Several other countries in East Asia, including Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, are grappling with similar problems. But the implications of Chinas reform efforts are particularly profound. Chinas traditional education methods are ideally suited to a political culture that requires citizens to submit blindly to authority. By encouraging students to question their teachers and regard them as equals (even official literature now talks of fostering a “democratic” atmosphere in classrooms), China could be ushering in a new kind of relationship between the rulers and the ruled.

那天，我想来想去，明天好像要发试卷。我原本安然的心似乎跳得更快了。我怀着忐忑的心入睡了。第二天一早，我像没事一样起床了，我居然忘了发试卷的事，还高高兴兴地出门了!我骑着电动车，还唱着“太阳当空照，花儿对我笑……”丝毫没有把发考卷的事放在心上，我却不知为何感到了不祥。

天空竟下起了小雨，这时才想起发试卷的事，不知不觉，竟到了校门口。

可好景不长，比昙花一现的时间还短。这不妈妈一手叉着腰，一手指着我的鼻子，扯着女高音似的嗓子喊道：“看看，一天到晚就知道看电视，我怎么从没看见你看书呢?告诉你，现在你已经是六年级的学生了，是关键时刻;。不要整天泡在电视机前，一点也不知道学习，去给我看书去!”妈妈刚说完，就在一旁喘着大口的粗气。我嘴里不由嘀咕“我才刚刚看了一会儿，就着副模样!”我假装从椅子慢腾腾起来，眼睛微微向电视望去，余光还死死地盯着电视屏幕，我可不想善此罢休。我要搞“地下活动”，我的速度慢的惊人，一旁的妈妈见我在耍小把戏，大步流星走过来，扯着我“帮”我进房间看书，妈妈不一会儿就把我推到房间看书了。

我一声长叹“唉”，今天虽然是礼拜天，是我们学生放松身心的日子，但是由于父母的望子成龙、望女成凤心切，把我们关在房间看书。学习固然重要，可是我们这些学生也需要自由，需要像鸟笼里的小鸟一样出去透透空气，需要在大自然里、生活里放松娱乐一下，需要……当我望着枯燥的书本时，我在想我的思想也会被关起来吗?我的思维会创新吗?我是否变的像木头一样呆呢?我真想呼吁一声：“爸爸妈妈，还我一个金色的童年!让我茁壮的成长吧!”

埋头苦读也许会让我在父母心中变的更乖巧，可也让我变的机械化。放我出去会儿吧!
