People’s health has been greatly affected by air, noise and water pollution. Many people died of diseases. In order to live a better life, something must be done to stop the pollution. It’s our duty to protect our environment. We shouldn’t throw away rubbish everywhere. Trees are very helpful and important for us. We should plant more and more trees in order to live better and more healthy in the future.

If everyone makes contribution to protecting the environment, the world will become much more beautiful. 我的家乡在美丽的洪泽湖畔，闻名遐迩的京杭大运河穿城而过。可以说，没有改革开放，就没有家乡的今天。在这短短几年的时间里，她却发生了天翻地覆的变化。原来那个贫穷落后的苏北小县城，一下子变成了一个“现代都市”。

提起我们家乡原来的街道，最令我羞愧。汽车走在路上，一会儿颠一下，一会儿又簸一下，让人格外难受。街道上大大小小的坑，像姑娘脸上的青春痘，令人讨厌。路边的步行街也是如此。人们走在步行街上，心情就不会舒畅，一边走，一边还得注意有没有坑，怕摔着。可是从前几年开始，工人们就把坎坷狭窄的公路全部撬开，铺成了一条条笔直宽阔的柏油马路。虽然铺地的时候，看着杂乱无章，可是铺完以后，路面一下子变得既平滑又干净。步行街也换了新颜。人们走在上面，心里别提多高兴。到了冬天，下起了雪，但地面彩砖是防滑的，人们的心也踏实多了。每天放学，走在这平坦而又整洁的道路上，感觉真惬意。

开放的泗阳现现已成为人们创业的热土，聚集着四方来客。一个个公园错落有致，一座座厂房拔地而起，一幢幢高楼鳞次栉比。可昔日的县城，甚至看不到一处象样的建筑。记得以前有一个荒废已久的公园，里面长满野草，死的花草遍地都是；枯黄的树枝横七竖八，干枯的落叶像飞舞的蝴蝶，落了一地；里面的小亭也已经破塌不堪，像一位迟暮的老人，面容枯槁。人们每天从那里经过，都会抱怨：“这里这么脏，这么破，怎么没人过问打扫呢！”可是自从去年以来，人们把这个公园彻底夷为平地，开始开发成典雅别致的商住小区。现在，一座座高楼大厦终于落成，大而方的玻璃整齐地镶嵌在大楼上。城市的各种配套设施也一应俱全。两边的路灯，明亮但不耀眼，使人油然而生一种安谧祥和的感受，过往的人们无不拍手叫好，留恋往返。

如今的家乡已经不是曾经的那个“马路遍地坑，公园乱蓬蓬”的泗阳了。新社会，新发展，新风尚，新面貌。日新月异、方兴未艾的改革开放浪潮，使大运河畔正在崛起一座环境优美、文明整洁、秩序井然、经济繁荣的现代化城市。“泗水古国、意杨之乡、新兴纺都、生态家园”已成为家乡崭新的城市名片。美丽的泗阳正迈着大步，神清气爽地向“和谐社会、小康社会”的方向大步前行！
