The worlds environment is surprisingly healthy. Discuss. Indeed, if people lived, consumed and produced things in the same way as they did in 1900 , the world by now would be a pretty disgusting place: smelly, dirty, toxic and dangerous.

That is why todays environmental problems in the poor countries ought, in principle, to be solvable.

Raw materials have not run out, and show no sign of doing so. Logically, one day they must: the planet is a finite place. Yet it is also very big, and man is very ingenious. What has happened is that every time a material seems to be running short, the price has risen and, in response, people have looked for new sources of supply, tried to find ways to use less of the materials, or looked for a new substitute. For this reason prices for energy and for minerals have fallen in real terms during the century. The same is true for food. Prices fluctuate, in response to harvests, natural disasters and political instability; and when they rise, it takes some time before new sources of supply become available. But they always do, assisted by new farming and crop technology. The long-term trend has been downwards.

题型一：分析说明文的句子作用

这种题型的特点是：在文中抽出一个句子或一个文段，要求分析这个句子或文段在全文结构上的作用。这种题型解法很简单：首先判断句子或文段是在文首、文中、还是文末;然后再按如下规律答题即可。一般情况下，句子或文段在文中不同的位置有不同的作用：在文首，作用多是统领全文、总起全文或引出下文;在文中，作用多是承上启下;在文末，作用多是总结全文。

题型二：提出说明文说明的问题的解决办法

这种题型的特点是：开放性强，要求针对文中所说明的某种现象或某个问题，提出合理的解决办法或应对措施。命题的形式通常有：

①应如何正确看待或防范“……”？请你略作分析。

②从上文对“……”的说明中，你能得到什么启示？

③针对文中所提到的“……”问题，请你提出几条合理的建议。

题型三：引用古籍或名言的目的。

先要理解所引古籍或名言的含义，现联系说明的内容，看看这两者间有何内在联系，就能领悟其引用的目的了。在说明的开头文段或中间叙述有关的故事，究竟起何作用：

在文章开头叙述故事，其目的往往是为了引起读者阅读的兴趣，或者是为了引出说明对象。

在文章或段落中间叙述故事，往往是为了增强说明文的可读性，同时也为了说明事物的来源或作用。

怎样快速做好英语阅读理解

先看题目后看文章。一般大多数人做阅读时都是先看文章再做题，这也是考试的最一般方法。这种方法的缺点是往往在做题目的时候由于印象不深需要重新看文章寻找答案。而先看问题，带着问题去看文章，那么看到与问题相关的语句就仔细看，无关的可以粗略的看，这样既准确的找到了问题的答案又节省了时间。

每段的首尾句要认真的看。阅读理解的题目中都会出现主旨题。例如：what is the main idea of the first paragraph?对于这类题目的答案一般都在段落的首句，有的时候也会出现在尾句中。所以一定要认真看首尾句。

运用猜测法。在做阅读理解题时，猜测也是一种能力。同样一篇文章，有些人简直不知道该如何下手，而另一些人能运用自己平时在生活中的经验积累，根据上下文进行逻辑推理，排除错误的选项，找出最有可能的选项。当然，这也是建立在一定的知识积累上的，所以平时要多注意知识的积累。

细节题用快速阅读法。有些细节题，比如which of the following sentence is nou true?对于这类题则快速跳阅文章，找到相关语句，仔细核对比较，直到找到正确答案。

最后要注意平时词汇的积累。词汇的积累是每一个学习者必须面临的巨大工程。记单词最好的方法是多读些自己感兴趣的英语原著，先去猜词的意思，实在猜不出的时候再查字典，这样对单词的印象就极为深刻，不容易忘记。这比拿着单词本背单词效果要好的多。

资料的选择

首先，历年考试真题是必备的资料，真题是一个标准，做真题可以把握试题难度，出题角度，了解命题重点。其次，考研阅读辅导书，这种资料贵精不在多。做完后，我们应该反复的研读真题，思考不同类型文章的出题风格，从中摸索规律以提高阅读水平与做题技巧。

