管闲事！”。

听妈妈说外公年轻的时候可是个大木匠，除了活做的精细，为人实在，还喜欢给主人出谋划策，替人节省成本。因此四邻八乡凡是盖新房的都喜欢找外公，她们姊妹几个念书都是靠外公干木匠活供养的。现在外公早已经不再做木匠活了，但家里还有很多做木工的工具呢。因此，队上的人今天这个安个锹把推个擀面杖，明天那个做个板凳修个桌子的，都找外公去解决，只要人家找来，他都会立即放下手中的活儿去帮忙，哪怕是正吃着饭呢，因此外婆对此很是不满，常常给妈妈告外公的状，说外公是“家活懒，外活勤，吃家饭，拉野屎”。

我印象中的外公也真是爱管闲事。

去年冬天，外公的村里来了个拉高压线的施工队，看工地的是个四川人。外公没事的时候就和这个人拉拉家常，扯扯外边的世界。有一天他回来让舅妈拌了满满一盆咸菜二话没说就给端走了，弄得舅妈还莫名其妙呢，回来才知道是因为外公看见那个四川人看工地，村子离城远，吃饭没有菜，他自告奋勇的送人咸菜。

外公家有一件“法宝”——木质的人力手推车，外婆管它叫外公的“雷锋车”。现在家家都实现机械化了，谁还会用这个古董呢？原来，外公家离村里的米面加工厂近，邻居们碾米磨面的时候都从外公家门前过，爱管闲事的外公看着有的人家加工一半袋子粮食也要开着个三轮四轮的很不方便，于是他发挥自己的特长做了个木质的小型人力车，专供邻居们使用，因此这车便真的成了外公的“雷锋车”。

外公有个特点就是爱修路。他们家门前屋后的路都被他修的平平整整的，每逢下雪天，他总是起的早早的，把路扫的干干净净的，好像生怕把人给滑倒了。尤其是到收粮食的季节，外公总是先早早扛个锹从大路上巡逻一番，凡是路上有个坑坑洼洼的，他都垫的平平的。外婆总是嫌他多管闲事，浪费时间，可他总是笑呵呵的说：“路虽然是大家走，但是铺平了也会节省我们的时间”。
