The Lunar New Year  a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year， during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school， and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year， people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs， sheep， cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fh and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; coupletsare posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

Lying at the center of Beijing， the Forbidden City， called Gu Gong， in Chinese， was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The northern section， or the Inner Court was where he lived with his royal family. Until 1924 when the last emperor of China was driven from the Inner Court， fourteen emperors of the Ming dynasty and ten emperors of the Qing dynasty had reigned here. Having been the imperial palace for some five centuries， it houses numerous rare treasures and curiosities. Listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987， the Palace Museum is now one of the most popular tourist attractions world wide.

Construction of the palace complex began in 1407， the 5th year of the Yongle reign of the third emperor of the Ming dynasty. It was completed fourteen years later in 1420. It was said that a million workers including one hundred thousand artisans were driven into the long-term hard labor. Stone needed was quarried from Fangshan， a suburb of Beijing. It was said a well was dug every fifty meters along the road in order to pour water onto the road in winter to slide huge stones on ice into the city. Huge amounts of timber and other materials were freighted from faraway provinces. Ancient Chinese people displayed their very considerable skills in building the Forbidden City. Take the grand red city wall for example. It has an 8.6 meters wide base reducing to 6.66 meters wide at the top. The angular shape of the wall totally frustrates attempts to climb it. The bricks were made from white lime and glutinous rice while the cement is made from glutinous rice and egg whites. These incredible materials make the wall extraordinarily strong.

Since yellow is the symbol of the royal family， it is the dominant color in the Forbidden City. Roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles; decorations in the palace are painted yellow; even the bricks on the ground are made yellow by a special process. However， there is one exception. Wenyuange， the royal library， has a black roof. The reason is that it was believed black represented water then and could extinguish fire.

每一件兵马俑都是极为精美的艺术珍品，仔细观察，他们的神态各异，有的微微颔首，若有所思，好像在考虑如何打胜这场战斗;有的眼如铜铃，神态庄重，好像要为秦国统一天下而殊死拼搏;有的凝视远方，好像在思念自己的亲人……

再望望这片兵马俑，我真是感慨万千，这些兵马俑不仅仅是一件艺术品，还是人类智慧文明的结晶，我真为我是一个中国人感到自豪。

春节，我相信，这个词语大家都不陌生。来，咱们废话少说，接下来就让我讲一讲咱们中国的传统节日春节吧！

你知道咱们的传统节日春节都要有那些东西呢？嘿嘿，没错，春节咱们要准备：鱼、肉、菜、年糕最重要的是要买鞭炮、对联和福字。下面，就让我讲讲我这一次过年的经历吧！

早上（当然，不是过年的那天早上），妈妈带我出去买鞭炮、对联和福字去了，大街上早就摆满了买年货的摊子。我对妈妈说：妈妈，咱们先期买鞭炮吧！妈妈爽快地答应了。

我们走进了一家买鞭炮的店铺，我相中了几盒小鞭，我对妈妈说：妈妈，我要这些。没问题。妈妈爽快的说妈妈也买了些挂鞭。

买完鞭炮，妈妈又带我走进了卖福字合买对联的地方买了一些福字、对联等回到家贴在窗上、门上和墙上。

买完了东西，我们回到了家，把福子和对联堆在了门上和墙上。

这就是我第一次去和妈妈每年货的经历（以前都在爷爷家玩，没空去），怎么样？
