Table Manners

The main difference between Chinese and western eating habits is that unlike the West, where everyone has their own plate of food, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. If you are being treated by a Chinese host, be prepared for a ton of food. Chinese are very proud of their culture of cuisine and will do their best to show their hospitality.

And sometimes the Chinese host use their chopsticks to put food in your bowl or plate. This is a sign of politeness. The appropriate thing to do would be to eat the whatever-it-is and say how yummy it is. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can just say a polite thank you and leave the food there.

Eating No-nos

Dont stick your chopsticks upright in the rice bowl.Instead,lay them on your dish. The reason for this is that when somebody dies,the shrine to them contains a bowl of sand or rice with two sticks of incense stuck upright in it. So if you stick your chopsticks in the rice bowl, it looks like this shrine and is equivalent to wishing death upon a person at the table!

Make sure the spout of the teapot is not facing anyone. It is impolite to set the teapot down where the spout is facing towards somebody. The spout should always be directed to where nobody is sitting, usually just outward from the table.

Dont tap on your bowl with your chopsticks.Beggars tap on their bowls, so this is not polite.Also, when the food is coming too slow in a restarant, people will tap their bowls. If you are in someones home,it is like insulting the cook.

莫高窟，俗称千佛洞，坐落在河西走廊西端的敦煌。492个洞窟像蜂窝似的排列在断崖绝壁上，是祖国西北的一颗明珠。

莫高窟保存着两千多尊彩塑。这些彩塑个性鲜明，神态各异。有慈眉善目的菩萨，有威风凛凛的天王，还有强壮勇猛的力士。有一尊卧佛长达16米，他侧身卧着，眼睛微闭，神态安详。看到这一尊尊惟妙惟肖的彩塑，游人无不啧啧赞叹。

同学们你们知道世界上规模最大，保存最完整的帝王宫殿是哪座宫殿吗？那就是我国的故宫。故宫是明清两代的宫殿，共有24位皇帝在此登基即位。由于故宫里收藏着大量的珍贵文物，所以改名为故宫博物院。

故宫的三大殿是太和殿、中和殿和保和殿。太和殿俗称“金銮宝殿”，是故宫等级最高的宫殿。在太和殿中举行的仪式都非常高级，例如皇帝登基、节日庆典等。中和殿是皇帝去太和殿前小憩或演习礼仪的宫殿。保和殿是举行殿试和宴会的地方。

介绍完了故宫，那大家对人间仙境黄山了解的又有多少？黄山以“三奇四绝”的奇异风采名冠于世。天都峰、莲花峰、光明顶是黄山的三大主峰，素称“三奇”。怪石、奇松、云海、温泉素称黄山“四绝”。黄山的名松有迎客松、送客松、蒲团松、凤凰松、棋盘松等。迎客松是黄山第一名松。到黄山未看迎客松，等于未游黄山。由此可看出，迎客松的名气有多大！

书里的知识可真不少。我要认真阅读这本书，把学到的知识讲给同学们听。

长城，是中华民族的象征，是华夏儿女的骄傲。它像一条巨龙盘踞在中国北方辽阔的土地上，长城全长约12600里，它是中国古代劳动人民智慧和血汗的结晶。

据记载，早在春秋战国时就有了长城，那时燕赵国诸侯为了防御敌国入侵，修筑了烽火台，并用厚重的城墙连接起来，便形成了中国历史上最早的长城。秦朝统一中国后连成了万里长城。可经历2000年的战乱和炮火，那时的长城已化为碎石。如今所说的万里长城是明代修筑的。

长城大都建在山岭最高处，沿着山脊把蜿蜓无尽的山势勾画出清晰的轮廓。在万里长城上分布着百座雄关、隘口，成千上万座敌台、烽火台，使高低起伏的地形显得更雄奇险峻，充满巨大的魅力。据说秦始皇使用了近百万劳力修筑长城，占当时全国总人口的1/20，当时没有任何机械，全部劳动靠人力，十分艰难。

关于长城还有一个感人的爱情故事：范喜良和孟姜女新婚不到三天，范喜良就被官兵捉去修长城，后来孟姜女千里迢迢来到长城，谁知有人告诉她，范喜良已经死了。她在长城脚下痛哭，不知哭了多久，只听“轰隆”一声，长城倒了几千米，露出了范喜良的尸首。

今天的长城早已失去军事价值，而是以其特有的魅力，吸引着广大中外游客。俗话说：“不到长城非好汉”让我们一起登上长城领略它的磅礴气势吧。

I am _x and I am 12 years old. My favorite sports include basketball, swim and football. One of my favorite stars is Liu Xiang because he is the fastest runner in the world and a pride of our country. I have love fruits like watermelon, grapes, banana, and so forth. If you go to Lintong and visit the Terra Cotta Warriors ,you cant’t miss the Qin Ling Mountain, also. You can see lots of plants and animals in the mountain. They are so beautiful.

