从前有一个人，性格极为吝啬，不光对别人吝啬，对自己也是如此。有一次，在外出的路上，遇上河水忽然上涨，吝啬人不肯出摆渡钱，他自己冒着生命危险涉水。

谁知他刚到河中的时候，水势突然凶猛起来，他被冲倒了，在水中漂流了大概半里路。

他的儿子在岸上，十分着急，却帮不上忙，只得寻找船只去救助。船夫出价，要一钱才肯前去救助，可是儿子只同意出价五分，为了争执渡船的价钱相持了好长时间，而且一直没有决断。

这时候，落水人在垂死的紧要关头还对着他的儿子大声呼喊：“我的儿子呀!如果出价五分就来救，一钱就不要来救!”

【大道理】：

不要把钱看得太重，让自己成了守财奴。

从前有两个重病人，同住在一家大医院的小病房里。房间很小，只有一扇窗子可以看见外面的世界。其中一个人，在他的治疗中，被允许在下午坐在床上一个小时（有仪器从他的肺中抽取液体）。他的床靠着窗，但另外一个人终日都得平躺在床上。

然而，在一个天气晴朗的午后，他心想：为什么睡在窗边的人可以独享看外头的权利呢？为什么我没有这样的机会？他觉得不是滋味，他越这么想，就越想换位子。他一定得换才行！有天夜里他盯着天花板瞧，另一个人忽然惊醒了，拼命地咳嗽，一直想用手按铃叫护士来。但这个人只是旁观而没有帮忙——尽管他感觉同伴的呼吸已经停止了。第二天早上，护士来的时候那人已经死了，只能静静地抬走他的尸体。

The pattern of the Thanksgiving celebration has never changed through the years. The big family dinner is planned months ahead. On the dinner table, people will find apples, oranges, chestnuts, walnuts and grapes. There will be plum pudding, mince pie, other varieties of food and cranberry juice and squash. 春秋时期，卫国有个名叫哀骀（tai）它（tuo）的人，他的容貌虽然很丑陋，可不管是男人还是女人都非常喜欢和他交往，相处亲近随和，舍不得离去。有一些女人甚至说：“与其做别人的妻子，还不如做他的小妾。”

他一无权位二无财产，也没有什么高深的理论和显赫的功绩，可是外表粗陋、其貌不扬的这位丑人却受到几乎所有人的喜爱和赞美，这使得鲁国的鲁哀公惊异不已，于是就派人把他从卫国请回鲁国加以考察。相处不到一个月，鲁哀公觉得他在平淡中确有不少过人之处，不到一年，就很信任他了。不久，宰相的位置空缺，鲁哀公便让他上任管理国事，可他却淡淡然无心做官，虽在再三要求下参议了国事，但不久他还是谢辞了高位厚禄，回到他在卫国的陋室中去了。

对此，鲁哀公求教于孔子：“他究竟是怎样一种人呢？”孔子借喻道：“我曾经在楚国看见一群小猪在刚死的母猪身上吃奶，一会儿都惊恐地逃开了，因为小猪发现母猪已不像活着时那样亲切。可见小猪爱母猪不是爱它的形体，而是爱主宰它形体的精神，爱它内在的品性。哀骀它这个人虽然外表不美，但他的品德和才情等内在之美必定已超越一般人很多，所以您和许多人才喜欢他。”

这个故事告诉我们，只有内在的美才可靠长久，值得追求和尊崇。虽然外在的容貌、身材、风采和权位、财产等也很吸引人，可内在的品德、学识、才能和真诚、自信等给人的感受则更有魅力。

里希纳的家靠近大海，村里祖祖辈辈都以打鱼为生。他从小跟随父亲出海，年纪不大就成了父亲的得力助手。可近来他却不务正业，迷上了打猎，简直无可救药，为这事他没少挨父亲的责备。

离村子不远有座小山，地势险要人迹罕至，听老人讲山上常有野猪出没。要是能打到一只野猪该有多好啊。山上的野猪令他魂牵梦萦，他下定决心要去碰碰运气。

那天天还没亮，里希纳瞒着父亲悄悄起床，带上枪、绳索等工具就上山了。他仔细搜寻着，可连野猪的影子也没看到。太阳已爬得老高，父亲还等着他出海，他无奈只好回家，带着一身的疲惫和沮丧。走到半山腰，隐约听到不远处传来微弱的叫声，像是野猪。他立刻兴奋起来，循着声音找去。