积累词语

要提高阅读水平，词汇量与短语量非常重要，打个比方：造房子要砖瓦材料，词汇就是阅读英语的砖瓦材料，没有相当量的英语词汇，阅读英语是无法进行的。所以要提高阅读水平，我们就得学会积累词语。我们不妨这么做：在通读全文后看第二遍，遇到生词尽可能根据上下文来猜，仍猜不出意思的，就把这些生字查好词典，然后抄写在一本可随身携带的小本子上。每天有空时，就拿出这小本子背诵记忆，这样做不费时，效果却很好，因不断接触，反复记忆，词汇量增加得很快。

读完文章后我们常有这样的情况：句子都能看懂，但读完文章印象却不深，这就牵涉到对文章框架结构的整体理解。如何学会对文章的整体理解呢?首先，要重视文章的题目和文章的首句。因为文章的题目就是文章的主题，文章的内容就是环绕主题展开。首句很关键是因为首句是文章的导入，点明作者写文章的意图，背景等。接着的每一段的第一句也很重要，因为每段的第一句实际上多半是每段的主题句，然后进行陈述或论述，逐步展开，给予例证，最后把该段内容用一句话来小结，所以每段的最后一个句子常常是该段的结论句，而整篇文章的最后一句就往往是这篇文章的结论或作者写这篇文章的用意所在。

英语阅读理解实用解题技巧

一、事实细节题

对于事实细节题，剖析一下不难看出，事实细节的内容不会单独出现，它总会与前前后后的段落内容相呼应。考生只要抓住整体大纲，看懂主题，利用内容间的因果关系，通过时间空间的关系转换，并对细节进行深入的剖析了理解，确定主题，将零碎的细节组成一个有机整体，就能深刻理解材料的内容，从而轻松解决问题。

二、词句理解题

词句理解题主要讲究的是理解题意，通过短文的词、短语或句子的理解来充分理解题意，，碰到不熟悉的词语要避过，先略读再通读，仔细推敲，尤其是对语境的理解要准确。

三、推理判断题

推理判断题最主要的就是注重文章结构的逻辑关系，抓住关键词，结合有关的生活和社会常识，理清文章的结构层次、文章内容和文章的中心思想，推断作者的写作意图和写作目的，进行推断。

四、归纳概括题

适合这类题型的阅读理解通常具体反映在文章的题目或一段短文的小标题上;很多文章从一开头就直接说出观点，表达中心思想。所以对于这类题型，一定要提示学生注意主题句和主题段，绝大多数的短文类似于语文的老三段，注意段与段之间的联系，注意隐藏的中心思想，准确了解文章结构，把握句与句之间的关系，注重逻辑关系，把握住文章的脉络即可。

五、图表理解题

图表题一般最简单，主要考察的就是学生的思维模式，注意逻辑关系，分析其中的细节，找出符合图示所要求的必要条件。

英语原版小说的阅读技巧与策略说实话,在原版小说的阅读方面,我不是高手,虽然有很多恩师淳淳教导,自己也买了借了很多原版小说,在我印象中,没有一本好好读完的,唯一的一本大16开的600多pages的原版教材,到是花了3个月的时间啃完了.

近来由于2外的需要,本人再次向原版小说进军.我把自己的一些3角猫的阅读技巧与策略祥述如下,希望各位高人指点在下…

1. why to read original edition novel

要想真正提高外语水平,阅读原版小说是必经之路,正如不是每个人都能成为外语高手一样,

不是每个人都能够有毅力读完N本原版小说的.(我特佩服门卫,能够把一本都上N遍,如果我有这种毅力的话,早就成为高手了…)

2. fundamental conditions

语法:系统准确的掌握语法. 基本上,如果是E,高中毕业以后这一点都达到了

词汇: 熟练词汇>2.5k, 认知词汇>5k

工具书:一本C-E,

一本E-E,或者用文曲星代替,但我偏好字典----词汇认知学指出,词汇的记忆效果与词汇的检索时间正相关(我现在读法文,由3本D, F-C,F-E,F-F)

3. 选材,仁者见仁,就我个人而言, 我偏好当代中篇作品(我现在选了一本Marcel Pagnol 写于1957年的, 280pages)

4. 前期工作: 查找百科全书或相应的工具书,了解到作者的生平,作品,世人的评价.

