Mid-autumn Festival is a popular and important lunar harvest festival celebrated by Chinese people. The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar. There are some traditions in this holiday. For example, people would have a big dinner with there families. After dinner, they often enjoy the full moon which is round and bright. The other tradition of mid-autumn festival is eating moon cake. Moon cake is the essential of that day, which means reunion. Moonquakes are to Mid-Autumn Festival what mince pies are to Christmas. And the moon is what this celebration is all about. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month，it is the time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and fullest.

There are two legends which claim to explain the tradition of eating moonquakes. One Tang Dynasty myth holds that the Earth once had 10 suns circling it. One day all 10 suns appeared at once，scorching the planet with their heat.

It was thanks to a skillful archer named Hour Yi that the Earth was saved. He shot down all but one of the suns. As his reward，the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hour Yi the Elixir of Immortality，but she warned him that he must use it wisely.

Hour Yi ignored her advice and，corrupted by fame and fortune，became a tyrannical leader. Chang-Err，his beautiful wife， could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. And thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon，the Moon Fairy.

The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty，an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zing was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message.

When the cake was opened and the message read，an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. It happened at the time of the full moon，which，some say，explains why moonquakes are eaten at this time.

Moonquakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the ry and the type of filling used. Some ries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalized ones to friends and family.

They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. Traditional moonquakes are made with melted lard，but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health.

Moonquakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories. The best way to wash down one of these sticky cakes is with a cup of Chinese tea，especially Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea，which aids the digestion.

In my opinion, the movie “ the pursuit of happyness “ is a meaningful film,

the hero of the movie is an active man. Though his life was very hard, his wife

Bed is behind the teaching building, see the classroom desks and chairs placed in neat, but it is our indispensable faithful partner, every classmates upright sitting concentrate ones attention on class there, fall over each other to speak, always came the sound of reading, a bent on learning. The teaching building of the right there is a basketball court, teaching to the left of the building is a large playground, where there are a lot of students are playing; every Monday, all the students went to the playground to the raising of the national flag. Playground on the left is a green lawn, where you can play, play football,,,,,, can be fun. The lawn is surrounded by a stand gracefully erect poplars, they be conscientious and do ones best to stand there, as if to defend the national dongliangzhicai. In looking at the outside is walls, walls covered with ivy, in the fall, ivy leaves slowly turned red, very good-looking, is really a beautiful scenery line.

中秋祭月，在我国是一种十分古老的习俗。据史书记载，早在周朝，古代帝王就有春分祭日、夏至祭地、秋分祭月、冬至祭天的习俗。其祭祀的场所称为日坛、地坛、月坛、天坛。分设在东南西北四个方向。北京的月坛就是明清皇帝祭月的地方。《礼记》载：“天子春朝日，秋夕月。朝日之朝，夕月之夕。”这里的夕月之夕，指的正是夜晚祭祀月亮。这种风俗不仅为宫廷及上层贵族所奉行，随着社会的发展，也逐渐影响到民间。

文人赏月

赏月的风俗于祭月，严肃的祭祀变成了轻松的欢娱。民间中秋赏月活动约始魏晋时期，但未成习。到了唐代，中秋赏月、玩月颇为盛行，许多诗人的名篇中都有咏月的诗句。待到宋时，形成了以赏月活动为中心的中秋民俗节日，正式定为中秋节。与唐人不同，宋人赏月的是感物伤怀，常以阴晴圆缺，喻人情事态，即使中秋之夜，明月的清光也掩饰不住宋人的伤感。但对宋人来说，中秋还有另外一种形态，即中秋是世俗欢愉的节日：“中秋节前，诸店皆卖新酒，贵家结饰台榭，民家争占酒楼玩月，笙歌远闻千里，嬉戏连坐至晓”(《东京梦华录》)。宋代的中秋夜是不眠之夜，夜市通宵营业，玩月游人，达旦不绝。拜月

民间拜月

明清之后，因时代的关系，社会生活中的现实功利因素突出，岁时节日中世俗的情趣俞益浓厚，以“赏月”为中心的抒情性与神话性的文人传统减弱，功利性的祭拜、祈求与世俗的情感、愿望构成普通民众中秋节俗的主要形态。因此，“民间拜月”成为人们渴望团聚、康乐和幸福;以月寄情。

在古代有“秋暮夕月”的习俗。夕月，即祭拜月神。设大香案，摆上月饼、西瓜、苹果、红枣、李子、葡萄等祭品，其中月饼和西瓜是绝对不能少的。西瓜还要切成莲花状。在月下，将月亮神像放在月亮的那个方向，红烛高燃，全家人依次拜祭月亮，然后由当家主妇切开团圆月饼。切的人预先算好全家共有多少人，在家的，在外地的，都要算在一起，不能切多也不能切少，大小要一样。

