夏天，莲池里长出了郁郁葱葱、碧绿的荷叶。瞧，那一片片荷叶有的像一把撑开的雨伞，有的像碧绿的大盘，有的像一把精致的小扇子。清晨荷叶上滚动着的露珠，像一颗颗晶莹剔透的珍珠洒落在盘上。有时还有几只青蛙在荷叶上“呱呱”地叫，仿佛把这碧绿的荷叶成了它的演奏台。

透过荷叶的空隙，只见一根根细长带刺的荷梗在水面上昂首挺胸，荷梗的顶端缀满了千姿百态的荷花，红的似火，粉的似霞，白的似雪……有的已经绽开了灿烂的笑脸;有的才展开三两片花瓣儿;有的含苞待放，像害羞的小女孩躲在荷叶后面。
