每到星期天我也捞不着睡懒觉，得帮父亲抬着卖豆腐，时间一长竟发现了一个秘密：人家拿瓜干换豆腐，瓜干秤的低低的，给人家豆腐时秤的高高的，这不明显吃亏吗？可父亲却说，你看咱家的豆腐卖完了，那两家的豆腐还没动，我赶紧卖完了还得出工呀。是呀，我家的豆腐卖不完，人家的豆腐就没人买，这是心知肚明的事实。父亲还有个绝活，那就是一刀切下去基本不用秤，我见过有的开玩笑就当面让试一下，结果只会多点点，从来没有少过。

但父亲为了省钱，自己到200多里外的枣庄用胶车（木制独轮橡胶轱辘）去推碳（一车在600斤上），到20里外的集市上把瓜干卖掉买回豆子。其中有一回推碳，有人捎信给我母亲说在苍山县城西下坡时，父亲被后面推碳的人把脚撞伤了，人家要送他去医院治疗，他死活不同意，给钱也不要，非得自己推着往家赶。大哥迎到后，还是坚持自己推着让大哥拉着，回到家中，父亲的鞋已经撕开用绳子绑着，脚脖肿的比腿粗，撞他的人又拿着几个鸡蛋过来看望他，他让人家把鸡蛋拿回去换盐吃，说歇两天就好了。自己却不舍得去治疗，用艾叶（一种中草药，老百姓家里一般都有）灸了十多天才敢下地，从此给他留下了脚疼的后遗症。

好景不长，生产队安排父亲从事粉条生产，上半夜洗地瓜或瓜干，下半夜磨成糊过滤成粉，白天晒干，然后就是做成粉条出售，或者用上面的粗粉做成凉粉分给社员吃。那是我永远忘不了的一件事，我去生产队叫父亲回家吃饭，正好刚做出来凉粉，父亲正要锁门离开，这时生产队长过来了，让父亲切一块凉粉给他吃。他大口大口的吃着，我直瞪瞪的看着，突然“哇”的一声哭了起来。队长抬了一下眼皮，腺（就是哭的意思）什么腺，想吃就吃一块！而父亲却把我轰走了，从那以后，再也不让我到他那里去了。

终于分成单干了（即分产到户），父亲又重新拾起了这杆秤，并添置了大一点的秤，改行做起了锅饼生意（因为我们上高中无人帮忙推磨了），基本上不用出家就卖光了，以此来供应我们上学，直干到来到县城看孙子。

父亲常说，吃亏人常在，不管人家怎么样，只要你对人家好，心里就亮堂，人人心里有杆秤；只要咱能帮上忙，咱就帮，那样心里才踏实，人都是敬怕的。那是我大爷家姐姐几个月大的孩子，医生说孩子不行了，你们趁着天黑赶紧撂了回家吧（30年前对几个月大的孩子治不好病的农村普遍处理方式），其他人都不敢抱，父亲却用棉袄揣着整整捂了一夜，结果孩子缓醒过来了，第二天打了针就好了，真是孩子的命大！

我把那杆秤挂在了父亲的遗像边，心情久久不能平静。我终于明白了父亲的用意：这杆秤是父亲做人的秤、心中的秤！父亲用这杆秤养育了我们，更是默默地为我们做出了为人的表率！
