Mooncakes are to Mid-Autumn Festival what mince pies are to Christmas. The seasonal round cakes traditionally have a sweet filling of lotus seed paste or red bean paste and often have one or more salted duck eggs in the center to represent the moon. And the moon is what this celebration is all about. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month，it is the time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and fullest.

There are two legends which claim to explain the tradition of eating mooncakes. One Tang Dynasty myth holds that the Earth once had 10 suns circling it. One day all 10 suns appeared at once，scorching the planet with their heat. It was thanks to a skillful archer named Hou Yi that the Earth was saved. He shot down all but one of the suns. As his reward，the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hou Yi the Elixir of Immortality，but she warned him that he must use it wisely. Hou Yi ignored her advice and，corrupted by fame and fortune，became a tyrannical leader. Chang-Er，his beautiful wife， could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. And thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon，the Moon Fairy.

The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty，an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zang was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message. When the cake was opened and the message read，an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. It happened at the time of the full moon，which，some say，explains why mooncakes are eaten at this time. Mooncakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the bakery and the type of filling used. Some bakeries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalised ones to friends and family. They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. Traditional mooncakes are made with melted lard，but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health. Mooncakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories. The best way to wash down one of these sticky cakes is with a cup of Chinese tea，especially Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea，which aids the digestion.

There is this story about the moon-cake. during the Yuan dynasty China was ruled by the Mongolian people. Leaders from the preceding Sung dynasty were unhappy at submitting to the foreign rule, and set how to coordinate the rebellion without being discovered. The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes. Backed into each moon cake was a message with the outline of the attack. One explanation is that the Duanwu Festival originated from people’s worship of dragons. In ancient China, people believed the dragon was the god in charge of water, which was vitally important to daily life and agricultural production. On the day of Duanwu, people raced dragon boats to entertain the god and offered him Zongzi as a treat. The sole purpose was to please the god to ensure a year of favorable weather.

Some people believe Duanwu comes from activities instigated by ancient sorcerers. Qu Yuan was born in 340 BC, during the Warring States Period. At that time, there were seven states struggling among themselves to unify China. Of the seven states, Qin was the strongest and Chu the largest.

Qu Yuan was a noble of Chu. During his lifetime, the powerful kingdom of Chu fell into a decline.

Early in his life, Qu Yuan won the confidence of the King of Chu, and was his deputy prime minister, helping draft laws and determine foreign-policy. When he saw the danger posed by the ambitious Qin State, he proposed government reforms and an alliance with the neighboring Qi state as a way to ensure Chu’s safety.

But the King of Chu was surrounded by self-seekers, who were jealous of Qu Yuan. They accepted bribes from the Qin’s envoy, dissuaded the King from taking Qu Yuan’s advice and brought about the poet’s estrangement from the King. Qu Yuan was finally sent into exile for 20 years.

During those desperate years, Qu Yuan helplessly watched his beloved country become weaker every day. In the year 278 BC, the capital of Chu was stormed by troops from Qin. In great pain, Qu Yuan wrote “Lisao” or “The Lament”, the greatest of all his poems. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, he drowned himself in the Milo River, because he was hopeless about his country’s future.

Qu Yuan died thousands of years ago, but he is remembered every year for his love of and loyalty to his country and his people.

Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. In 1999, I joined the distinguished Professor Yu-Geng Xis research group aiming at Network flow problem solving and Heuristic algorithm research. Soon I was engaged in the FuDan Gene Database Design. My duty was to pick up the useful information among different kinds of gene matching format. Through the comparison and analysis for many heuristic algorithms, I introduced an improved evolutionary algorithm -- Multi-population Genetic Algorithm. By dividing a whole population into several sub-populations, this improved algorithm can effectively prevent GA from local convergence and promote various evolutionary orientations. It proved more efficiently than SGA in experiments, too. In the second semester, I joined the workshop-scheduling research in Shanghai Heavy Duty Tyre plant. The scheduling was designed for the rubber-making process that covered not only discrete but also continuous circumstances. To make a balance point between optimization quality and time cost, I proposed a Dynamic Layered Scheduling method based on hybrid Petri Nets. The practical application showed that the average makespan was shortened by a large scale. I also publicized two papers in core journals with this idea. Recently, I am doing research in the Composite Predict of the Electrical Power system assisted with the technology of Data Mining for Bao Steel. I try to combine the Decision Tree with Receding Optimization to provide a new solution for the Composite Predictive Problem. This project is now under construction.

