The Stilwell Scholarship she founded helps support deserving students from China who have come to the Monterey Institute to pursue professional degrees in translation and interpretation, international policy studies, language teaching and business management.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival of the han. It is a very important festival in our hometown, so every year the Dragon Boat Festival is very busy.

The Dragon Boat Festival is the most indispensable, nature is zongzi, every year the grandmother of the Dragon Boat Festival and everyone will pack hundreds of big dumplings! There are many kinds of dumplings, such as reed leaves, bamboo shoots, wild leaves and lotus leaves. But our hometown is a lot of reeds, so most of them are wrapped in reeds. 端午节最不可少的，自然是粽子，每年端午节外婆和大家都会包上几百个大粽子呢!包粽子虽然有很多种，比如芦苇叶、竹笋叶、菰叶、藕叶等。但我们的家乡是芦苇比较多，所以大多都用芦苇叶包了。首先，外婆“率兵”去采芦苇叶。采芦苇叶时，一大家子听着外婆的劳动号子：“加油!一个粽子三片叶子!上百个粽子几千片，嘿哟，加油!”听了“将军”的鼓劲，“小兵”们更加卖力了!采完芦苇叶，现在只要将它们暴晒就行了。但准备材料可没有这么简单哟，还得去集市上买来上好的红豆、猪肉、花生、板粟、蜜枣与糯米，还要买红线呢!

当然，最好玩的时候还是包粽子的时候。包粽子时，男人负责把肉切成不大不小的块儿;女人负责洗红豆、糯米之类的;小孩负责把大盆洗干净，再把大人加工好的东西装在大盆里;而老人们则负责指挥。一切准备好之后，就开始包粽子了。大人们干得格外卖力，而小孩们呢?却在一旁玩着，总是在大人们不注意时，偷一两颗蜜枣往嘴里塞，表面上似乎一点儿事都没做，可心里却暗暗自喜——因为蜜枣太好吃了!

最后一步就是煮粽子，烧火的外公总是把火候把握的很好，味道很香、很浓，如果在第一时间内吃粽子，你看到的肉粽子总是嫩地流油，看到的蜜枣粽子总是金黄柔嫩;看到的八宝粽子总是很可口，我们可爱吃了。

去年，要不是为了去盐城替舅舅、舅妈照顾表哥，外公外婆可能在包粽子哩。我突然有些“厌恶”舅舅、舅妈，他们家的经济条件不错，为什么不找个保姆?把我的欢乐端午节和粽子都“夺走了”，我好生气呀!也好怀念那味香色美的粽子呀!

I love my school so much, because of the beautiful environment. The first

day I walk into the school, I am very impressed by the green trees and the

colorful flowers. It seems that I just walk into a park and get lost in the

green world. The trees and flowers make me feel so comfortable, and my heart

妈妈告诉我，做人一定要孝顺。

古人云:“百善孝为先”。从小，妈妈就告诉我要学会孝敬长辈。记得两三岁那年吃团圆饭，看着色香味俱全的美味佳肴，我垂涎三尺，忍不住伸出筷子去夹。这时爸爸妈妈立刻制止了我，语重心长地说:“我们要学会尊敬长辈，好吃的东西，一定要等爷爷奶奶他们来才能一起吃!”当时的我似懂非懂地点点头，虽然那时还不明白话中的真正含义，但我还是听了爸爸妈妈的话，坐在旁边安安静静地等长辈们来。从那以后，“孝”的种子深深地埋进了我的心里，并开始生根发芽。

外婆身体不好，行动不便，需要人照顾。只要一有空，妈妈就会带着我去看外婆。由于外婆说话不是清楚，妈妈总是贴近外婆细心聆听，猜测外婆的意思，陪她聊天，耐心地照顾她。妈妈用她的实际行动诠释着“孝”的含义。此时，“孝”的种子已在我心里开花结果。孝敬父母，应从日常的小事做起，从生活的点滴做起，帮父母做一些力所能及的事。

爸爸说，为人处世要讲礼。

“礼”可以体现出一个人的道德修养，可以增进人与人之间的关系。在我很小的时候，我的家人就教育我要讲文明懂礼貌。有一次，爸爸带我出去玩，爸爸对路线不熟。于是，爸爸微笑着向一位叔叔走去，“您好，请问附近的……”那位叔叔看上去比爸爸还年轻呢，爸爸仍用了尊称，最后还不忘说“谢谢”。我看在眼里，记在心里。一个微笑，一句感谢，一件微不足道的小事，就能带给他人温暖和尊重，也能给自己带来快乐。以后不管在家在外，我都会牢记家风，注意礼仪。

奶奶教育我，要勤俭节约，勤劳能干。

奶奶是个勤快的人，每天都会把家收拾得井井有条。以前，我吃饭总是掉饭，奶奶就语重心长地告诉我：“粒粒皆辛苦，不要浪费粮食。”奶奶心灵手巧，总是能修复旧物。被子这里缝缝那里补补便可以继续盖。奶奶还特别有创意，经常旧物改造，废物利用。做衣服剩下的布料可以缝一个小枕套，奶粉罐绑在一起又是一个凳子。从奶奶手中出来的东西既美观又实用。她还叮嘱我们要随手关灯、关风扇、关水龙头，久而久之，我们都养成了节约的好习惯。

家风还体现在很多方面，在家人的言传身教中，我还学会了做人要善良、宽容、诚实等等，我会铭记家风，并将家风发扬光大!

