除了童年的美好往事，鲁迅还写到了家庭的没落、世态的炎凉、南京求学的过程，进化论的萌芽以及学医的过程。直到后来，当他从电影中看到中国人被日寇砍头示众，周围却挤满了看到同胞被害而麻木不仁的人群的情景后，内心受到极大的震动，他觉得“凡是愚弱的国民，即使体格如何健全，如何茁壮，也只能做毫无意义的示众材料和看客，病死多少也不必以为不幸的”。鲁迅先生彻底醒悟了，他毅然弃医从文，立志用手中的笔来唤醒沉睡的中国民众的灵魂，改造国民的精神，拯救孱弱的民族。于是，鲁迅先生选择文学艺术作为自己的武器，以笔为枪，以墨为弹，坚定而果敢地迈出了人生道路上具有决定意义的重要一步。鲁迅先生笔耕不辍，先后创作了《呐喊》、《彷徨》、《野草》等大量经典的文学作品，带领中国新文化运动在打破黑暗统治的斗争中披荆斩棘、勇往直前。从此，中国文坛便开满了浓郁芳香的血色蔷薇。