月光马儿

明清时期月神形象发生了重要变化，由早期纯道教色彩的以嫦娥为主的月宫图景演变为佛道交融的月光菩萨与捣药玉兔并在的世俗形象。这个时期，人们供奉绘有月光菩萨的月光纸，也叫“月光马儿”。富察敦崇的《燕京岁时记》(一九ο六年)。记载：“月光马者，以纸为之，上绘太阴星君，如菩萨像，下绘月宫及捣药之兔。人立而执杵，藻彩精致，金碧辉煌，市肆间多卖之者。长者七、八尺，短者二、三尺，顶有二旗，作红绿，笆或黄色，向月而供之。焚香行礼，祭毕与千张、元宝等一并焚之。”

Last week, my English teacher gave us a task, she asked us to form a small

group, each group was made up of five students, the groups need to do a

research, it is about how much people know about foreign country. In my group,

there are three girls and two boys, at first, we did not know what to do, then I

suggested our group take the cooperated work. As I and the girl are good at

writing paper, so the two of us decided to design the questions, and the other

three students are so active, so they like to ask people the questions. The

research went go so well, we finished it in two days, thanks to the teamwork, we

did well on the task. The teacher praised my group, I have learned the

importance of cooperation, since then, I will considerate other people’s

feelings.

Christmas is one of the most beautiful holidays of all time. It is the day when Gods sonwas born on earth. Hence, this day is sacred for all Christians around the world. The Christmas season gives rise to a number of Christmas traditions that come along. Here are a few of them that are celebrated with zest and enthusiasm worldwide for centuries.

This was an English tradition which started centuries ago. On Christmas eve, plum porridge was served to the people. As years passed, various other things like dry fruits, honey and spices we’re used. Soon this porridge got replaced with the Christmas cake. Christmas cakes are made using eggs, butter, confections, fruits,etc. Today aChristmas cake is an integral part of a Christmas menu.

This tradition comes from the story of the three wise men who got gifts for baby Jesus on Christmas. Every Christmas, gifts are exchanged among loved ones,especially children. This refers to the tradition of placing alighted candle outside ho uses during the Christmas season. A candle signifies hope as it brings light even to the darkest room. In the earlier times, when Christians were persecuted, they were not allowed to practice prayers. Hence, a single candle used to be placed outside the house as a sign that Christian prayers were being conducted inside.

这个传统指的是人们会在圣诞期间在屋子外面放一支点燃的蜡烛。即便在最黑暗的屋子，蜡烛也能带来光明，寓意希望。早些年代，也就是基督徒深受迫害的时候，他们被禁止布道祷告。因此，基督徒们在屋外放一支蜡烛，暗示他们仍在心里默默祷告。

Different Christmas hymns or carols like The First Noel, Jingle Bells, Joy to the world, etcare sung every Christmas as a part of the Christmas celebration.  这是一个古老的习俗：圣诞期间总是回荡着一首又一首圣诞传统歌曲。歌曲给人们带来欢乐，也增添了节日的气氛。每年欢度圣诞之际，《第一个圣诞节》、《铃儿响叮当》、《普世欢腾》等各种圣诞圣歌或颂歌都会奏响旋律。

This is yet another age-old tradition of Christmas. A crib refers tothe Nativity Scene that is prepared using small statues. The first crib ever was made outside a church of St. Francis of Assisi f or children to show them how the Nativity scene was like. Since then, this tradition became very popular.

This is one of the most wonderful traditions of all. Christmas candies are distributed to neighbors during the Yuletide season. Onthe day of Christmas, all misunderstandings and grudges are forgotten and the community comes together to celebrate the birth of Christ.

这是所有传统中最有趣的一个。圣诞季人们向邻居们分发圣诞糖果；圣诞节那天，所有误会与仇恨统统化解，邻里之间团结一致共同庆祝耶稣的诞生。

These traditions have been carried out for decades, yet they are celebrated with more and more exuberance each year. The level of excitement has never gone down. It just keeps getting better and better with time.

这些传统沿袭已有几十年，一年比一年热闹，盛况可谓有增无减。相信随着时间的推移，人们对传统习俗的热情只会越来越高。

中秋节晚上，泉州少林寺举行“中秋佳节祈福平安欢喜传灯法会”的活动。我高兴地想：中秋节就在少林寺笑傲江湖。

“天涯共此时”的时刻到来，只见大雄宝殿前的石埕上，百盏蜡烛被摆成“中国梦”字样，烛光在夜色里摇曳，引得市民争相拍照。

妈妈来到香案前，供上柚子、龙眼、月饼，我连忙取来三枝清香，虔诚地焚香祈祝。妈妈笑着说：“龙眼通称‘桂圆’，因此也寓意着‘蟾宫折桂’，而柚子还要在柚皮上画鬼脸，祭月后剥皮食柚肉，有祛除邪恶的意思。”

参加传灯活动的人越来越多，大家围成一个大圆圈，共同期望美好的中国梦能够早日实现。

多么难忘的中秋传灯祈福活动，我想：美妙的佳节真可以用花好月圆来形容。