今天是个很特别的一天，随着立冬，我们迎来了一年里的第一场雪。在冬天连大地妈妈也冷得发抖的时候，孝顺的雪姑娘纷纷扬扬的从天上赶了过来，给大地穿上了一件雪白的棉袄。

轻飘飘的雪落到屋檐上、大地上。小树穿上了白衣;公路盖上了白毯;房屋戴上了白帽子……”整个世界变得银装素裹，到处一片白。亮晶晶的小雪花满天开放，洁白的小雪花飘啊飘啊!这使我不禁想起两句诗：“忽如一夜春风来，千树万树梨花开。”雪犹如天女散花;又如蒲公英的种子自由飞翔;还似千千万万只飞舞的白蝴蝶。好不美丽。

中午我决定出去看看，果不其然，外面银白的一片。我走在雪地上，雪发出“嘎吱、嘎吱”的声音，就像一个小孩欢快的笑着。这时，我脚下一滑，打了个趔趄，差点跌倒在地上，回头一看，原来是那调皮的雪在作怪，为我不再被雪“暗算”，我拿起铲子，和爷爷一起扫起了雪。

说干就干!我肩上扛一个五尺长的铲子，就在门口铲起来了。我握着铲子的杆，对准冰面就是一阵猛敲猛打，把我身边的整冰拍成了七零八落的十几个小碎片，然后爷爷用扫帚把它们扫到一块去，当雪越堆越多时，我又一铲一铲地把它们倒入旁边的水桶里，但雪就像一个调皮的娃娃，跟我的铲子玩起了躲猫猫，我费了好大劲才让它们乖乖得跑进铲子。当雪渐渐堆满水桶时，爷爷就把他们倒入了旁边的沟里。这样的配合天衣无缝，可过了会，我渐渐体力不支了，只好停下铲子休息，但看着经过我劳动后干干净净又闪闪发光的地面，我感到了快乐。

这个元旦，有美丽的雪景供我观赏，又有快乐的劳动让我体会，真特别。

今日，我们树兰学校小学部举行了元旦联欢会，全校师生都参加了。

刚开始是各年级的节目表演，在表演之前，大家都化了妆，变得漂漂亮亮的。别的班表演的节目精彩极了，我看着看着就入迷了，完全融入到了表演之中。

好不容易终于轮到我们表演了，我们表演的节目是快板《夸夸咱学校》，我们一个个都很紧张，心跳个不停，但是我们还是稳重的念着快板词，手中打着快板，我们念地声音宏亮，样子精神饱满，表演结束了，迎着热烈的掌声我们回到了座位，我的心情才慢慢恢复了平静，老师说我们的表演比排练时精彩多了，我心里很开心，脸上也露出了喜悦的笑容。

当表演结束后，到了抽奖时间，抽二等奖八十名，一等奖四十名。开始了，先抽二等奖。抽二等奖时我还很有信心，但是没有抽到，我有些失落。抽一等奖时，我想：二等奖八十名我都没抽到，一等奖不用说了。一等奖是Jeremy老师抽的，我忽然听到自己的名字，我竟然被抽到了一等奖，我又惊喜又激动。我兴高采烈地去拿了奖品——一个流氓兔来，我们班一共才只有四个人获得了一等奖，真是千载难逢啊!其他没抽到的同学都是三等奖，也分别获得了礼品。

所有表演结束后，尤老师颁发了获奖节目的奖状，我们表演的快板《夸夸咱学校》获得了二等奖。下次我们一定会争取拿一等奖的，比现在做的更加完美，为班级增加光彩和荣誉。

到了下午4点多的时候，联欢会才正式结束，由我们班来打扫场地，男生放椅子，女生扫地，打扫完之后，我们都高高兴兴地带着喜悦回到了家中，与家人一起分享这份心情。

今年的元旦联欢会让我们既开心又难忘。

When I was in grade four in primary school, my father taught me how to use

computer. After that, I was very interested in playing computer. I watched

movies, played computer games, searched the Internet and listened to the music

on computer. Because my father must work in his computer, so he bought another

for me. I was very happy that I had my own computer. It was put in the study. I

am always very careful to use my computer, because I am worried I would break. I

often chat with my net friends. Because of my computer, I make many friends who

have many in common. Of course, I use my computer in study. There are resources

Do you like animal？ What’s your favorite animal？ My favorite animal is monkey. It is lovely and clever. People always say that our human beings are evolved from monkeys. Do you know what it is? A cat? Yes, it is a cat. She has very short fur and she is quite small. She weighs about 2 kilograms. She is usually very friendly and quiet. We never frighten her or pull her tail or ears. She likes walking around me and playing with me.

