Hour Yi ignored her advice and，corrupted by fame and fortune，became a tyrannical leader. Chang-Err，his beautiful wife， could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. And thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon，the Moon Fairy.

The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty，an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zing was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message.

When the cake was opened and the message read，an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. It happened at the time of the full moon，which，some say，explains why moonquakes are eaten at this time.

Moonquakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the ry and the type of filling used. Some ries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalized ones to friends and family.

They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. Traditional moonquakes are made with melted lard，but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health.

到了晚上，吃过晚饭，我捧出一个大团圆月饼，把它切成十几块，虽然我吃的很饱，但是也要吃一块，因为它代表了团圆和健康!嘴里吃着香甜的月饼，看着全家人开心的样子，我觉得真是幸福啊!

大家都说月饼象征着团圆，我也这样认为。一想到月饼既漂亮又香甜，我就情不自禁地咽口水。今年中秋节，我想不如这个中秋节我们自个儿做月饼吧。我把想法告诉了家人，大家都表示赞同。

说干就干，我们决定做苏式月饼。苏式月饼外面有一层酥酥脆脆的皮，里面有各种香甜的馅，就好像千层饼一样，我最喜欢吃了。奶奶负责和面，爷爷负责做馅子，爸爸妈妈做我的助手。嘻嘻，你们是不是已经猜到我要干什么啦？对，我就是这次的“小小厨师”。

各种准备就绪，下面我就要隆重登场一显身手了。第一步，我把一大块面上取下一个个像桂圆一样大小的面团。第二步，我把面擀成不大不小的面皮，妈妈提醒我注意不要太薄，我就小心擀着，让妈妈帮忙看着，擀成一个个圆圆的面皮。第三步，把面皮正中间放上馅子，然后压成饼形。最后放进烤箱大约等半个小时就够了。一想到自己亲手制作的月饼马上就要呈现在大家面前，我既兴奋又激动，想象着一家人围坐在阳台上，品尝着香甜的月饼，欣赏着月亮的美好画面，我的心里美滋滋的，而且我还打算分给左邻右舍，让他们一起分享这甜蜜的美食。
