My best festival is Spring Festival. It is in Janurary or February. It is the most important festival for the Chinese people. On that day everybody dresses up. First they extend greetings to their parents. Then each child will get money as a New Year gift, wrapped up in red paper.

People in northern China will eat jiaozi, or dumplings, for breakfast, the shape of the dumpling is like gold ingot from ancient China. 原来，这看似普通的一碗粥有这么深刻的意义，于是我赶快请妈妈传授做“福寿粥”的方法。妈妈告诉我，先准备好要用的材料：必不可少的是粥米，豆、枣三样，其他可根据自家人口味配比，如核桃、粟子，玉米、葡萄干等。玉米要提前泡3—4小时，其他材料可混合洗净，再将所有的材料一起放入锅内，加足量水，烧开小火熬成粥即可。喜欢甜的就放些冰糖一起熬，用紫砂煲，三小时就能喝上粥了……

在我们这里，腊八粥熬好后，先要敬神祭祖，再赠送亲友，一定要在中午之前送出去，最后才是全家人食用。吃剩的腊八粥，保存着吃了几天还有剩下，却是好兆头，取其“年年有余”的意思。