If she is hungry, she will miaow. Usually, she eats food from a tin, but her favorite food is fish. She likes juice if it is not too cold. She likes to chase and catch mice and sometimes she plays with butterflies. Sally often plays with balls and pieces of string. She does not like dogs and she hates the rain. She likes sitting on the sofa and watching TV.

She sleeps anywhere! She sleeps on any table, on any chair, or in any basket. She sleeps on top of the piano, on top of the fridge or TV. She sleeps on the window ledge, in the open drawer, in the empty shoe, on the grass, between the flowers, under the tree, on anybody’s lap, in a cardboard box, in the cupboard, or on my dress. Sally doesn’t care! She sleeps anywhere. She likes sleeping on my lap best.

I feed Sally every day and give her clean water. Sometimes I brush her fur and she enjoys it very much.

Sally is a very good friend, but she is quite lazy! She never worries because we take good care of her. She is always a happy cat.

As we all realized that every one of us will fail during our life. Take me

for an example, I fail in my exam. In fact, failure always does appear, which

also means that failure is a daily occurrence, however, when facing the failure,

different people have different attitudes.

Some people hold the view that failure is the meaning whenever they could

not be successful. Thus, if meeting with failure, they will feel so nervous that

they have no idea what they are supposed to do. As time goes by, they become

more and more dispirited while eventually, they could do nothing well.

On the contrary, there are some people tending to believe another idea.

From their point of view, failure is outstanding due to the fact that it can

give them plenty of encouragement. Therefore, if facing failure, they will be

quite courageous and then try their best to beat it, finally, they make their

dream come true.

From my perspective, failure is neither an excellent thing nor an

appreciating thing. Sometimes, it is capable to offer us with encouragement,

however, it can also make us unconfident now and then. Thus, if encountering the

failure, never could we be scared. What we should do is to face it bravely and

never give up.

In summary, I wish when failure appears, each one of us could confront with

it bravely and beat it, if possible.

我还喜欢游泳，一到夏天，妈妈就带我去游泳馆游泳。那里有许多小朋友，我可以在水里独自玩水，也可以和小伙伴们打水仗，嬉戏于泳池，特别有意思。不过我可不只是闹着玩的，我现在已经学会了仰泳、蛙泳、自由泳。我每次去游泳馆，都舍不得出来，妈妈总是催了又催，我才恋恋不舍地离开泳池。

不过我也有不好的地方，那就是不喜欢课外阅读，这样每次一到写作的时候，我半天都憋不出一个字来，有时候一篇作文都要写好长时间。妈妈也为此伤透了脑筋。今年暑假，妈妈还专门给我报了一个心语作文班，希望我可以把作文学好，这样我的学习就更上一层楼啦。我也要更加努力地学习，不辜负妈妈对我的期望。

popular. Nowadays, almost every family has a computer. Because of computers, our

daily life is improving.

Computer has a great effect on our daily life. In the first place, computer

has so many functions. As we have computers, we neednt buy books, radios, TVs

and any other things, because computer can take place of them. Secondly, surfing

on the Internet must be very interesting. Through the Internet, we can do

everything we like. Thirdly, thanks to the Internet, we can get the further

education at any time, so we dont have to get up so early in winter days.

However, a coin has two sides, because its new doesnt mean its always

good. At present, most students spend too much time on computer games. I dont

think its a good phenomenon, because it will do great harm to our eyes as well

as our health if we play computer games all the time.

In my opinion, we should use the computers in the right way. For instance,

we can read the latest news on the internet to know the world better; read the

e-books to enrich our knowledge or download some useful information for our

work. We can also make different friends on the Internet, so that our life will

be colorful. I believe computers will be our best friends if we make good use of

them.

我只能一直被失败的痛苦笼罩着我吗?不，我不要!我一定要走出逆境!我要为自己争取一个灿烂而美好的明天!是的，要忍住泪水，要忍着痛苦，坚强地面对。如果自己不坚强，谁替我去坚强?没有人会帮我去坚强!如果我不坚强，就会成为懦夫，成为被人嘲笑而看不起的小丑!不能坚强，自己将会被世界抛弃。

有位哲学家曾经说过∶寒风可以摧残花的身体，但却毫无办法磨灭花的意志。因此，花才能在第二年的春天中绽放笑脸。看，简单的一个哲理能在自然万物中体现出来。那这样推理，如今强大的人同样可以做到。我们为何不能去向自然万物学习呢?学会坚强，我们就好比得到用之不尽的财富，在浩瀚的宇宙中找到属于自己的美丽行星。

爱是什么?
