The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play in a game.

It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?" The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the rest of the week off, son. And don‘t even plan to come back to the game on Saturday."

Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter,when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon. "Coach, please let me play. I‘ve just got to play today," said the young man. The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right," he said."You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked, and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His teammates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you never heard.

Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone The coach came to him and said, " Kid, I can‘t believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?"

He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"

Like the athlete‘s father, God is always there cheering for us. He‘s always reminding us to go on. He‘s even offering us His hand for He knows what is best, and is willing to give us what we need and not simply what we want. GOD has never missed a single game. 一般的故事都包含着哲理，如果先讲一则故事，把这个故事所包含的哲理当成我们要证明的观点或论据，那么，我们所提出的观点就会带有哲理。例如：

有一天，八仙向西王母拜寿回来，腾云驾雾从东海上空经过，只见海上波涛汹涌，白浪滔天，煞是壮观。于是，八仙决定到海面上玩一玩。

吕洞宾说：“大家把自己的宝物扔到海面上，借着它渡过大海，比一比谁更有神通，怎么样？”

铁拐李首先对这一建议表示欢迎，他兴致昂扬地说：“好啊！大家先看我的！”便把拐杖投向海中，拐杖像一条小船漂浮在水面，铁拐李一个筋斗，翻立在拐杖上。

接着汉钟离把他的芭蕉扇丢到海上，跳下去站在上面。

接着，其他几位仙人也各显神通，张果老倒骑着毛驴，吕洞宾踏着雌雄宝剑，韩湘子坐着萧，何仙姑乘着花篮，蓝采和站在拍板上，曹国舅踩着玉版，都在海面上漂浮了起来。

八仙安稳地顺着汹涌的波浪漂去，这与腾云驾雾感觉大不相同，别有一番新的刺激和情调，大家玩得好不快意。

这时，曹国舅突然用手指向右边，并高声喊道：

“大家看啊！那里有座海市蜃楼！”

大家转头一看，只见一座仙山渐渐地从海里升起，山上有树木，有楼房，一会儿就升到半空中，慢慢地变成天边的浮云，一转眼，那浮云又被风吹散了。

韩湘子说：“我们真是眼福不浅！蜃气是海里蛟龙嘘出来的气体 ，百年难得一见啊！”

突然 ，蓝采和从他们当中消失了。大家远近观望，一边找一边喊，可就是不见蓝采和的踪迹，张果老猜说：

“可能是东海龙王作怪，他不欢迎我们在他的海上大显神通，把蓝采和抓到龙宫去了，走 我们一起到龙宫要人去！”

大家来到龙宫，婉言请求龙王放人。龙王蛮不讲理，不但不肯，还派自己的几个儿子带领虾兵蟹将追杀八仙。八仙只得用随身的法宝当武器，抵抗虾兵蟹将，经过一场激烈的战斗之后，龙王的两个太子被八仙杀死了。

龙王一听，自己的两个儿子被八仙杀了，真是悲愤至极，商请南海、西海、北海龙王来帮忙。龙王的不依不饶，把八仙也给惹火了。铁拐李用酒葫芦把海水吸光，其余几位仙人将泰山搬了过来，往东海一扔，东海立刻变成了一座高 。

双方打得天昏地暗，日月无光，把太上老君、如来佛和观世音也惊动了，他们全都赶来调解。调解的结果是，由蓝采和送东海龙王两片玉版，作为杀两位太子的补偿泰山则由观世音负责搬回原处。

因为这一场纠纷，八仙被玉皇大帝降级一等。从此，八仙再也不敢到外面惹是生非了。

A boy found an eagles egg and he put it in the nest of a prairie chicken. The eagle hatched and thought he was a chicken. Instead of saying "I dont have time" try saying "its not a priority" and see how that feels. Often thats a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just dont want to. But other things are harder. Try it:

3、曾经有个人小国的人到中国来，进贡了三个一模一样的金人，把皇帝高兴坏了。可是这小国的人同时出了一个题目：这三个金人哪个最有价值？皇帝请来了珠宝匠检查，称重量，看做工，都是一模一样的。泱泱大国，不会被这点小问题难倒吧？最后，有位退休的老大臣说他有办法。皇帝将使者请到大殿，老臣拿着三根稻草，插入第一个金人的耳朵里，这稻草从另一个耳朵出来了。第二个金人的稻草从嘴里直接掉出来了，而第三个金人，稻草进去后掉进了肚子里，什么响动也没有了。老臣说：第三个金人最有价值！使者默默无语，答案正确。

