Outside of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, Chinese New Year  also celebrated in countries with significant Han Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. In countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States, although Chinese New Year  not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Australia Post, Canada Post, and the US Postal Service sues New Years themed stamps.

Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It  also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper  a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by whing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition  a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wh peace and happiness for everyone.

Although the Chinese calendar traditionally does not use continuously numbered years, outside China its years are often numbered from the reign of Huangdi. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year 2009 "Chinese Year" 4707, 4706, or 4646.

Last weekend we and sister family to ski resort to play.

During last summer vacation I paid a visit to my uncle’s. It was the first time I had seen the sea. Tow years ago my uncle a closed friend of my father transferred from Shanxi to Yantai a beautiful port city; and then my aunt joined him a couple months later. And a year later I became their guest and was going to stay with them for a week. 今年我们做的月饼与往年不同。往年我们做的月饼都需要烘烤一下，今年的不需要啦！因为今年我们要做的是——冰皮月饼！听起来就很好吃，冰爽、丝滑、香甜可口。

中午，我们迫不及待地来到教室，着手准备月饼材料。我们先领取了帽子，防止调皮的头发掉进香喷喷的月饼中。然后，戴上干净的手套。最后，每人领取两个冰皮、两种不同口味的馅、两份预拌粉和摁压器。

所有的材料准备好后，我们开始做月饼了。我们首先把预拌粉洒在冰皮上，使冰皮变得光滑。然后把冰皮放在手心，用另一只手摁压，压成饺子皮的形状。最后把馅轻轻的放在冰皮中间，像妈妈包包子那样，小心翼翼地把冰皮一点一点拾起来，整体拾起来后揉成一个球形的形状。如果拾不起来边，就直接揉成球的形状，在慢慢转的过程中，冰皮就会把馅包裹住。最后，把做好的球放进摁压器中，印上漂亮的花纹。如果第一次没摁好、第二次也没摁好、第三次还是没摁好，那你就得把你的耐心拿出来，继续重复包裹。最终，总会做出一个漂亮的冰皮月饼。

中秋吃月饼的习俗据传最早还是在唐代，唐太宗在贞观四年时，征讨突厥得胜并生擒其头领，八月十五凯旋回京。为庆贺胜利，京城长安通宵狂欢。当时有个经商的吐蕃人向唐太宗献饼祝捷。李世民接过华丽的礼盒，拿出胡饼笑指天上明月说：“应将胡饼邀蟾蜍(即月亮)”，随之把胡饼分给群臣食之，这胡饼就是后来的月饼。

还有一种流传更广的说法，中秋吃月饼的习俗，据说是由元末流传下来的。相传元朝时，中原广大人民不甘受蒙古人的残酷统治，纷纷起义抗元。朱元璋欲联合反抗力量，但元官兵搜查严密，苦于无从传递消息。

所以刘伯温便想出了一条计策，命王昭光制造饼子，将写有“八月十五夜起义”字样的纸条藏入饼子里面。再使人分头传送到各地起义军中，通知他们在八月十五日晚上起义响应。因而一举推翻了元朝。

为了纪念这一功绩，因而中秋节吃月饼的习俗也就传了下来。特别在我国东北地区，更有“八月十五杀达子”的说法。人们用月饼寄托思念故乡，思念亲人之情，祈盼丰收、幸福，谐成天下人们美好的心愿。
