I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800s, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. She felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle Armand Duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. It must have taken great courage for Marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. And it also showed that Marguerite really loved Armand Duval for she could even change herself for him.

However, happiness didn’t last for long. When M. Duval, Armands father, came to her, pleading for her to leave Armand to save both Armands reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, Marguerite saw a way to become pure of heart, if not in body. She felt that it was her duty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her during her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. I think Dumass last few lines about Marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and I also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. A person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. This applies to both men and women in many different types of circumstances: involvement in crime; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poor marriage choices; etc. And this is the fact, which exists in the whole society.

As far as the other characters in the book, I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being Armand and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Comte de G. and Comte de N. wanted her body and appearance. The Duke needed to “wake up and smell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. 晚上七点整，我们的午夜大餐正式开始，一盘盘色香味俱全、香喷喷的饭菜端上桌来，我看得眼花缭乱。开饭喽！我狼吞虎咽的把这美味佳肴往嘴里塞。妈妈把果汁和红酒拿出来，倒在高脚杯里。我端起酒杯祝愿爸爸和妈妈———身体健康，笑口常开，工作顺利；祝愿爷爷奶奶——福如东海，寿比南山。

我家不仅仅年夜大餐丰盛，家庭也那么幸，我既为有一个会做美食的的妈妈感到骄傲，也为有一个美满的家庭。

尊敬的各位教官、老师们、同学们：

上午好!

今天是我们校新生开始进行军训的日子，对高一新生进行军训暨纪律教育，是校领导集体研究决定的，得到了市青少年体训大队领导的重视和支持。在此，我代表校委会，对市青少年体训大队领导给予的关心支持表示衷心感谢，对各位教官表示欢迎和崇高敬意，对参加这一活动的老师和同学们致以诚挚的问候。

我们学校是优秀省级示范性高中，以其良好的办学条件、雄厚的师资力量、先进的教学理念、优异的高考成绩，赢得较高的美誉和社会影响。今天，它再次张开热情的臂膀，欢迎市内外新同学的到来。不可否认，由于同学们来自在不同家庭，毕业于不同初中，有着各不相同的生活习惯、学习习惯和行为习惯，对眼前的一切既感到新奇，又感到陌生;心情既兴奋，又难免忐忑不安。如何去掉怀旧情绪，尽快适应新环境，熟悉新同学，全身心投入紧张而丰富多彩的高中生活，是摆在每一位同学面前的课题，也是学校领导关注的问题。军训和纪律教育，便成为首选的媒介和方式。从加强集体生活的锻炼入手，从增进接触、交流开始，培养集体意识，铸造团队精神，加深同学之间，师生之间的了解和友谊，是我们的追求。同学们将要在教官和老师的率领下，朝夕相处，同吃、同住、同训练，也必将在活动中加深了解，培养感情，扩大共识，增进友谊。

通过军训和纪律教育，我期望达到如下目的：

一、培养学生热爱学校的情怀。热爱学校是学生的天职。作为县一中的学生，在沐浴学校、老师教育关爱的同时，要以一个孩子对母亲般的虔诚热爱母校;

二、培养关爱同学的情怀。在短暂的军训和纪律教育过程中，在相对较长的三年高中时光里，你将跟你的同学朝夕相处，共同度过人生最美好的一段时光。感谢命运让你们相遇，相遇在一个学校，一个班级、一个宿舍，一个军训的方阵里，体会并享受不是兄弟姐妹，胜似兄弟姐妹的亲密关系，有什么理由不相互关心，相互珍惜!

三、培养尊敬师长的情怀。今天的教官和老师，是你步入县一中开始读书生活遇到的第一批师长。你将很快与教官分别，三年之后，也将与老师分别。他们是你高中阶段的领路人，是陪你前行的人，是关心你生活和成长的人，希望你以感恩之心领受、体会他们宽厚的爱和辛苦指导，包括善意的批评。

四、培养集体观念和团队情怀。在成长道路上，没有孤独的成功者。每一个人都离不开他人的帮助。换言之，离开他人帮助将寸步难行。生活需要，训练需要，读书学习同样需要。把眼光放远，把心胸放宽。你的热心帮助会给你的同学带来安慰和温暖，带来信心和进步，使你的成长变得更有力量，更有价值和意义。这个世界如此广阔，请放下自我的羁绊，丢掉“娇”“骄”二气，融入由他人组成的集体怀抱，收获更大的快乐。

五、培养吃苦耐劳的情怀。吃苦耐劳这个词汇，似乎远离了我们的生活，有了老旧的不再时髦的味道，殊不知，在被遗忘时，恰恰成为人生的稀有金属。冶炼钢铁没有稀有金属的加入，不会形成特种钢。人生没有吃苦耐劳这一基本的稀有元素的加入，同样不会铸造出精彩。

最后，希望通过军训和纪律教育，我们的新同学都能获得新的人生体验：心胸得到开阔，视野得到拓展，意志得到磨练，灵魂得到净化，思想得到丰富，情操得到陶冶，境界得到升华，人格得到塑造，作风得到改善，心系父母，情牵家庭，热爱学校，尊敬师长，关心同学、勤奋团结、不怕困难，珍惜集体，立志成才，报效祖国，以旺盛的精力和健康的心境拥抱三年的高中生活!
