今年暑假去北京，印象最深的是北京的明清建筑，不管是故宫、长城，还是园林、陵园的一砖一瓦都有着美丽的故事。我在感叹故宫之气派时，又觉园林之别致，它不仅有着皇家的尊贵，更有江南水乡的灵巧。可惜万园之园的圆明园被八国联军付之一炬，所幸还有一座寓意深刻的颐和园保存了下来。

颐和园被誉为中国四大名园之一，是清乾隆为其母修建的园子，原名“清漪园”，其中蕴含着为儿的孝心一片。

颐和园南面是占园2/3面积的昆明湖。从园中示意图可看出，湖形像个桃子，顾名思义，是只寿桃。湖畔有世界第一的长廊，长728米，体形“瘦”，寓意为“长寿”，有画多幅，长廊就像寿桃的两片鲜嫩绿叶，把昆明湖的零星美景连成一片，真是美不胜收。

Yesterday, my parents were not home. And I had to stay at home by myself for one day and one night. I was very happy at first, because there wouldnt be anyone criticizes my behavior. I can do whatever I want. But later I felt desperate. There was nobody cook for me, asked me to do things or criticized me. I felt empty and desperate as the house is only me. When the night fell, I was afraid. The computer games or the cartoons couldn’t attract my attention. I hate living alone.

My room is lovely and bright. Its not big,but its clean and tidy.

On the desk there are my school things and my flute. On the right side of the desk is a bookshelf, you can find all kinds of books on it. But my favourite books are about animals and science. Next to the shelf is my favourite thing—computer. It gives me knowledge and makes me happy. Opposite the door is my comfortable bed. On the wall above the bed are two maps. One is a map of China,the others is a map of the world. I learn a lot of things from them.

This is my room. I like to stay in my room alone and do my homework. I like playing the flute in my spare time in it. My room is my small world.