我，姓李名飞阳，九岁已有余，十岁尚不足，语文老师还戏说我什么“大风起兮云飞扬”，也许是爸爸把这个“阳”字起别了的缘故吧，我丝毫没有飞起来的感觉，倒觉得自己平凡得如一粒沙子，是属于扎在草堆里找不到的那种料。

我个子不高，瘦得像一根筷子，属于营养不良型，只有声音还撑体面，唱起歌来洪亮如钟，气势非凡，颇有余音绕梁之势。妈妈常跟人说，我家阳阳吃的饭全长在声音上了。嘿嘿，反正也没有白吃，至少也算派上用场了，管它呢。还没有学到多少知识，那个高高的鼻梁上就架起了一副“望远镜”。爷爷总私心地说我是未来的“学者”，学者不学者，难道我自己还不清楚吗？只是由于长时间受眼镜的“压迫”，本来不大的眼睛变成了“一线天”，鼻梁被压得差点和嘴巴“拥抱”。这可已成为不争的事实。

我很爱讲笑话。每次讲笑话时，总会有许多铁杆听众，也算“粉丝”吧？每讲完一段笑话，他们准会笑得前俯后仰，不是笑得肚子痛，就是笑得爬在板凳上，直不起腰来，有的甚至干脆爬在地上，打起滚来。有一次，一个小伙伴听完我的笑话，一下子笑得坐在地上，正巧那儿有一滩水，等他反应过来时，裤子已经湿透了，我们又开始笑他尿裤子了。

啥？你问我有没有爱好？那还用说，可以说是五花八门、琳琅满目，嘻嘻，言重了吧。不过要说我最大的爱好嘛，还得数看书了。有这么一次，爸爸在看电视上的足球赛，我说想去奶奶家，爸爸点了点头，算是同意了。我走进厕所，本想方便一下就去的，没想到厕所里放着我最爱看的《儿童文学》，哇，多好的机会啊！真是天助我也。平时爸爸怕我眼睛近视严重，总是防着我，今天他看球赛我看书，正好两不误，于是我就直接坐在马桶上，津津有味地看了起来。去奶奶家的事早被抛到九霄云外了。也不知过了多久，听见爸爸在给奶奶打电话，好像还提到了我。后来又听到爸爸给妈妈和三姨她们一个个打电话，不知在说着什么，好像还有点急，紧接着听见爸爸下楼的声音。管那么多干啥，机不可失，时不再来，看书要紧。这可是个新的发现啊！以后看书就到这儿来，神不知鬼不觉的，没人打扰，多清静呀！

大约一小时左右吧，爸爸回来了，我不小心被文中的故事惹得笑出了声，爸爸听见了厕所里的声音，打开门一看，见我正坐在马桶上看书，当时就气得火冒三丈，骂我没有去奶奶家，害得他们到处找我，还差点儿报了警，我一看大事不妙，就赶忙向爸爸认错。“你一个大活人就没有发现娃没有出门吗？”还是妈妈好，多亏妈妈帮我解围，爸爸才算没有动手，唉，好险啊……

这就是我，一个一肚子笑话，看书成瘾的小男孩。

Good afternoon,honorable judges. I am glade to be here for this interview. First let me introduce myself to you. My name is **, 23. I come from zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. I will graduate from the Central South University in july this year.

After four years’ extensive training in science and engineering with a focus on microbiology and biotechnology in the last one and a half years, I am fully absorbed in biology and their various novel applications. Driven by my interest and capacity in these areas, I would expect myself to be a senior professional in 10-15 years time, working as either a faculty member in a university or a researcher in some institute.

Having realized that such a goal would require much more knowledge than what I have acquired, I am determined to pursue graduate study in a best university. The origination of my interest dates back to my senior high school year when I attended an intensive but interesting course given by the biological teacher on general biology. My interest was reinforced when I had the opportunity to participate in some research projects in the Central South University. In May, 2003, I began working with prof.Zhou to do research on microbial treatment processes for the nitrogen removal in wastewater. I participated in the separation method of nitrifier and denitrifier (chemolithoautotrophic bacteria, very small colony, grows slow, have the same color with the culture medium) and do some research on their Physiology characteristics.

I have been consciously strengthening my research ability by teaching myself advanced knowledge including microbial physiology, microbial statistics. Through these projects, I have not only learned many practical techniques but also acquired a solid theoretical background and a broad scope in scientific research in my fields of interest. Despite the intensive curriculum, I have always kept an eye on a broader world outside.

As a member of the CSU-Students Union, I’ve improved my communication and cooperation skills through some meaningful activities. It has become clear to me that a good academic environment can play a very important role in my pursuit of excellence. I believe pursuing a Master’s degree at CSU, would be a most reasonable extension of my academic pursuit and a major step forward toward my career goal.

October 1stis the national day of our country, which is a public holiday for the whole country. It’s an important day that marks the beginning of PRC. On that day, there are plenty of celebrations holding throughout the country, from the central government to the general people. And public places, including big squares, parks are decorated in festive theme. In recent years, the national holiday means the golden week as well, which is a short holiday that all people expect to. With the improvement of living standards, people have more money and desire to travel and the golden week is a good chance for them. Besides, for those people who would not go out, it’s a good time to have a good rest as well. Therefore, the national day means a lot to the Chinese.

I love small animals very much, but my favorite is the puppy.

The puppy is not big, but the head is big. There is a pair of small triangular ears, faces are small. A pair of gem-like flexible and translucent big eyes, a round yo black nose. The body of the hair was yellow, smooth like painted a layer of oil. Tail hairy, often swing to swing, feels very comfortable.

Puppy eating food will be issued a little sound, eat quickly, it seems hungry look.
