Activities during the month would include preparing ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper, a papier-mâché form of material items such as clothes, gold and other fine goods for the visiting spirits of the ancestors. Elaborate meals (often vegetarian meals) would be served with empty seats for each of the deceased in the family treating the deceased as if they are still living. Ancestor worship is what distinguishes Qingming Festival from Ghost Festival because the latter includes paying respects to all deceased, including the same and younger generations, while the former only includes older generations. Other festivities may include, buying and releasing miniature paper boats and lanterns on water, which signifies giving directions to the lost ghosts and spirits of the ancestors and other deities.

The Ghost Festival is celebrated during the seventh month of the Chinese calendar. It also falls at the same time as a full moon, the new season, the fall harvest, the peak of Buddhist monastic asceticism, the rebirth of ancestors, and the assembly of the local community. During this month, the gates of hell are opened up and ghosts are free to roam the earth where they seek food and entertainment. These ghosts are believed to be ancestors of those who forgot to pay tribute to them after they died, or those who were never given a proper ritual send-off. They have long needle-thin necks because they have not been fed by their family, or as a punishment so that they are unable to swallow. Families also pay tribute to other unknown wandering ghosts so that these homeless souls do not intrude on their lives and bring misfortune. A large feast is held for the ghosts on the fourteenth day of the seventh month, when people brings samples of food and places them on an offering table to please the ghosts and ward off bad luck.

In some East Asian countries today, live performances are held and everyone is invited to attend. The first row of seats are always empty as this is where the ghosts sit. The shows are always put on at night and at high volumes as the sound is believed to attract and please the ghosts. Some shows include Chinese opera, dramas, and in some areas, even burlesque shows. These acts are better known as "Merry-making".

For rituals, Buddhists and Taoists hold ceremonies to relieve ghosts from suffering, many of them holding ceremonies in the afternoon or at night (as it is believed that the ghosts are released from hell when the sun sets). Altars are built for the deceased and priests and monks alike perform rituals for the benefit of ghosts. Monks and priests often throw rice or other small foods into the air in all directions to distribute them to the ghosts.

During the evening, incense is burnt in front of the doors households. Incense stands for prosperity in Chinese culture, so families believe that there is more prosperity in burning more incense.[4]During the festival, some shops are closed as they want to leave the streets open for the ghosts. In the middle of each street stands an altar of incense with fresh fruit and sacrifices displayed on it.

Fourteen days after the festival, to make sure all the hungry ghosts find their way back to hell, people flow water lanterns and set them outside their houses (a practice that can be found amongst the Japanese during Obon). These lanterns are made by setting a lotus flower-shaped lantern on a paper boat. The lanterns are used to direct the ghosts back to the underworld, and when they go out, it symbolizes that they have found their way back.

As you enter my room there is a double bed on your right side. There is navy blue bedding on my bed. I have a dresser on the other side of the room. The dresser has five drawers in it. I also have a chest on the end of my bed. The chest is filled with pitchurs. I also have a bathroom conected to my room. the bathroom has a bath and a shower. I have decerated it with the coler green. I like green because it is the coler color of the forest. I also have green drapes hanged up on the windows. That is basically what my bedroom looks like.

汽车经过三小时左右的长途跋涉终于到达了目的地。爸爸买好了门票，我活蹦乱跳的进了动物园，首先我看到了一个大地球仪屹立在喷水池里边。我们先来到了群鹦荟萃，那里有洁白的鸽子，有色彩缤纷的鹦鹉，有委婉动听的翠鸟，有聪明伶俐的八哥，还有小巧玲珑的麻雀……一个个都是了不起的音乐家、歌唱家！接着，我们又看了河马，河马的眼睛、耳朵、和鼻孔都在河马的头顶，这使它们可以花费大多数时间在水中乘凉、防晒。河马体长约3.5米，体重约4吨，是仅次于大象最大的陆地动物，虽然河马看上去很笨拙，但它们比最快的短跑运动员跑得还快，时速约达30千米/时到40千米/时。

