In my understanding, if we refer to an ideal college life as a formal western dinner, then a high GPA, that is, Grade Point Average, should be the main course, while an active part in

我是家里的小太阳，是爸爸妈妈的掌上明珠，我要什么就有什么，但除了一个自由的空间。从我懂事起，爸爸妈妈就象关小鸟一样把我关在了家里。于是，书本和电视就成了我消磨时间的唯一办法。我很少出门，爸爸妈妈总是说外面的坏人多，万一出事，后悔也来不及了。所以就算要去什么地方，也是由爸爸妈妈拉着护着，好象生怕冲出一个坏人把我抱走。

以前我对爸爸妈妈这种做法也不以为然，因为我觉得全世界的孩童都是被爸爸妈妈这样捧出来的，但自从看了《乌塔》这篇文章之后，我的想法才彻彻底底地改变了。这篇课文主要写了一个14岁的德国小姑娘，独自一个人游欧洲的事。当时我在读这篇文章的时候，觉得十分惊讶。因为在中国，不要说14岁游欧洲，就是把自己所居住的城市游一圈都不可能。特别是等我读到乌塔能自己挣钱给爸爸妈妈还有弟弟买礼物时，我更觉得是“天方夜潭”。自己挣钱买礼物，是我绝对不敢想象的，更何况是到外国去买。在家里，如果我要买什么，也是爸爸妈妈亲自“出马”。所以我对商品的质量、价格一无所知，更不用说象乌塔那样懂得比较多的商品价格。我唯一的一次自己买东西是在我10岁的时候，那天在“好当家”超市里，妈妈交给我一个“神圣”的任务，那就是帮妈妈买三包红酒，我听了之后高兴得一蹦三尺高。因为我终于有了大显身手的机会了。妈妈把红酒的名称和摆放的位置仔仔细细地说了三遍，才让我去买。她还说她会在收银台等我。我高高兴兴地找到了要买的红酒，拎了三包就往回跑。可到了收银台，我怎么也找不到妈妈，我吓得六神无主，象锅上的蚂蚁一样——团团乱转。后来通过广播才找到了妈妈，看妈妈的样子，似乎是急得快哭了。她看到我一个劲地责备说：“你跑到哪里去了，害得我急死了。”从此以后，我再也没有买过东西了。