5. 阅读中的词汇学习: 每天阅读6 pages(6X225=1350字),在阅读过程中碰到new words先做标记,读完后再查D, 把生词记载在本子上,并及时背诵(我现在最怕的就是这一点,会不会半途而废???)

我准备默读, 这是我的习惯,朗读太费劲了,泛读也没有意义,介于精泛之间

我主要研究其词汇搭配.词汇的用法是语言中最难的,比如,法语中最简单的一个介词à,用法不计其数,在大型D上有好几页,

为什么同样的词汇在名家手下就生龙活虎,到了我的手下就一潭死水呢?我认为这应该是读原版小说的最根本目的.

记得AS以前告诫我,要多学词法,少背词汇, 可惜一直没有好好的实行, 现在,我就以法语作为实验品吧…再次谢谢AS!!!

我准备把注意力集中在介词,连词,动词上面,因为名词和形容词的用法太简单了,不知这样是否OK?

There were three of them. There were four of us, and April lay on the campsite and on the river, a mixture of dawn at a damp extreme and the sun in the leaves at cajole. "Mornin, been yet?" one of them said as he pulled his boots up from the folds at his knees, the tops of them as wide as a big mouth bass coming up from the bottom for a frog sitting on a lily pad. His hands were large, the fingers long and I could picture them in a shop barn working a primal plane across the face of a maple board. Custom-made, old elegance, those hands said.

"Barely had coffee," Ed LeBlanc said, the most vocal of the four of us, quickest at friendship, at shaking hands. "Weve got a whole pot almost. Have what you want." The pot was pointed out sitting on a hunk of grill across the stones of our fire, flames licking lightly at its sides. The pot appeared as if it had been at war, a number of dents scarred it, the handle had evidently been replaced, and if not adjusted against a small rock it would have fallen over for sure. Once, a half-hour on the road heading north, noting it missing, wed gone back to get it. When we fished the Pine River, coffee was the glue, the morning glue, the late evening glue, even though wed often unearth our beer from a natural cooler in early evening. Coffee, camp coffee, has a ritual. It is thick, it is dark, it is potboiled over a squaw-pine fire, it is strong, it is enough to wake the demon in you, stoke last evenings cheese and pepperoni. First man up makes the fire, second man the coffee; but into that pot has to go fresh eggshells to hold the grounds down, give coffee a taste of history, a sense of place. That means at least one egg be cracked open for its shells, usually in the shadows and glimmers of false dawn. I suspect thats where "scrambled eggs" originated, from some camp like ours, settlers rushing west, lumberjacks hungry, hoboes lobbying for breakfast. So, camp coffee has made its way into poems, gatherings, memories, a time and thing not letting go, not being manhandled, not being cast aside.

Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly and painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he was reading, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealers name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words… "PAID IN FULL".

How many times do we miss blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for. Sometimes we dont realize the good fortune we have or we could have because we expect "the packaging" to be different. What may appear as bad fortune may in fact be the door that is just waiting to be opened.

The mother said, "Here is some very tasty and nourishing food, all you have to do is come get it."

"Come get it!" said the baby, with much anger. "How?"

The mother flew away.

The baby cried and cried and cried.

A few days later, "Im going to end it all," he said. "I give up. It is time for me to die."

He didnt know his mother was nearby. She swooped down to the nest with his last meal.

"Eat this, its your last meal," she said.

The baby cried, but he ate and whined and whined about what a bad mother she was.

"Youre a terrible mother," he said. Then she pushed him out of the nest.

He fell.

Head first.

Picked up speed.

Faster and faster.

He screamed. "Im dying Im dying," he cried. He picked up more speed.

He looked up at his mother. "How could you do this to me?"

He looked down.

The ground rushed closer, faster and faster. He could visualize his own death so clearly, coming so soon, and cried and whined and complained. "This isnt fair!" he screamed.

Something strange happens.

The air caught behind his arms and they snapped away from his body, with a feeling unlike anything he had ever experienced. He looked down and saw the sky. He wasnt moving towards the ground anymore, his eyes were pointed up at the sun.

"Huh?" he said. "What is going on here!"

"Youre flying," his mother said.

"This is fun!" laughed the baby eagle, as he soared and ped and swooped.
