I often play computer games because I like it so much. I often watch Japanese cartoon movies with my parents on the weekends. On long holidays we take trips, too.

One day in the summer vacation, my father and mother said that I would take me to go fishing tomorrow. I was very glad to hear it. On the second day, we started off with fishing things! There, I saw a lot of people waiting for the fish to come. Suddenly, a fishing rod of an old man moved, he immediately pulled the fishing rod, and a big fish was caught. Then the old man got up again. I also learned his way, put the bait on the hook, put the water into the water, and was ready to "meet" the fish. 星期四下午，我们班开展了介绍中华传统文化的口语交际活动。老师先宣布好活动规则，再让我们分小组介绍。你看，小杨那组带来图片，小赖这组带来了实物，小刘还边介绍边做动作呢……

接下来是各组中选出讲得好的同学到台上来给全班同学作介绍。第一个上台的是小周，她给我们介绍的是“泼水节的来历”：在很久很久以前，傣族居住的地方，有个恶魔做尽了坏事，百姓都很痛恨。恶魔还霸占了7个美丽的姑娘做它的妻子，7个姑娘决心为民除害。一天，在恶魔酒醉的时候，用话套出了杀死恶魔的秘诀，趁恶魔熟睡的时候，杀死了恶魔。不料，恶魔的头一落地，大地就燃烧起了熊熊大火，只要把恶魔的头举起来，大火才会熄灭。于是，7个姑娘不怕血污和疲劳，轮流举起恶魔的头，并相约在每年傣历新年这一天交换。所以，傣族人民要过泼水节以纪念这7个姑娘为民除害并表示对她们的感激和祝福。小周话音刚落，台下就响起了热烈的掌声。第二个上台的是小刘，小刘介绍的是“马踏飞燕”：又名“马超龙雀”“铜奔马”，为东汉青铜器。奔马形象矫健俊美，别具风姿，马昂首嘶鸣，躯干壮实而四肢修长，脚蹄轻捷、三足踏空、飞驰向前。一足踏飞燕着地，一匹躯干庞大的马踏在一只正疾驰的龙雀背上，小龙雀吃惊地回过头来观望，表示了骏马凌空飞翔、奔跑疾速的雄姿。

到台上来作介绍的同学一个接着一个，有的同学介绍“重阳节”的来历，有的介绍“八达岭的来历”……

活动结束了，老师评出了讲得最好的同学是小周，小周听了别提多高兴……

通过这个活动我觉得中华民族的文化真是博大精深，作为中华民族的一员我感到无比自豪，我一定要为中华民族的崛起而努力！

苏州是中国著名的历史文化名城之一，素来以山水秀丽，园林典雅而闻名天下，有江南园林甲天下，苏州园林甲江南的美称。

城内有小园林将近200处。其中沧海亭、狮子林、拙政园每一个园林都有一个故事。大家请跟我来去看看沧海亭吧!

沧海亭位于苏州市城南三元坊内，是苏州最古老的一所园林。占地面积约10800平方米。沧海亭始于吴越王钱缪之子钱元亮的池馆。宋代诗人苏舜钦以四万贯钱买下废园，进行修筑，傍水造亭，因感于沧海之水清兮，可以濯吾缨;浪浪之水浊兮，可以濯吾足，题名沧海亭，自号沧海翁，并作《沧海亭记》。欧阳修应邀作《沧海亭》长诗，诗中以清风明月本无价，可惜只卖四万钱题咏此事。自此，沧海亭名声大振。苏氏之后，沧海亭几乎荒废，南宋初年一度为抗金名将韩世忠的宅第，清康熙三十五年巡抚宋荦重建此园，把傍水亭子移建于山之巅，形成今天沧海亭的布局基础，并以文征明隶书沧海亭为匾额。清同治十二年再次重建，遂成今天之貎。沧海亭虽因历代更迭有兴废，已非宋时初貎，但其古木苍老郁森，还一直保持旧时的风采。

Hello ！welcome to the special Chinese new years edition of discovering China. Im Alina Li and Im Ben Hedges, and today well be taking you through some of the most important traditions of Chinese new year and historical background. We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.

The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.
