当竹篮里的粽叶洗到一半时，村里的屠户老板就会在村头村尾叫：“卖猪肉喽，卖猪肉喽。”此时的母亲会从口袋中掏出一张一百的钞票，叫我买猪肉的同时，看到有卖鱼的，卖鸡的，卖鸭的都买点回家。我每次接住母亲手中的钱，就飞速地向屠夫老板卖猪肉的地方跑去，可每次跑去，屠夫的旁边都围满了买猪肉的村们，大家都你砍两斤五花肉，我砍三斤猪头肉地买着，十分的热闹，我每次都要近半小时才能买到猪肉。

等我买到这些肉类回家放着，再次到达水井边洗粽叶时，村民们陆陆续续地提着家里煮熟的粽叶跟棕榈叶来这洗，大家边洗便聊家常，小孩子们在旁边嬉戏，嘻嘻哈哈的，热闹非凡。洗完粽叶跟棕榈叶后，大家回到家里，把竹篮放在一旁，然后把家里的一个大木桶和包粽子时用的糯米提到吊井的旁边，从吊井里提上水后，倒到大木桶里，把糯米洗干净。记得每次洗糯米时，我都会在一旁帮母亲提水，因此我家的糯米每次都比村民们洗得快，洗得干净。村民们洗着白花花的糯米，脸上总露出甜美的笑容，有点过年时，洗糖果米味道，因为在家乡除了过年，中秋节就是最大的节日了，大家都兴奋不已。

洗完肉类的菜后，大家都把它们提回家放着，然后到自己家的菜园里弄点香料，同样也会到河里洗干净。大约下午三点半，村民们会在家里，拿着肉类的菜在砧板上切呀，砍呀，还有在灶上刷锅呀，那声音在每户人家都可以听到的。
