DragonBoatFestival, often known as Tuen Ng Festival or Duan Wu Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. The exact origins of Duan Wu are unclear, but one traditional view holds that the festival memorializes the Chinese poet Qu Yuan of the Warring States Period. The local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fishes to prevent them from eating Qus body. In the early years of the Chinese Republic, Duan Wu was also celebrated as "Poets Day", due to Qu Yuans status as Chinas first poet of personal renown.

i never considered myself unique, but people are constantly telling me, "you are a miracle." to me, i was just an ordinary "guy" with realistic goals and big dreams. i was a 19-year-old student at the university of texas and well on my way toward fulfilling my "big dream" of one day becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

on may 24, 1987, i realized that nothing could ever match the joy i felt as sharon and i were married. sharon, my high school sweetheart of nine years, had always stood by me, through good and bad times. to me, sharon is my miracle, my diamond in a world filled with problems, hurt, and pain. it was sharon who dropped out of school when i was hurt so that she could constantly be at my side. she never wavered or gave up on me. it was her faith and love that pulled me through so many dark days. while other nineteen year old girls were going to parties and enjoying life, sharon devoted her life to my recovery. that, to me, is the true definition of love. after our beautiful wedding i continued working part time at the pain center and completed my work for a masters degree. we were extremely happy, but even happier when we learned sharon was pregnant.

55 groups are the minority ethnic groups. They are distributed in the

mountainous areas of southwest and northwest of China.

Being too far away from big cities, the minority ethnic groups are poor in

economy and there people are not well-educated. They have very few

understandings of science and technology. So they must develop their

economy.

To help the people of the minority ethnic groups live better, the

government should take some effective measures. For one thing, more and more

knowledgeable undergraduates should be encouraged to those poor areas to help

the people there to get rid of their poverty. For another, the advanced science

and technology must be introduced into the minority ethnic groups to improve

their living conditions. More importantly, people of the minority ethnic groups