果然，一只小野猪陷在泥沼里，它已筋疲力尽，只剩头部露在外面，陷在那儿无法动弹，根本无法逃脱，眼神里充满了绝望。真是个冒失鬼，竟然掉到泥沼里，这是意外收获，里希纳喜出望外，迅速举起枪对准了野猪。

野猪当然不明白，那枝乌黑的枪对它意味着什么。它用尽最后一丝力气试图挣扎，眼睛直直地盯着面前的陌生人，发出兴奋的光芒，竟然把里希纳当成了救星。它在向我求救?里希纳端着枪犹豫了。

真是个小可怜!里希纳叹息着放下枪，转而想办法营救野猪。

要救野猪，首先得保证自身安全，如不小心掉进泥沼非常危险。惟一的办法，就是用绳子套住野猪的脖子，拉上来。他抛下绳子，好不容易套上了它的脖子，小心翼翼地往上拉。如果绳子勒得太紧，可能野猪还没救上来就先被勒死了。但它不懂配合，刚套上去又滑下来。经过反复努力，终于把野猪救了上来，不知不觉两个小时已经过去了。里希纳浑身沾满污泥，坐在地上大口喘气，开始思索如何应付父亲的责罚。

突然，远处传来轰隆巨响，天崩地裂一般。回头望去，十几米高的巨浪冲上海岸，铺天盖地而来，山下的村庄瞬间被吞噬。看着眼前发生的一切，里希纳惊恐万分，不停地颤抖着。

举世震惊的印度洋海啸中，他是全村惟一的幸存者。

这是真实的故事，里希纳住在印尼苏门答腊岛班达亚齐。他原本带着枪去打野猪，却为了救野猪耽搁了下山时间，幸运地逃过灭顶之灾。究竟是人救了动物，还是动物救了人，很难说清。里希纳得以大难不死实属巧合，可如果不救野猪，巧合会发生吗?

感悟人生：幸运源于爱心的馈赠。

刘杰大学毕业后，进了交通局，在西关岗街当队长。

西关街街长1500米，双向四车道，中间被铁栅栏分开。街的尽头是六个万人大厂，每天上下班的时候，三四万职工一齐挤到街的一侧，人山人海，浩浩荡荡。几年来，这条路每天都得堵上几个小时。交警队一直想扩路，可苦于没有资金，一直拖到现在，成了局里的头号难题。

刘杰上了十天班后，拿着一份西关街街况报告找到警队的王局长。

王局长接过报告，问：“想改善西关街的交通，你有什么想法?”

刘杰伸出三根手指，对着王局长一晃，说道：“给我三万，我保证在一个月之内把西关街变成双向六车道!”

王局长顿时来了兴趣，忙问他具体方案，可问了半天，刘杰就是不讲，只是一个劲地说：“请领导相信我。”

王局长没办法，大笔一挥，给刘杰批了三万，说：“这个月我要到省里开会，希望我回来的时候，路况能有所改善!”刘杰拿着批款，连连点头。

怎么可能?王局长开完会，立即坐车赶回天水市，一看究竟。

当他来到西关街的时候，正赶上工人们上班，西关街上的工人比以前还多，可似乎不那么挤了。

王局长定睛一看，原来那排三里长的铁栅栏底下都装上了铁轱辘，上班的时候就往这边推过来一个车道，原来是这样的“双向六车道”啊。

指挥交通的刘杰也看到了王局长，他一路小跑，过来“啪”地给王局长敬了个礼：“请局长检查工作!”

王局长拍了拍刘杰的肩膀，叹了口气，说：“十年了，这么简单的办法我怎么就没想到呢，总说要扩道，其实最应该扩的就是我们的思想啊!”

昨天，我们全体五年级举行了第五届讲故事比赛，我们的心里很开心。

我们起床了以后在小广场听主任说进场顺序，听完以后我们就去五楼报告厅走去听别人讲故事了，我们每个班出场两个人，我们班出场的是王浩然和曲姿谕，让我最喜欢的是王浩然的，我喜欢的理由是王浩然说话又大又大方，不像曲姿谕说话有点小，王浩然选的故事是抗战时期少年岳飞的故事，王浩然说了当年岳母把岳飞生下来的时候不知给岳飞起一个什么名字，忽然天上有一只大鹏鸟飞过，岳母就知道起什么名字，就叫岳飞吧！

