Leo Tolstoy once said, everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.

He is right. We always have great plans and dreams in our minds… too ready to achieve something grand thatChanges the world or benefits all of mankind .For example; we hate pollution and have made up our minds to find new energy sources that keep the environment clean. Yet we still litter on the ground. We complain about traffic jams, so we plan to build more highways to solve the problem, but it never occurs to us that our failure to follow traffic regulations is the leading cause of this situation. We are so concerned that the violence in the media has a bad impact on our children, we urge the government to set laws to protect them. But, do we, as adults, set a good example for our kids? We use nasty words and even spit on the ground in front of them, I dare to say, we harm more!

Man and His Environment

Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life. With the tools of technology he has altered many physical features of the earth. He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farms and made lakes and reserviors out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power. Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.

However, mans changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollution of water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.

Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to mans existence. Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.

There used to be a lot of tigers. They used to live in the woods and mountains. However, people are cutting down trees and destroying their homes. There are fewer and fewer tigers out there. It is very important to protect the tigers. So, we should protect their homes.

Last night ,I dreamed I became a very beautiful brid. I dreamed that I was in a forest. In tht forest,there were a lot of animals. Then,an old bird told us,"we have a very beautiful forest,we should therefore protect it from pollution. "All the animals agreed with him.

But the second day,people came into our forest. Many animals were caught. The people wanted to build house and parks in our forest. Many old trees were felled. And then suddenly,nothing was left standing.

I was so shocked and then I bursted out crying. I woke up at midnight. It was only a dream.

In the last several decades, our earth has been extremely polluted, such as

air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and so on. In recent years, the

extreme weather becomes more and more frequent. Winter gets colder and summer

Water is the source of life. Human can not do without water, animals, plants cannot survive without water. The lesson startedn today. After the long and becaemeour boring opening ceremony, we saw our chinese teacher. She let us each ask her a queation, but it has to be specific and not too private, during the process, she said she is 30 years old and has a 5-month old daughter. Many animals are in danger of dying out。 As is shown in the chart， we can see the number of animal species decreases faster and faster and this trend will continue。 From 1980 to 2010， at least 1 million animal species have disappeared。 Worse still， more and more wild animals are in great danger。 It is not a piece of sensational news; it is a fact， a harsh reality。 Unfortunately， we may not see these animals in the near future。

From the second picture， we can find some reasons。 Why is the number of animal species declining year by year？ Apparently animals have become victims of fashion industry。 Animal skin has been used to make fashionable clothes and these clothes sell at a high price。 So some greedy people begin to kill animals in a large quantity。 This irresponsible behavior not only breaks the balance of nature but also endangers the living environment of human beings。

It seems we are living in the conflict between modern and traditional cultures every day.Hearing the blaring of horns the moment you step out of your house,seeing the so called "pop" the moment you open your eyes,you cant help thinking,"Will the traditional culture be gradually lost?"

Last week, I visited the geological museum with my best friend, Liu Bing.

It was my first time to go there. The moment we arrived there, we found that the

building was grand. When we walked into it, there was a big hall in front of us.

And then there were several rooms to show different kinds objects. There was a

room for collecting scripts and paintings. There was another room to store

clothes and shoes in the old times. The next room was for collecting the daily

necessities in the old days. In a word, all the things in it had a long history.

I learnt some knowledge from it.

To protect the environment from every bit of small start, and I have not done well. Have a New Year, we went to shun feng mountain park, riding a bicycle, we were hungry, we bought a small bag of snacks to eat, while I, eat snacks, I happy too much because it is over, so casually took me to once eat 7 packet snacks packaging thrown on the ground, and then I went in a convenience store in watching TV, while todays TV is very good-looking, half an hour later, I put the mother with all I said before, all my thoughts are indulged in the drama. 保护环境是从一点一滴的小事做起，而我却没有做好。有一次过新年，我们去顺峰山公园游玩，骑完自行车，我们个个都饿了，我们买了一小包零食来吃，而我，吃完零食，我因为高兴过头了，所以随手就把我吃过的7包零食的包装扔在地上，然后我进去便利店里面看电视，尽管今天的电视剧很好看，过了半个小时，我把以前妈妈跟我说的话忘得一干二净，我所有的心思都沉迷在这个电视剧里面。在过了三十分钟，我才想起来，可是，这时候，妈妈生气的走过来说：“你这个臭丫头，难道我以前跟你说的要保护环境，你都忘了吗?”我说：“我不是忘了，我只是顾着看电视。”妈妈说：“看电视重要一些，还是捡垃圾重要一些?”我说：“捡垃圾。”妈妈说：“那你快点捡呀。”

然后，我捡起一小堆垃圾，扔进垃圾桶，我不但向妈妈认错了，我也向顺峰山公园的每一个扫地阿姨认了错。因为，如果每个人都扔一块垃圾在地面，那么就会给清洁阿姨增加负担。如果你看见一块垃圾在地面，那你就弯弯腰，动动手，做一个保护环境的人，那么就会给清洁阿姨减少负担……

虽然这件事已经过去一年了，但是，这件事让我学会了，如果世界上都扔一块垃圾在地面，那么整个地球就会变成一片废区，所以我们每个人都要保护环境，保护地球，世界才会更美好!

