Social Networking’s Influence on College Students

Social networking has gained huge worldwide popularity in recent years, especially among college students. In China, college student is the main force of social networking, 97.7% of which are fond of instant messaging and 80.7% prefer social networking sites like micro-blog and Q-zone (China Internet Network Information Center, 2013). Moreover, Michigan State University Original Study also finds that compared with Chinese students, American students are more tied to social media (2013). Therefore, nowadays there is a heated debate about advantages and disadvantages about social networking’s influence on college students.

Obviously, there are a number of positive features on social networking. It provides a convenient access to consolidate the relationship with people they know, make friends with strangers without restrictions of space and share happiness and sorrow. What’s more, social networking also has educational functions including reducing college drop-out rates, motivating students to work as a team, sending information about assignments, reminding students about deadline and stimulating students to help each other. (BBC News, 2009). There is no doubt that social networking plays a significant role in eiching students’ college lives.

However, every coin has two sides. There are also many disadvantages on the influence of social networking, among which, “soft addiction” is the most serious problem, distracting students from study. Because of lack of self-restriction, many students would waste plenty of time to search the social networking sites unconsciously, followed by a strong tendency to blame themselves (Li, 2013). This kind of “soft addiction” and distraction was also confirmed by Zhang (2011) who conducted a survey by questionare of 500 Chinese college students from different schools and found that 33% students could not bear one-week life without social networking and 77% students could not help themselves accessing social networking site during classes. Furthermore, a social experiment was performed by Harrisburg University (Pilkington, 2010) to figure out the effect after initiating blackout of all social networking sites. It turned out that some students became more concentrated on

the tutor and making notes instead of having instant messaging running in classes.

As far as I’m concerned, the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages, especially in China, where social networking is used for communication and entertainment and seldom plays the educational role (Li, 2011). The priority of a college student is to study hard instead of being addicted to social networking. Therefore, it is imperative for them to realize their “soft addiction” to social networking and correct their behavior.

The problem of food safety has attracted much attention recently. Everyone is astonished at the news that thousands of babies suffered from serious health problems because they had been fed with some poisonous milk products. The issue of food safety is so important that we cannot afford to ignore it. For one thing, food safety concerns the well-being of all the people in the country. For another, failure to ensure the safety of food causes damage to the image of our government, especially when such food is exported to other countries. Furthermore, unsafe food can undermine consumers confidence in the food industry, which may cause disastrous effect to our economy. Therefore, our government should take all measures to make sure that all the food in our country is safe to eat. The government must strictly carry out food safety standards, and impose severe punishment on those who violate them.

People can buy things without going out. In the second place, goods online are usually sold at prices lower than in conventional stores, so we are more likely to buy bargains on the Internet. Last but not least, online shopping offers us a lot more choices of goods since we can browse online stores without the limit of time and location.

主持人甲：3月7日，顺德容桂一所小学的学生在课间嬉戏时模仿网络游戏中的场景进行打斗。同班好友小彭和小龚各自饰演一款当下流行的网络游戏中的敌对角色，“战斗”进行中，小龚不慎用弹簧刀刺死了小彭。

同学自由发表看法：为什么会出现这样的惨剧，你从中想到什么?你会怎样要求自己?

主持人乙：这起惨剧的发生，当然不是偶然的。它的背后，是数量庞大的青少年网络游戏大军。根据最新统计的结果，目前中国约有2000万网游少年中，其中的260万人是网游成瘾者。此前，上海市青少年网络成瘾调查结果显示，该市青少年网络成瘾总发生率为14.2%。“网络成瘾”已成为导致这批青少年家庭矛盾加剧和参与违法犯罪的诱因。

网络成瘾症：可造成人体植物神经紊乱，体内激素水平失衡，免疫功能降低，引发心血管疾病、胃肠神经官能病、紧张性头疼、焦虑、忧郁等，甚至可导致死亡。

叮铃铃……，上课铃声划过宁静的校园，上课了，老师那双大眼睛扫了扫教室，指着可可的座位对同学们说，他由于多次无故旷课，破坏学校财产，伤害同学，不听教育，已经被学校退学了。

而在家中的爸爸妈妈却唉声叹气，急得团团转，“你这孩子呀！怎么能退学呢，希望都寄托在你一个人身上啊！”爸爸瞪着像铃铛一样的大眼睛，妈妈则捂着胸口，叹气不止，可可挑着眉毛，用手指了指脑袋，丢下了一句，“你们的儿子是个天才一个”，又躲到房间继续上网了。爸妈心里就像刀割一样的疼，可可心里却美滋滋的，为不用上学而偷笑了起来，他把这个消息告诉了他的网友“蝶儿飞扬”，他们还约好了第二天见面。

第二天是个阳光灿烂的日子，微微的凉风中透着桂花的香气，可这个美好的清晨却阻挡不了噩梦的来临。怕爸妈反对，可可偷偷地拿了些家里的钱，和网友见面去了。走在大街上，可可迈着轻快的步伐，来到了与网友见面的地方——梦之酒吧，可可好奇地走进去，突然从角落里闯出一群男子，把可可硬是拖走了，让人毛骨悚然的呼叫声从酒吧里传出来，越传越远……….