有一次岳家起了一次洪水就把岳家冲没了，后来他们又找到了一个地方建了一个家，岳飞家中从小家就贫穷，常常吃不起饭，有一次加个朋友想带着岳飞拦路抢劫，可是岳飞不想，众兄弟再三劝说可是岳飞还坚决不去，岳飞想等到岳母回来的时候告诉岳母，岳母知道后给岳飞说这种事情咱可干不了，不知过了多久日寇开始进攻岳飞呆在那个地方，月奴给岳飞说咱们怎么办呀？岳飞只说：“上场杀敌，金忠报国。”岳母要给岳飞的背上刻上金忠报国这四个字，让岳飞永远记住，岳母说完，岳飞就脱下上衣请岳母下针，岳母说：“你不怕痛吗？”岳飞又说：“有点痛我还克制不了我还怎么上场杀敌”说完岳母就刻了起来。

从那时起，金忠报国这四个字永远的留在岳飞的背上了。

In 1882 a baby girl caught a fever that was so fierce she nearly died. She survived but the fever left its mark she could no longer see or hear. Because she could not hear she also found it very difficult to speak.

1882年，一名女婴因高发烧差点丧命。她虽幸免于难，但发烧给她留下了后遗症 她再也看不见、听不见。因为听不见，她想讲话也变得很困难。

So how did this child, blinded and deafened at 19 months old, grow up to become a world-famous author and public speaker?

The fever cut her off from the outside world, depriving her of sight and sound. It was as if she had been thrown into a dark prison cell from which there could be no release.

Luckily Helen was not someone who gave up easily. Soon she began to explore the world by using her other senses. She followed her mother wherever she went, hanging onto her skirts, She touched and smelled everything she came across. She copied their actions and was soon able to do certain jobs herself, like milking the cows or kneading dough, She even learnt to recognize people by feeling their faces or their clothes. She could also tell where she was in the garden by the smell of the different plants and the feel of the ground under her feet.

By the age of seven she had invented over 60 different signs by which she could talk to her family, If she wanted bread for example, she would pretend to cut a loaf and butter the slices. If she wanted ice cream she wrapped her arms around herself and pretended to shiver.

Helen was unusual in that she was extremely intelligent and also remarkably sensitive. By her own efforts she had managed to make some sense of an alien and confusing world. But even so she had limitations.

At the age of five Helen began to realize she was different from other people. She noticed that her family did not use signs like she did but talked with their mouths. She wanted to talk but no matter how she tried she could not make herself understood. As she got older her frustration grew and her rages became worse and worse. She became wild and unruly . If she didnt get what she wanted she would throw tantrums until her family gave in. Her favourite tricks included grabbing other peoples food from their plates and hurling fragile objects to the floor. Once she even managed to lock her mother into the pantry. Eventually it became clear that something had to be done. So, just before her seventh birthday, the family hired a private tutor Anne Sullivan.

This method is called Tadoma and it is a skill that very, very few people manage to acquire. She also learnt to speak, a major achievement for someone who could not hear at all.

Helen proved to be a remarkable scholar, graduating with honours from Radcliffe College in 1904. She had phenomenal powers of concentration and memory, as well as a dogged determination to succeed. While she was still at college she wrote ‘The Story of My Life. This was an immediate success and earned her enough money to buy her own house.

At last one egg after another began to crack." Cheep, cheep!" the ducklings said." Quack, quack!" said the duck.

" How big the world is!" said all the young ones.

The shell will not crack, but the others are the finest ducklings. They are like their father."

"let me look at the egg which wont crack," said the old duck." You may be sitting on a turkeys egg!

I have been cheated like that once. Yes. its a turkeys egg!

You had better leave it alone and teach the other children to swim."

"I will sit on it a little longer."

The first day passed, and everything was fine.

He was so tired and miserable that he stayed there the whole night.

In the morning the wild ducks flew up to see their new friend." You are very ugly," said the wild ducks," but that does not matter to us."

He stayed there two whole days . And then two wild geese came.

Just at that moment the sound of "Bang! Bang!" was heard, and both the wild geese fell dead among the reeds.

It was a terrible shock to the poor duckling.

一只巨大的狗出现在他的身边，离他很近。这只狗露出锐利的牙齿，继续往前走，没有碰他。

这只小鸭叹息说：“哦，谢谢老天爷！我是这么丑，因此连狗都不会咬我！”

晚上他来到一间小屋。这间小屋住着一位老婆婆和她的猫及母鸡。她的视力不好，以为这只小鸭是一只肥鸭。

她说：“要是我有了鸭蛋，我就发财了，”因此她留这只小鸭住了3个星期，但他并没有下蛋。

这只猫是这间房子的主人，而这只母鸡是女主人。

A big dog appeared close beside him. He showed his sharp teeth and went on without touching him.

"Oh, thank Heaven! I am so ugly that even the dog wont bite me!"

sighed the duckling.