Improve our environment

Good environment can make people feel happy. To improve the environment means to qualify our life . What should we do to improve our environment ?

We should plant more trees . And we should prevent those factories from pouring waste water into rivers , lakes and fields . Whenever we see litter on the ground , we should pick it up and throw it into a dustbin . Don’t spit in public places . Don’t draw on public walls . It’s our duty to keep our earth clean and tidy .

良好的环境能使人觉得愉快。改善环境，使我们的生活。我们应该做什么来改善我们的环境?

我们应该种更多的树。我们应该阻止那些工厂废水流入河流，湖泊和田野。每当我们看到地上的垃圾，我们应该把它捡起来扔到垃圾桶。不要在公共场所吐痰。不要在公共墙上画。这是我们的职责，保持地球的干净和整洁的。

There used to be many kinds of birds which are pests for protected crops. They are good friends at present.But the number of the birds has been greatly reduced because too much poison is used. As the result, the numberof the pests has increased.The peasants spent a lot of money and time in killing them every year.But it is still hard to eliminate them.Now you can see how poor it is for us to protect wild animals and to keep the balance of nature.Only that everyone know these can we live on a beautiful lives.

曾经有许多鸟类都能够保护庄家，以防害虫的侵害。他们是农民的好朋友。但是鸟类的数量正在急剧减少，这是因为人们大量使用农药造成的。所以，害虫的数量增加了。每年，农民都会花费大量经费，以及时间来消除害虫。但是，人们还是很难将它们清除。如今，我们无法保护野生动物，并无法保持生态平衡。只有我们所有人提高意识我们才能过上幸福的生活。

Chinahas a very long and brilliant history, whose people are so friendly and hospitable. But I am wondering why some people pay such little attention to the environment and nature. In many places of the countryside, rivers have become stinking sewers and brooks have disappeared. Heaps of garbage obstructs the scarce flow of dirty water. The grounds are littered with plastic bottles and bags. People are cutting down trees even though it is illegal. In some towns, rubbish is hidden behind walls. Garbage cans are often of little use, making cleaners must rush all day long and also by night to clean the rubbish.

中国有着悠久辉煌的历史，人民十分友善好客。但是我很好奇为什么有些人对自然和环境那么不在乎。在乡下的很多地方，河流已经变成臭哄哄的下水道，小溪也消失了。成堆的垃圾阻碍了污水难得的流动，地面上到处是丢弃的塑料瓶和塑料袋。尽管乱砍滥伐是违法的人们还是砍倒树木。在一些乡镇，垃圾就隐藏在墙后面。垃圾箱基本上没起到作用，使得清洁工人必须整天日日夜夜来回清理垃圾。

This lack of consideration for nature in general is extremely detrimental to children’s education, toChina’s image, to public health, to tourism and to the future.Chinais the common treasure of all Chinese, and we should live up to be a member of this big family, a descendant of 5000-year-plus ancient civilized country. I think the environment must absolutely be strictly protected by all means. This protection should go at the same pace as the marvelous development of the nation.

这种缺乏考虑大自然的行为一般都会对孩子的教育，对中国的形象，对公众的健康，对游客以及对未来很不利。中国是所有中国人共有的宝贵财富，我们必须成为这个大家庭中合格的一员，成为5000年古老文明的国家的子孙。我认为必须想方设法严格的保护环境，这种保护应该与国家的快速发展的步伐相一致。

My English Teacher

我的英语老师

Today, I go to school with a headache. At the beginning, it is just a slightly pain. Nevertheless, it is not until the English lesson that my head pains heavily. So it is difficult for me to take notes. Luckily, my English teacher notices it so she takes me to the office. With a big smile on her face and caring words, she gives me a glass of water. To my surprise, she offers to help me notes. It is her love that warms me up. At that moment, I whisper myself that I will do my utmost to help others as kind as my English teacher.

今天我去学校的时候头很痛。一开始，只是轻微的疼痛。然而，在上英语课的时候我的变得很痛。所以记笔记对我来说变得很困难。幸运的是，我的英语老师发现了，并把我带到了办公室。她脸上挂着微笑并说着一些关心的话，递给我一杯水。使我吃惊的是，她提出要帮我记笔记。是她的爱温暖了我。在那一刻，我轻声对自己说，我会像我的英语老师一样尽我最大的努力去帮助别人。

With the improvement of our living standard， more and more people can afford a car。

As a result， our roads are more often than not crammed with cars。

However， with more and more waste gas being discharged by the cars， the problem of air pollution bees even more serious。

So nowadays we advocate to lead a low-carbon life。

My suggestion is we should ride bikes more often instead of driving cars。

By riding a bike， we can not only exercise our body but also protect our environment。

与我们的生活水平的提高，越来越多的人都买得起汽车的。

因此，道路往往没有堆满了汽车。
