春节是中国人最重要的节日，而且不同地域的春节有不同的风俗。北方有大秧歌、送渔灯；南方有赛龙舟、包汤圆。今年，我去了江苏过年，体验到了南方的春节习俗。

我们开车来到江苏时已经天黑了，站在街上极目远眺，你会发现每一处都张灯结彩、五光十色。路灯上装饰着一串串坠着中国结的大红灯笼；街道中心有一座龙虾雕塑，它满脸带笑地将两只大钳靠在一起，给每一位来到江苏的人拜年。

那天早上，妈妈一大早就起来做汤圆，我和姐姐也跟着起来了。妈妈把糯米粉放进盆里，让姐姐把温开水倒进粉里，就开始和糯米团了。妈妈还告诉我，要是太干了，就再加进一些温开水。过了十多分钟后，妈妈把糯米粉揉成了一团，我想拿一点糯米团来搓汤圆。姐姐说：“妹妹，你太小，不要搓汤圆了，去睡觉吧!”我说：“我会认真搓的。”于是，妈妈拿一小块糯米团给我搓，我搓的汤圆有大有小，姐姐看了不兴奋说：“叫你别搓你就不听，看你把汤圆搓成这样子!”妈妈说：“没关系，这是祖孙父子圆，这样才像一家子嘛，圆圆满满的。”听了妈妈说的话后，我自得地向姐姐扮了个鬼脸。

要做汤圆了，我十分兴奋，忙在旁帮忙做汤圆。奶奶先将面粉放进大箩筐里，把已经准备好的热粥倒进面粉堆里，然后用面粉将热粥抱起来，不停地用手揉捏，把面粉聚起来。没过多久，刚才还是粉末的面粉，现在已成了个大面团。奶奶又将面团捏成一个个小面团，让我用手把它们揉成圆形。奶奶先将小面团用手弄出一个小洞，其余手指则不停地令小面团转动，两只的拇指又逐渐吧洞扩大，变成一个小碗，在里面加入事先准备好的豆沙，然后揉捏成一个小团，一个甜汤圆就做好了。奶奶又做了些咸汤圆，一共几十来只。

My happy Spring Festival After the New Year’s Eve dinner with my family, we began to sit down in front of the TV, and enjoyed 2008 CCTV Spring Festival gala. At about ten o’clock, the black sky was lightened by lots of fireworks with colorful light and happy sound. We stop watching the CCTV 2008 CCTV Spring Festival gala, and began to climb up the balcony to see the beautiful fireworks view, and my father took some fireworks up, and we also began to play fireworks. What a beautiful night. Later, my cell phone was ringing all the time. I received lots of short messages from my friends and classmates. They all blessed me happy New Year. I gave same bless to them by sending back the happy words. At almost 12 pm, I made a wish in New Year, and began to sleep. When I woke up in the first day of New Year, my father and mother gave two red packets to me, and blessed me that everything will go well on me. I thanked them, and accepted the red packets happily. I have been waiting for the day that I can get lots of red

packets. This is my happiest time of the year. After lunch, both my family went to the park, the streets, and the shops or supermarkets. We took many photos in the park, and bought many things in the shops or supermarket. I met my uncles and aunts, they all blessed us happy New Year and gave me red packets. I was too happy to count how many red packets I got. The following days, we visited my grandparents and some of relatives. We happily talk with them, and brought some presents to them, and also received some New Year presents. This was how did I spend my Spring Festival; I really enjoyed myself in Spring Festival.

The 9th day of the 9th lunar month is the traditional Chongyang Festival, or Double Ninth Festival. It usually falls in October in the Gregorian calendar. In an ancient and mysterious book Yi Jing, or The Book of Changes, number 6 was thought to be of Yin character, meaning feminine or negative, while number 9 was thought to be Yang, meaning masculine or positive. So the number nine in both month and day create the Double Ninth Festival, or Chongyang Festival. Chong in Chinese means double. Also, as double ninth was pronounced the same as the word to signify forever, both are Jiu Jiu, the Chinese ancestors considered it an auspicious day worth celebration. That‘s why ancient Chinese began to celebrate this festival long time ago.

The custom of ascending a height to avoid epidemics was passed down from long time ago. Therefore, the Double Ninth Festival is also called Height Ascending Festival. The height people will reach is usually a mountain or a tower. Ancient literary figures have left many poems depicting the activity. Even today, people still swarm to famous or little known mountains on this day.

On this day, people will eat Double Ninth Gao (or Cake). In Chinese, gao (cake) has the same pronunciation with gao (height). People do so just to hope progress in everything they are engaged in. There is no fixed ways for the Double Ninth Cake, but super cakes will have as many as nine layers, looking like a tower.

The Double Ninth Festival is also a time when chrysanthemum blooms. China boasts diversified species of chrysanthemum and people have loved them since ancient times. So enjoying the flourishing chrysanthemum also becomes a key activity on this festival. Also, people will drink chrysanthemum wine. Women used to stick such a flower into their hair or hang its branches on windows or doors to avoid evilness.

In 1989, the Chinese government decided the Double Ninth Festival as Seniors‘ Day. Since then, all government units, organizations and streets communities will organize an autumn trip each year for those who have retired from their posts. At the waterside or on the mountains, the seniors will find themselves merged into nature. Younger generations will bring elder ones to suburban areas or send gifts to them on this day.

There are a lot of holidays for chinese people, such as National day, May Day, etc. However, Chinese people look on spring festival as their most important one of all.And its also my favorite festival, especially when I was a child, because In those days, I could have a plenty of delicious food to eat, enjoy a very long holiday and wear beautiful clothes. And what is more important is that I could received much new years gift money. So, everyyear, I expected the spring festival would come soon. After I GREw up, its no longer as important to me as before . For I can have my delicious food and wear my favorite clothes every day. Its like Im having spring festival every day!

一年有很多节日,如国庆节，劳动节等等，但中国人看的最重的还是春节。我也很喜欢做春节。尤其是小时候，因为一到春节不但可以吃到好多好吃的，而且还能放很长的假，穿漂亮的衣服，最主要的是可以收到好多压岁钱，小时候总盼望着春节的到来。长大了，春节好像没那么重要了。因为现在天天都能吃到好吃的，穿自己喜欢的衣服，就像天天都在过年!

In North, when winter comes, the weather is very cold, the cloud covers the sunshine all the time, it is hard for people to see the sunshine. So the sunshine becomes very rare in the winter, when it comes, I will feel very comfortable, my mood turns good even I am not happy. I love sunshine, it just like the hope for me.