If you have enough time, you can go to the Bell Tower, too .The Bell Tower have three floors. It is surrounded by the City Wall. There is a big bell in the tower. Walking down the sidewalk, you can see the Drum Tower and Muslim Street. On the Muslim Street, there are lots of delicious food, such as cold rice noodles, Chinese hamburgers ,

Paomoand so on. These foods can be found in all parts of Xian. My favourite food is Chinese hamburgers.

Hello ！welcome to the special Chinese new years edition of discovering China. Im Alina Li and Im Ben Hedges, and today well be taking you through some of the most important traditions of Chinese new year and historical background. We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.

The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

当缶声震天，一个个刚烈的汉子舞动着双臂，将全场带入了第一个高潮!我为其撼动，为其欢呼!当一群身披红袍的儒生们对“字”行礼时，我几乎亦欲为之稽首：“朝闻道，夕死可亦!”四大发明，四大国粹，汉舞似写意画一般，红的湖州大毫黏着焦黑的墨香，几乎一并向宣州白纸甩去，微州墨味清而不远，浓而不俗，似万只墨色蝴蝶连翩飞去，就连镇台的端州古玩也为之吟唱!

如果说开幕式的前期更似文房四宝的话剧，那太极拳则是中华文化中庸和济思想的体现，我知道外国人也是与我们一样，同在一个世界，同在青龙。朱雀，白虎，玄武，四象的照耀之下，同属二十八宿的星辰之间。在中国武术在空中展示中。我看到一个国家和一个地球，看到了中国的自信与风采，看到了一个真实的中国，她重在彰显一个东方古国的魅力!

汉民族之花终于在世界面前绽放。大家，请一道为我们的文化喝彩吧!让大同观念在圣火中绽放，让和谐理想在世界前发芽!

中国是一个历史悠久的国家，有着五千年的瑰宝。唐代有诗，宋代有词，元代有曲……我热爱于这些智慧结晶!但点缀着它们的还有可爱的标点符号们。

我爱逗号，长得像小蝌蚪的逗号在文章中十分受欢迎，惹人喜爱。当句子太长，让人捉不透时，逗号大师便登场了。对，这需要停顿一下，这就不需要了。瞧，一句优美的句子就诞生了。

我爱中华文化，我爱我的祖国!

中国，这个拥有上下五千年不朽历史的文明古国。一路走来，历经了无数的风霜，饱尝了硝烟与炮火的洗礼，走出了一段段漫长而艰难的岁月，但同时，也运载着不少形形色色广为流传的中国文化，在这段历史长河中闪烁着光辉。

中华民族的传统文化，向来都是我们中华儿女所歌颂所赞美，并引以为傲的瑰宝。而如今，随着时代的进步，科技的发展，这些古老典雅的文化逐渐消逝了，我不能不为之感叹，难道那各具特色的民族风俗，那寓意万千的传统节日，那无可替之的东方艺术，那别出心裁的各种工艺，还有那……就要随着时间的流逝而消逝吗?不!我不希望会出现这种结果。但我却也不敢保证是否会出现这样的情况，也许，不用我说，大家都心知肚明，当今社会，追求时尚，追求洋气，追求上流的年轻人数不胜数，他们追求洋装，过着圣诞节，却忽视了祖国的传统节日。如果按这种趋势走下去，我无法想象，也不敢想象，明天，会是什么样子!那时候，还有变化多端的京剧吗?还有新颖亮丽的民族服装吗?还有端午节的龙舟大赛吗?还有各种各样的戏曲、皮影吗?

1949年10月1日，这个多少中华儿女为之赞叹，多少人刻骨铭心的日子，从那时起至今天，算一算，已过了61个年头，这个顽强的国家，正在一步步向前迈进，迎接她的是繁荣，是兴旺!在这些历史长河中，硝烟与炮火曾抹杀了无数年轻的生命，祖国的土地曾洒下了无数殷红的鲜血……爱我中华，勿忘国耻使我们每一个中华儿女的职责!与此同时，祖先们留下的博大精深的传统文化，我们应该毫不犹豫的传承下去，并引以为荣!

将来，我不知道这个社会会发展到什么程度，但我会尽我所能，学好中国文化!我没有能力要求每一个中华儿女必须传扬中国文化，我只有用我手中的笔来书写我对祖国文化的热爱，用我的行动来学好并传承那古老典雅的传统文化!愿我们每一个中华儿女，也从现在开始，认真关注并学习中国文化!

The passage mainly tells us the importance of protecting traditional

Chinese culture, which is challenged or facing extinction because of the

developing society and changing lifestyle. Besides, China is nationwide sparing

no efforts to do it.

The protection of national and folk culture is of great significance to

Chinese cultural diversity and also to the harmonious development between local

economic and social development. It is reported that the Guangdong government

pays special attention to protecting Chaoju(潮剧)， a local drama born in Chaozhou

in the eastern Guangdong province.

In my opinion, some measures should be taken to protect traditional culture

effectively. To start with, we should make a law to regulate the society’s

performance. Besides, we should draw more people’s attention to it, for the more

they know about the importance of culture protection, the stronger the support

we can get from the public.

In a word, it is high time for us to treasure and develop our own valuable

culture.