我们几个幸运的是看到了河马小便，河马的尿比一脸盆的水还多，小便时就像喷水一样，逗得我哈哈大笑，真有趣！后来我看到了白虎，它身上的主色是白色和黑色，嘴里长满了尖锐的牙齿，伸着长舌头，有的懒洋洋地趴在地上，有的张着大嘴，有的在和别的白虎打架……爸爸买了一块肉扔给他们，它们纷纷向那块肉跑去，像一群饥肠辘辘的孩子一样抢了起来！然后，我看到了骆驼，还坐在它的身上，看着骆驼，让我想到了曾经学过得一篇课文——《冬阳·童年·骆驼队》，我看到骆驼咀嚼的样子真丑，上牙和下牙不停交错地磨来磨去，大鼻孔里冒着热气，白沫子粘在胡须上。

我坐在骆驼背上，觉得自己好高，感到很骄傲！我还看了熊猫、孔雀、岩羊、天鹅、白狮、秃鹰、短尾猴、袋鼠……时间匆匆的来，匆匆的去。美好的时间总是那么短暂，虽然今天天气很热，我汗流浃背，但我认识了更多的动物，对大自然有更多的了解，我知道因为有了动物，我们的大自然才会变得更加绚丽多彩，动物是我们最亲切，最友好的朋友，人和大自然要和谐相处，创造一个和谐社会！

全世界有794多种野生动物，其中有76科300余种濒临灭绝，还有很多已经灭绝了。人们为了钱财，不断杀害它们，导致野生动物大量灭绝。直到“非典”事件发生，人们才觉悟起来……

野生动物对我们帮助很大，例如燕子，燕子能帮我们吧田里的害虫吃掉。如果没有了它们，我们的周围就会有很多害虫，这些害虫对我们人类有很大的害处呀!

有些人认为，野生动物理应被杀掉，因为有些野生动物很危险。但我想对那些人说：没错，有些野生动物的确很危险，但它们一般多在远离人类的地方，所以我们不用害怕。而且有些野生动物也很可爱，例如大熊猫就很可爱，还有软软的绒毛。

“没有买卖，就没有杀害”这则公益广告说得真好，是的，只要人们不再去销售野生动物，就不会有人去买，更不会有被残害的野生动物了。

After completing my military service， I have been looking for a challenging goal for me to achieve. And I found that the Intermediate of General English Proficiency Test fits my new achievement properly.

I graduated from Taipei Commercial Junior College， majored in business administration. Instead of spending much time in playing， I devoted myself to my studies and paid attention to all meaningful things happened in daily life. By the way， I learned a lot from Mr. Wang， the professor of my business class. He is my good friend till now an often gives some appropriate suggestions toward my problem confusion.

长隆野生动物世界是动物的天堂，也是植物的海洋，郁郁葱葱的绿色植物还使这里的空气格外清新。我们先来到步行游览区，首先展现在我们眼前的是火烈鸟，他们全身红红的，好像一团团红艳艳的火焰，嘴巴长长的，尖尖的，真可爱!一路上我还看见南美王国、亚洲园、猿猴王国、野鸟天地、天鹅湖等。有趣的是亚洲园里的花果山剧场地，人与猴子的表演非常精彩。我们又去百虎山，百虎山上有金虎、银虎、白虎，白虎与普通老虎的毛色不一样外，它还有一种高贵的气质。接着，我们乘小火车进入“与猛兽同行区”。首先进入的是亚洲草原，在一片绿油油的草地上有骆驼、蓝孔雀和羚羊等动物们懒洋洋地吃着草，玩耍着。那些动物都是放出来的，真有趣呀!瞧，一个个都站出来，还很好奇地看着我们，我好兴奋呀!我还游览了好多个地带，有许多不同的动物，这些动物都很可爱，让人非常喜欢。

乘完小火车我又去看了动物幼儿园、国宝熊猫和澳洲珍稀动物考拉。
