Dear Tom,

Im just writing to let you know that were all well, and I hope you are, too. Unfortunately, Ive got some rather bad news for you: Im afraid I made a bit of a mess of Johns car. Anyway, heres what happened.

We were on our way to Carols after a long party, and I suppose it must have been about eleven o’clock. Well, the last few miles back home were really dark and deserted. I now realize I was probably going a bit too fast for a country lane because, although the road was fairly straight, I drove up onto the curb and went into a tree.

Of course, John was absolutely furious and started shouting at me and cursing. After we d argued for a few moments, we decided to look at the damage, and he calmed down a bit. Well, we found we could move the car, but the wing was caught on the wheel, so we couldnt drive it. I tried to pull the wing clear, but I didnt succeed.

Anyway, John went off to phone for a breakdown lorry, but while he was away, I had another go at the wing and this time succeeded in pulling it right off. I threw it onto the back seat, and by that time John got back and we were ready to go?so we didnt need the breakdown lorry at all. John has more or less forgiven me now, but he was very angry with me for a few days. I suppose I was a bit careless.

四、征稿对象

大赛设少儿组(17周岁以下)和成人组(18周岁以上)两大组别分别评选设奖。海内外硬笔书法家以及硬笔书法爱好者均可参赛。

为保证公平公正，少儿组按小低组(8岁)以下、小中组(9--- 10岁)、小高组(11---12岁)、初高中组年(13---17岁)划分为四个年龄段分别进行评奖。

五、征稿要求

1、成人组作品要求：书写工具、书体及创作形式不限。书写健康向上的古今诗词、联、赋、格言等均可，提倡自作诗词。作品件数不限，最大尺幅不超过四开，要求必须提供1件A4或16开尺幅的作品，竖式，以备入集之用。硬笔小印至少六方以上，可附边款，制成印屏投寄。(篆书作品及小印须附释文)。

2、少儿组作品要求：创作工具、书体不限，最大尺幅不超过A4，书写健康向上的古今诗词、联、赋、格言等均可(篆书作品须附释文)。

3、请在作品背面右下角用铅笔工楷注明作者真实姓名、出生年月、性别、通讯地址、邮编、联系电话、辅导老师姓名(少儿组)。集体组稿单位附参赛作者名单及相关信息，请在信封右上方注明“硬笔大赛成人组”或“硬笔大赛少儿组”字样。

4、参赛作品成人组需交参评费30元，少儿组需交参评费20元，海外参赛者成人、少儿均为20美元。未交参评费的作品不列入评选。(邮局汇款者，请将汇款单复印件连同参赛作品一同寄至大赛组委会)

六、作品评审

1、大赛评审委员会制定评审细则，并依据评审细则，公平、公正地进行评审。

2、评审工作分初评、复评、终评三级评选，确定获奖名单。

银奖30名，奖金200元/人

The Lunar New Year occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first

four days of the year, during which people do not work except for the workers on

duty. Students do not go to school, and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. Farmers kill

pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses

are cleaned; couplets are posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at

the gate.

On the eve of the new year, each family has its members gatherd together

and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock

strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers

and other fireworks to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year,

almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. When

people meet on the way, they say to each other "Happy New Year". Friends

and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. Children

indulge themselves in games.

上课时，老师给我们说：“需要购买录音机和磁带作为辅助工具。”回到家里我就急忙给爸爸妈妈说了需要录音机和磁带的事情。妈妈告诉我：“辅助工具很重要，但是上课专心听讲更加重要。现在我们去买吧。”

录音机和磁带买回来了，妈妈告诉我怎么使用。我就打开录音机开始听起来了：先背着书听一遍，然后背着书跟读一遍，最后我看着书跟读一遍。现在该我关了录音机读课文了，我一看课文，呀，我只能勉强用英语说出课文中人物的名字，其他的就不知道怎么读了。这可把我急坏了，恨不得把书给撕了。妈妈安慰我说：“不要着急，事情需要一步一步的来完成，着急是没有用的。我们换个方式来练习一下?”妈妈和我就象课文里的人物一样来对话，介绍自己的名字和打招呼。几遍下来，我发觉我渐渐可以完全读课文了，这个方法真不错!

读完了课文，该听写了。我先看看单词表吧，哇!有的单词字母好多，我得好好记清楚，字母少的就看一遍。开始听写了，糟糕，我只顾去记字母多的单词，字母少的反而没有记住。不管了，这些不知道的单词胡编乱造也要写完。由于刚才一着急，字母多的单词也忘记了一些，只好空在那里了，最后错了不少。第二次也好不到哪里去。第三次了，妈妈说，再不全对的话，就把每个单词抄写一篇。这次我一定要认真记牢，反复在心里默写几遍，做到万无一失，要不然，罚抄每个单词一篇可不是好玩的。这次我满怀信心了，当然也全部正确了。

今天，我初次接触英语，也是经历了一些曲折吧。从中我也体会到，学习不同的东西需要用不同的方式去对待，但是，有一点少不了，那就是刻苦!

As everyone knows, stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is

no way to avoid it. As the pace of modern life continues to increase, we are

always feeling on the go from morning till night. And it is hard to slow down.

Therefore, stress goes hand in hand with the life in a competitive society.

Different people, however, think of stress quite differently. Some believe

that stress is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. They are of the

opinion that a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give

purpose to life. Others argue that stress contributes to one’s mental decline

and hence endangers his health. According to them, relaxation, the opposite of

stress, is essential for a healthy mind and body.

Personally, I’m in favor of the former view. I think it is impossible to

avoid stress when one is entirely devoted to the career he pursues. In my

opinion, it is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor

performance and ill health.

这个教育日，是由国家有关部门发出的，确定每年三月最后一个周的星期一作为全国中小学生“安全教育日”。其目的是为推动中小学安全教育工作，降低少年儿童伤亡事故的发生率，保证少年儿童的健康成长。

今年是第21个全国中小学安全宣传教育日，今年的主题是：“加强疏散演练，确保学生平安”，校园安全与我们每个师生密切相关。它关系到我们学生能否健康地成长，能否顺利地完成学业;它关系到我们的老师能否在一个宁静、安全的环境中教书育人，为国家培养和造就各种人才。因此，校园安全是我们做好学校各项工做的基础和前提。

在第21个全国中小学安全教育日来临之际，对全校学生提出以下要求：

1、上下楼梯要有秩序，均要靠右边走。不准拥挤，更不准推人。前面的人摔倒的话，马上要停止前行，把摔倒的人扶起来。

2、课间不要做危险动作，要做无危险的正当游戏。严禁在楼梯的扶梯上滑下来。

3、中午就餐时，进入食堂要排队，有秩序进入不能拥挤。

4、不准在教室里、校园内互相追逐、吵闹。进出教室时，也不能拥挤，要有秩序的进出，发扬大同学让小同学先进出。

5、上课期间，特别像体育课、活动课，要听从老师指挥，服从老师安排，严禁事故发生。