（说明：最有价值的人，不一定上最能说的人，老天给我们两只耳朵一个嘴巴，本来就是让我们多听少说的。善于倾听，才是成熟的人最基本的素质。）

4、a对b说：我要离开这个公司。我恨这个公司！b建议道：我举双手赞成你报复！破公司一定要给他点颜色看看。不过你现在离开，还不是最好的时机。a问：为什么？b说：如果你现在走，公司的损失并不大，你应该趁着在公司的机会，拼命去为自己拉一些客户，成为公司独挡一面的人物，然后带着这些客户突然离开公司，公司才会受到重大损失，非常被动。a觉得b说的非常在理，于是努力工作，事遂所愿，半年多的努力后，他有了许多的忠诚客户。再见面时b问a：现在是时机恶劣，要跳赶快行动哦！a淡然笑道：老总跟我长谈过了，准备升我做总经理，我暂时没有离开的打算了。其实这也是b的初衷。

6、两个人在森林里遇到了一只大老虎，a就赶紧从背后取下一双运动鞋换上。b急死了，骂道：你干嘛呢，再换上鞋也跑不过老虎啊！a说：我只要跑得比你快就好了。

（说明：21世纪，没有危机感是最大的危机，电信，银行，甚至是公务员这些我们以为非常稳定和有保障的行业，也会面临许多的变数。当老虎来临时，我们有没有准备好自己的跑鞋？）

7、有个秀才第三次进京赶考，住在一个常住的店里，考试前两天他做了3个梦，第一个梦到自己在墙上种白菜，第二个梦是下雨天，他戴了斗笠还打伞，第三个梦是梦到跟心爱的表妹脱光了衣服躺在一起，但是背靠着背。这3个梦似乎有些深意，秀才第二天找算命的解梦。算命的一听，连拍大腿说：你还是回家把。你想想，高墙上种白菜不是白费劲吗？戴斗笠还打雨伞不是多此一举吗？跟表妹都脱光了躺在一起，却背靠背，不是没戏吗？秀才一听，心灰意冷，回店收拾包袱准备回家。店主觉得奇怪，询问之下秀才道知原委，店老板一听乐了：我也会解梦啊，我倒觉得，你这次一定要留下，你想想，墙上种菜不是高种（中）吗？戴斗笠打伞不是说明你这次有备无患吗？跟你表妹脱光了背靠背躺在床上，说明你翻身的时候就要到了 。秀才一听，更有道理，于是精神振奋地参加了考试，居然中了个探花。

（说明：积极的人，象太阳，照到哪里那里亮；消极的人，象月亮，初一十五不一样。想法决定我们的生活，有什么样的想法，就有什么样的未来。）

9、有7个人住在一起，每天分一大桶粥，要命的是，粥每天都是不够的。一开始，他们抓阄决定谁来分粥，每天轮一个，于是乎每周下来，他们只有一天是饱的，就是自己分粥的那一天。后来他们推选出一个道德高尚的人分粥。强权就会产生，大家开始挖空心思去讨好他，贿赂他，搞的整个小团体乌烟瘴气。然后大家开始组成三人的分粥委员会及四人的评选委员会，但他们常常互相攻击，扯皮下来，粥吃到嘴里全是凉的。最后想出来一个方法：轮流分粥，但分粥的人要等其他人都挑完后剩下的最后一碗。为了不让自己吃到最少的，每人都尽量分的平均。此后大家快快乐乐，和和气气，日子越过越好了。

（说明：同样是7个人，不同的分配制度，就会有不同的风气。所以一个单位如果有不好的工作习气，一定是没有完全公平公正公开，没有严格的奖勤罚懒。如何制订这样一个制度，是每个领导需要考虑的问题。）

Panda—the National Treasure

Panda is one of the scarcest animals.People in the world like it very much.There used to be many pandas in China long ago.As the balance of nature was destroyed and the weather was getting warmer and warmer,pandas became less.But at present,the number of pandas is increasing year by year.There are now so many pandas that some are being sent to other countries so that people there can enjoy them.

Nowadays,the biggest nature park for panda in China is in Sichuan.There is a research centre for nature and wild life there.Scientists hope that one day they will have enough pandas to be set free and let them live in the wild again.

Whenever a painful situation arises in your life, try to embrace it instead of running away or trying to mask the hurt. When the sadness strikes, take a deep breath and lean into it. When we run away from sadness that’s unfolding in our lives, it gets stronger and more real. We take an emotion that’s fleeting and make it a solid event, instead of something that passes through us.
