From friday on, i started to finish up my homework assignments on my personal laptop. some of my assignments were quite boring. after i finished the homework, i emailed them to my teachers. that was the end of it. i started to prepare things for school on this coming monday.

The summer vacation had come round again. I was happy that I could forget about school at least for a while. Lest I fool around all through this summer vacation, I made a plan as to how to spend it. Then I thought I should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. 曾经有有这样一个耐人寻味的小故事。

甲乙在森林里过夜。一早，森林里跑出一只黑熊。甲连鞋子也顾不上穿，拔腿就跑；而乙慌忙地穿上鞋子，甲问乙生死攸关了，为何还要顾着穿鞋？乙告诉他：“我不是要跑得过熊，而是要跑得过你！”

这则故事看似残酷，但却形象地反映出当今社会的现状。

在这个现代多元化社会中，随时随地会趁人不备之时冒出“黑熊”，这时人就要面临两个选择：一是坐以待毙，听天由命；二是奋力一博，不知输赢，也要全力一击。而选前者大多是优柔寡断，畏畏缩缩的懦者；而后者尽管不知输赢，哪怕是失败，那仍是苦难面前的强者。

说到这，又令我想起另一则故事，形象地诠释了竞争与合作的关系。

有一群人住在草原上，总受到野兽的侵害。若他们不断地练习跑步，各自比速度，不成为野兽的口中餐，这就是竞争；而若众人设计想法打死野兽，这就是合作。

由此看来竞争与合作是在这个社会生存的必然选择。竞争就是要比别人优胜，以此为筹码超越同行，在众人之中脱颖而出，战胜对手，从而提升自身的价值观。然而团结力量大，合作在当今社会中仍发挥着重要的优势，合作精神也应弘扬。从而说明这两者的关系是相互依存，相互配合，相互促进，共同促进着社会积极进步

而这本是个弱肉强食的世界，竞争无处不在。说大了是国与国之间的竞争，说小了是两人之间的较量。那么如何在竞争中脱颖而出呢？

一是要赋有上进心，绝不愚昧地满足于现状，停滞不前。要时刻具有危机感和压迫感，充分了解自己的竞争底线。别忘了你的对手也在努力，所以不应松懈，否则对手就会乘虚而入，这点在商业职场上尤其重要。因此这是竞争的前提。

二是要不断地学习扩充自身的知识面，时刻更新旧知识，在学习中不断激活大脑，积极培养自身的能力和创造力。这样才能快速地比别人获取多一倍的筹码，以速度战胜同行，以能力迎备竞争。因此这是竞争的中心环节，也是成功与否的关键。