晚上，本地电视新闻头条播出了一个消息：“上午，在市区的梦之酒吧发生了一件抢劫杀人案，受害者是一个13岁的少年，瞒着父母从家里偷钱出来见网友，被网友及其同伙的一帮社会不良青年杀害。目前，公安机关已经将罪犯抓捕。”在电视机旁，可可的爸爸妈妈已经哭得几乎昏了过去……

多么可惜啊，一个花朵般的生命，就这样被网络的陷阱吞噬了！同学们，看完这个故事，希望大家吸取教训，千万不要像可可一样沉迷于网络，这样会害家人害自己，我们是祖国的未来，让我们一起来抵制网络陷阱，文明上网吧！

当今是网络的时代，网络给人们带来便利是也给人们带来了危害，网络已经成为人们生活的重要主成部分，成为人们生活，娱乐，交友，学习等主要的渠道。

网路危害的形式也比较多，网路危害的对象主要是未成年人，他们的控制力较差，加上家长和学校管教不严，导致许惨案接连发生。

网络危害的主要方式有：不良信息、暴力游戏的渲染等等。

计算机与网络已经成为了我们工作，学习及生活上必不可少的工具。但是，越来越多的中学生上网成瘾。我们时常可以看到关于中学生上网成瘾而夜不归宿、因犯网瘾而导致犯罪、甚至自残自杀等这类触目惊心的新闻。网瘾严重危害了学生身心的健康发展以及家庭的幸福，当我们在努力去帮助学生预防网瘾的同时，我们是否应该提醒学生在上网的时候要注意言行,注意防止受骗等安全问题呢?“拒绝网瘾,安全上网”，是我们今天要讨论的主题!

本节课在教学过程中采用了一个WEB教学平台，并将地点定于学生机房,目的是想论证一个想法,当社会不断地发展，学生课堂学习的时候,可能会达到人手一机的学习条件，那么到时我们可以怎么样去开展教学工作呢?我们是否可以将传统的纸质测试，讨论以及作业上交都利用电脑来完成，并且将都师教案共享在网络上,让学生在课前课后都能够学习呢?

School is our home，we are all live and study here. In order to make

ourselves safe，as a student，we should obey the school rules，we should go to

school on time and be never late . We must obey the traffic rulers, mustn’t go

swimming alone.we shouldn’ t chase(追) each other in the hallway and in the

school yard;we should get on well with others and should not fight with

others;we should not eat the food that goes bad and some junk food;we do not

drink;we mustn’t be allowed to smoke, must keep away from

By teaching your children fire safety you can make sure they know what to do when a house fire occurs. Making sure that your children know exactly what is required of them cuts down on the chaos of the emergency situation and helps keep your family safe and secure.

All children should know about important fire safety procedures such as the need to stay low to the ground in a smoky room and the need to stop, drop, and roll if their clothes should catch fire. Staying low to the ground keeps you from inhaling smoke, as smoke always rises towards the ceiling. Smoke inhalation can lead to unconsciousness, and is a big component of deaths caused by house fires.

Tell your family members that they can put a damp rag or a piece of clothing over their faces and breathe in through it in order to cut down on the effects of smoke inhalation even more. However, you generally shouldnt waste time finding a damp rag in an emergency; its also dangerous to use a faucet to wet a damp rag depending on the severity of the fire, as if the water pipes in your home are exposed to high temperatures the water traveling through them may be converted to steam which will blast out of the faucet and cause burns.

Make sure your children know how to correctly stop, drop, and roll and feel confident in the fact that it works. It smothers the fire and deprives it of oxygen, which puts out the flames.

The usual response to clothing catching on fire is to run around and flail about wildly, which only exposes the fire to more oxygen and feeds the flames. Your children should also know to touch door handles before opening the door to see if they are hot. If they are, it means that theres a fire in the next room, and they should leave the door closed and find another route out of the house.

Make sure your children understand that they should never play with lighters or matches. Fires started by playing with these things are the leading cause of fire-related injuries in children under five years old.

Many children are fascinated by lighters and matches and want to experiment with lighting things on fire to see what happens. Hide lighters and matches in your home and keep them out of the reach of your children in order to cut down on the temptation. Make sure all flammable liquids such as gasoline and lighter fluid are securely stored out of the reach of your kids.

Do regular fire drills to practice your evacuation plan so that your family knows what to do in an emergency. Make sure everyone knows all the possible exit points of the house that they can use; a fire in your home will be a chaotic situation, and its best to make sure all members of your family know your evacuation plan well enough so that it is second nature and they dont have to waste time thinking if a fire starts. Quick, determined response to a fire will save your family members lives.