In the evening he reached a little cottage where an old woman lived with her cat and her hen.

Her eyesight was not good, and she thought the duckling was a fat duck.

"I will be rich if I have duck eggs," she said.

So she took in the duckling for three weeks, but he laid no eggs.The cat was the master of the house

and the hen was the mistress.

母鸡说：“你能不能下蛋呢？”

小鸭回答说：“不能。”

这只猫说：“那么你最好离开到外面广阔的世界去。”就这样这只小鸭离开了。

有一天晚上，太阳刚刚下山，此时有一群漂亮的大鸟从矮树丛飞出来。

"Can you lay eggs?" asked the hen.

"No," answered the duckling.

"Then you had better go out into the wide world," said the cat. So away went the duckling.

One evening the sun was just setting when a flock of beautiful large birds appeared out of the bushes.

The duckling thought," Ive never seen anything so beautiful."

就在他的面前，他看到三只美丽的白天鹅向他游过来。

They were dazzlingly white with long necks. They were swans.

He did not know what the birds were.

The winter was so bitterly cold that the duckling swam about in the water to keep himself from freezing.

The sun began to shine warmly again. The larks were singing and beautiful spring had come.

Then, all at once, the duckling raised his wings and they flapped with much greater strength than before.

Before he knew it, he found himself in a large garden where the apple trees were in

full blossom and long branches of lilacs overhung the shores of the lake.

Just in front of him he saw three beautiful white swans swimming towards him.

“我将朝他们飞去而他们将会把我劈成粉碎，因为我长得非常丑。

不过没有关系，我宁愿被他们杀死也不愿被那些鸭子咬或是被那些母鸡啄。”

因此他飞入水中朝这些天鹅游过去，他们看到他就向他冲过来。

“杀死我吧，噢，杀死我吧！”可怜的小鸭说着朝水中低头，等待死亡的来临。

但他在清澈的水中看到什么样了呢？

"I will fly to them and they will hack me to pieces because I am so ugly.

But it doesnt matter. I would rather be killed by them than be bitten by the ducks or pecked by the hens."

So he flew into the water and swam towards the swans. They saw him and darted towards him.

"Kill me! Oh, kill me!" said the poor duckling,

and he waited for his death bowing his head towards the water.

But what did he see in the clear water? He was no longer a dark gray ugly bird.

他不再是只黑灰丑陋的鸟，他竟然是一只天鹅！

有些小孩手拿玉米和面包来到这个花园，将这些东西投入水中。

个子最小的那个孩子兴高采烈地大叫：“有一只新来的天鹅。”其他的孩子大叫：

" I never dreamed that I could be so happy when I was the ugly duckling!"

Near Chinas northern borders lived a man well versed in the practices of Taoism. His horse, for no reason at all, got into the territory of the northern tribes. Everyone commiserated with him.

"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a blessing," said his father.

After a few months, his animal came back, leading a fine horse from the north. Everyone congratulated him.

"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a cause of misfortune," said his father.

Since he was well-off and kept good horses his son became fond of riding and eventually broke his thigh bone falling from a horse. Everyone commiserated with him.

"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a blessing," said his father.

One year later, the northern tribes started a big invasion of the border regions. All able-bodied young men took up arms and fought against the invaders, and as a result, around the border nine out of ten men died. This mans son did not join in the fighting because he was crippled and so both the boy and his father survived.

从前，有个叫秦半贯的秀才，读书不求甚解，识字只认半边，写文章狗屁不通，读了几年补习，乡试屡考不中。他一贯不务正业，靠吹牛皮拍马，也算在乡里混得不错。而每见同乡学子应试归来，高官厚禄，封妻荫子，衣锦还乡，却不免有时乖运蹇，怀才不遇之感。碰巧这年县府里发榜招聘官员，新任县官求才若渴，亲自坐堂招贤。

轮到秦半贯上场，县官叫侍从带上。秦半贯上得堂前，磕头三下道：“不才半贯叩见父母恩官!小人愿爬到大人脚下，舔高足踩过的芳泥!”县官见其奴性十足，心头十分不悦，但还是想考考他的真才实学：“本官出题考你，好歹定夺。题目是《读书之人何以修身》。”秦半贯四书五经读不通，修身不晓得在哪本经，他抓耳挠腮，急得心直跳，汗直流，结结巴巴地说：“大人，修者长也，身者身体也。要身体修长就要当官，要当官就要有诀窍，上要有背景，中间有靠山，下有垫脚之人……”县官听罢，勃然大怒：“大马屁精，胡言乱语，到底做不做得出!”秦半贯慌忙答道：“大人，此题实在太难，一时做不出来，求再出一道，若写不出，情愿领罪!”县官忍俊道：“好吧，本官饶你一次，再出一个……”说话间，忽放一屁，半贯闻之大喜，马上以《放屁》为题，即兴高声朗诵：“伏惟大宗师高耸金臀，洪宣宝屁，远听依稀乎丝竹之音，余音绕梁，三日不绝;近听轰轰然金钟齐鸣，山鸣谷应，振聋发聩。仿佛春花之瑞气，兰麝之飘香，小人立于下风，不觉陶然而醉……”县官听罢，哈哈大笑。

