这里真是一副美丽的风景画，湖水碧波荡漾，波光粼粼。湖上不时有几条游船来来往往地穿梭着。湖中几条鲤鱼在水中嬉戏，溅出一朵朵亮晶晶的水花，“作出”了一圈圈的圆晕。湖边栽上了桃树和柳树，而且是每三棵桃树一枝柳，这正是唐代诗人李白在春天赏花时所描写的“花红柳绿”。瘦西湖在清代康乾时期就已形成了“两堤花柳依水，一路楼台直到山”的湖上园林景色了。
