On the day of the Mid-Autumn festival, people bought all kinds of things except moon cakes. Most of them were eaten. In the evening, the family ate reunion dinner, looking forward to the dark sky, hoping the moon would come out earlier.

The Mid-Autumn Festival The Mid-Autumn is a very important Chinese festival. It falls on the 15th day of August. A few days before the festival， everyone in the family will help to make the house clean and beautiful. Lanterns will be hung in front of the house.

On the evening there will be a big family dinner. People who work far away from their homes will try to come back for the union. After dinner， people will light the lanterns which are usually red and round. Children will play with their own toy lanterns happily.

At night the moon is usually round and bright. People can enjoy the moon while eating moon-cakes which are the special food for this festival. They can look back on the past and look forward to the future together. It is said that there was a dragon in the sky. The dragon wanted to swallow up the moon. To protect the frighten the dragon away.

中秋节是中国一个很重要的节日，在八月十五号。在节日来临的前几天，家庭中的每一个人都帮着打扫房子，把房子装扮得漂漂亮亮的，灯笼挂在屋前。

晚上有一顿美餐，离家在外工作的人也要回来团圆。晚饭后，人们点亮灯笼，一般是红色的圆灯笼。孩子们会高高兴兴地玩他们的玩具灯笼。

晚上月亮又圆又大，人们在赏月的同时吃着中秋节特别的食品——月饼。人们在一起回顾过去，展望未来。据说天上有一条龙，它要把月亮吞下去。为了保护月亮，孩子们要弄出很大的响动把龙吓跑。

Back home, our family around the table cut moon cakes, moon cakes have almond, ice skin, double yellow and so on, but my favorite double yellow, because it looks golden full, thin skin filling jing, taste palate is rich. The joyous Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on the fifteenth day of the

eighth moon, around the time of the autumn equinox(秋分). Many referred to it

simply as the "Fifteenth of the Eighth Moon".

This day was also considered as a harvest festival since fruits, vegetables

and grain had been harvested by this time and food was abundant. Food offerings

were placed on an altar set up in the courtyard. Apples, pears, peaches, grapes,

pomegranates(石榴), melons, oranges and pomelos(柚子) might be seen. Special foods

for the festival included moon cakes, cooked taro(芋头)and water caltrope(菱角), a

type of water chestnut resembling black buffalo horns. Some people insisted that

cooked taro be included because at the time of creation, taro was the first food

discovered at night in the moonlight. Of all these foods, it could not be

omitted from the Mid-Autumn Festival.

一年中的传统文化有春节、元宵节、端午节和中秋节。其中我最喜欢的是中秋节，因为中秋节可以吃月饼、赏月、合家团圆。

中秋节的时间是每年的农历八月十五日，我国从古代就有赏月的习俗，还有许多美丽的传说，比如说嫦娥奔月、吴刚伐桂、玉兔捣药等等。中秋节还有吃月饼的习俗，因为月饼圆圆的，象征着团圆。现在的月饼很多，口味各不相同，有甜的有咸的。馅料也很丰富，有五仁的、有果脯的、有豆沙的、有枣泥的、有椰蓉的，还有蛋黄的等等。我最喜欢的是果脯馅的，因为它甜甜的，很好吃。

我喜欢中秋节，祝愿天下的小朋友都能和家人过一个团圆节。

中秋节的传说是非常丰富的，嫦娥奔月，玉兔捣药之类的神话故事流传甚广。

中秋传说之一--嫦娥奔月

相传，远古时候天上有十日同时出现，晒得庄稼枯死，民不聊生，一个名叫后羿的英雄，力大无穷，他同情受苦的百姓，登上昆仑山顶，运足神力，拉开神弓，一气射下九个多太阳，并严令最后一个太阳按时起落，为民造福。

后羿因此受到百姓的尊敬和爱戴，后羿娶了个美丽善良的妻子，名叫嫦娥。后羿除传艺狩猎外，终日和妻子在一起，人们都羡慕这对郎才女貌的恩爱夫妻。

一天，后羿到昆仑山访友求道，巧遇由此经过的王母娘娘，便向王母求得一包不死药。据说，服下此药，能即刻升天成仙。然而，后羿让嫦娥将药藏进梳妆台的百宝匣里，不料被蓬蒙看见了，他想偷吃不死药成仙。

三天后，后羿外出狩猎，蓬蒙假装生病，留了下来。后翼走后，蓬蒙手持宝剑闯入内宅后院，逼嫦娥交出不死药。嫦娥知道自己不是蓬蒙的对手，便转身打开百宝匣，拿出不死药一口吞了下去。嫦娥吞下药，身子立时飘离地面、冲出窗口，向天上飞去。成了神仙。

傍晚，后羿回到家，知道了白天发生的事。痛不欲生，这时他惊奇地发现，今天的月亮格外皎洁明亮，而且有个晃动的身影酷似嫦娥。他拼命朝月亮追去，可是他追三步，月亮就向前走三步。

后羿无可奈何，又思念妻子，只好到嫦娥喜爱的后花园里，摆上香烛，放上她平时最爱吃的鲜果，祭在天上眷恋着自己的嫦娥。

所以中秋节就是怎么来的。

In the Zhou Dynasty, people hold ceremonies to greet winter and worship the moon whenever the Mid-Autumn Festival sets in. In the Southern Song Dynasty , however, people send round moon cakes to their relatives as gifts in expression of their best wishes of family reunion. When it becomes dark, they look up at the full silver moon or go sightseeing on lakes to celebrate the festival. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties , the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival celebration becomes unprecedented popular. Together with the celebration there appear some special customs in different parts of the country, such as burning incense, planting Mid-Autumn trees, lighting lanterns on towers and fire dragon dances. However, the custom of playing under the moon is not so popular as it used to be nowadays, but it is not less popular to enjoy the bright silver moon. Whenever the festival sets in, people will look up at the full silver moon, drinking wine to celebrate their happy life or thinking of their relatives and friends far from home, and extending all of their best wishes to them.

Mid-autumn Day is a Chinese festival. It usually es in September or October .On that day we usually eat a big dinner and mooncakes. It is said "Hou Yi" missed his wife，so he made mooncakes. It looks like the moon.

There are many kinds of mooncakes. They are small round cakes with meat,nuts or something sweet inside . eating mooncakes has been our custom. Families stay outside in the open air eat a big dinner and mooncakes. The most important thing is looking at the moon,On that day,the moon kooks brighter and rounder. We call this moon the full moon.

On that day,families get together,so we call this day getting together. This is Mid-autumn Day. I love it very much. Because on that day I can eat mooncakes. And my brother es back home. He works outside all year. Only that day and the Spring Festival. He es back. So that day I am especially happy. On that day my family gets together.

中秋节是一个中国节日，通常是九月或十月。当天我们经常吃一顿丰盛的晚餐和月饼。据说“后羿”想念他的妻子，所以他做了月饼。它看起来像月亮。