秦半贯以为县官看中他的文章，正高兴间，忽听得县官正色道：“好个半贯秀才!正经文章不会做，放屁的文章偏做得好!本县封你一个看粪官!”说罢忙唤左右，将秦半贯押在衙门东街万人粪坑边，让他每天领略些“春花兰麝之香气”。

星期五下午，我们进行了第五届“英华少年杯”讲故事比赛。

我们满怀信心的期待着！讲故事比赛终于开始了！我们班的曲姿谕和王浩然代表我们班去参加比赛，曲姿谕是第25个，王浩然是第11个，曲姿谕讲的是《注视的眼睛》，王浩然讲的是《岳飞刺字——精忠报国》。我们五年级一共有28个人讲故事。终于到王浩然了！王浩然一上台，气势高大，开始讲了！王浩然最后的得分是9。64分。

给我留下印象最深的是五（7）班杨云涵讲的《三袋米的故事》。这个故事呢，主要讲的是：“我”的妈妈让我考上重点大学，然而那个学校每个月初都要给学校送一袋米，“我”们家里很穷，没有钱去买米，“我”的妈妈更没有力气去耕田。妈妈每次去给米库的熊师傅送米，第一次妈妈带的米被熊师傅留了下来，第二次妈妈带的迷也被留了下来，到了第三次，熊师傅告诉妈妈：“你这次怎么还是杂碎米？”妈妈哭着说道：“因为我们家穷，每天我都是早晨早早得起来去村的外讨米，到天黑很晚我才回家。熊师傅也被感动了。

我也被这个故事深深地所感动。杨云涵是讲故事的第一名。

"We think it would rather to be alive!" the ministers answered. "Then, you could leave now. I prefer living freely." Zhuangzi said.

楚国使丞回答说：“我们认为他愿意活着！”庄子听了这话，对二人说：“好了，两位走吧。我也愿意拖着尾巴在这烂泥中自由自在地活着。”

今天下午的时候，我们举行了学校的第五届的讲故事比赛，我们都很兴奋！

中午一起床，穿好衣服，到教室里带好红领巾，然后，我们排好队向五楼报告厅进发了，在路上，我们非常的高兴！

讲故事的选手有二十八个人，每个班里都有两个同学参加比赛，我们班参加比赛的是：活泼开朗的小女生曲姿谕，还有我们班的学习委员王浩然。他们讲的都很棒，都获得了“故事大王”的称号。

王浩然讲的是“少年岳飞”，王浩然讲的钢筋有力，而且说话非常的大声，就适合男孩子读的。王浩然讲的是少年岳飞小的时候所发生的事情，有一次，家里吃了上顿就吃不到下顿了，后来，他的几个好兄弟因为没有饭吃，想拦路抢劫，他们想叫岳飞跟他们一起去拦路抢劫，可是不管他们蒸馍说，岳飞也没有动心，而且还尝试着劝告他们，拦路抢劫是不对的，后来，他的母亲回来了，岳飞把这件事一五一十的告诉了母亲，母亲还夸他了呢！

曲姿谕同学讲的故事我就不说了，讲故事将比赛就结束了。

中国现代着名学者胡适是属兔子的，他的夫人江冬秀是属老虎的，胡适常开玩笑说：“兔子怕老虎。”当时就流传了胡适怕老婆的笑话。

有一次，巴黎的朋友寄给胡适十几个法国的古铜币，因钱有“PTT”三个宇母，读起来谐音正巧为怕太太。胡适与几个怕太太的朋友开玩笑说：“如果成立一个怕太太协会，这些铜币正好用来做会员的证章。”

胡适经常到大学里去讲演。有一次，在某大学，讲演中他常引用

孔子、孟子、孙中山先生的话。引用时，他就在黑板上写：

“孔说”，“孟说”，“孙说”。

最后，他发现自己的意见时，竟引起了哄堂大笑，原来他写的是：
